He is totally mad - @SimCityAT

And the stock market takes a hit

Marilyn Tassy

I have not seen a decent film in ages.

Hollywood just rehashes the same old tales.

Boy meets girl, boy finds himself,a boy and his dog etc.Last film we suffered through was the Brutalist.

Over 3 hours long and I had to wake my husband up half way through.

I may go see The Passion 2 when it comes out but otherwise I have no interest in new films;

I have a load of ones saved to watch on U tube that I never saw yet and they are decades old.

Most made in the USA, had to throw that in to stay on topic!

My friend in Vegas fell off the toilet again. So much excitement as one ages!!!

Now she uses a transfer board and somehow once again it slipped and she crashed between the toilet and the sink, got stuck and hurt her knee.

Husband had to rescue her and drag her into the living room. Swollen knee.

I am afraid for her, do not want her in a care home because she slipped off her seat;

She has those grab bars and a seat  riser but somehow she found herself trapped on the floor.

She is only 69.

She is stressed out, maybe that was what happened, her mind was not on her business;Her 20 year old grand daughter is pregnant and unwed; No job, the baby,s dad is not working either.

This is the grand daughter who she has not spoken with for about 11 years, does not speak with her daughter or her grand daughter.

Heard it through the grapevine from her other girl.

She is about to change her will, has an appointment with a lawyer soon. Wonder if this new info will change things. She was going to write out one daughter and leave it all the the younger one.

IDK,not my affair but it will be interesting .

Life has so many changes, ups and downs it is impossible at times to know what the right move is.

There's a new David Attenborough wildlife film called Ocean out in the UK cinemas. I would pay to see one of his outputs.  They are always of the highest quality and he, himself, is a god of nature programmes.  He's 98 and won't be with us forever.  He will be utterly missed. I can see them putting up statues of him and renaming schools and university buildings.

I was thinking he can narrate programmes even after he's passed.  They just have to AI him and he can live on and his family can benefit forever.    Anyway, the Ocean film is not going to be at the cinema here.  We checked.  It'll be on Disney+ or National Geographic or something.  Shame as it will need a big screen to do it justice.   We're very keen on David Attenborough's wildlife shows.

Mel Gibson must be involved in The Passion 2.   I wouldn't want to see another of his films ever.  He's an anti-British, anti-Semite, alcoholic and worse, a Trump supporting person.   It's a NO from me.

Toilets are really dangerous.  I first heard about toilet deaths from one of my neighbours many moons ago. There are statistics I expect on how many people depart this earth while doing their business.  Apparently it puts a lot of strain on their hearts.   This neighbour had his grandma pass on the throne.  Heart gave out.

Mrs F's uncle more or less went the same way.  He had heart surgery and was essentially OK, went to the loo and moved on to the next plane there and then.  They said straining had burst his stitches.  It didn't help they didn't sow up his pipes enough.  The professor who was supposed to be supervising left it to his underlings while he was at home.   Of course, while that was the coroner's medical conclusion of dodgy surgery, the medics closed ranks and nothing happened to them.  If it was anywhere else, it would have been negligence and almost certainly a big payout.  A payout the family needed and still needs.

Being 69 should be one of the best years of your life, not a time of misery and pain.  But that's aging for you.  Youth is wasted on the young.  I should be grateful I am still a "young"  64 without too many issues apart from a dodgy back and related possibly dodgy hip.  It hurts but I can still move and do stuff.

One of my relatives has been written out of the parents will.   He says he doesn't want anything from them and his sibling will get it all.  Personally I think he's bonkers.  They didn't treat him particularly well so I think he should let his head do the talking  and get what he can.  It's like he did the time and not the crime so he should be compensated for pain and suffering.   He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.   Anyway, I told him to challenge the will.  In the UK he's got a few months to do it.   He should be prepared.  I told him to start now so he can get in there when the worst happens.  It's not like a £2 will, it's much much more than that.

I was estranged from No.2 daughter for some years. It got to a point where I realised it was just wasted time and someone had to make the move. I just decided to ignore what went on, put it down to her mother's manipulations and just move on and never discuss it unless one of us brought it up.  No. 1 daughter was very pleased about it as it had put strain on everything.  It was her idea just to put it behind us all.  It was wise advice.   But there are still half truths, misconceptions and outright lies unresolved.   We were able to address that and I could see the surprise on their faces that it wasn't as my ex- had cast it.   We split up over 30 years ago but it obviously still grates on the ex-'s mind.

Elvis died on the can. How embarrassing.

My old co gym, yoga mate in Vegas died on the can too;

She was a good 15 or so years older then I and still beautiful;

Tall, about 6 feet tall and from the UK. She had been a Las Vegas showgirl at the Tropicana with a group of her friends who all came to the states in the 1960s to work in Vegas.

She and one of her old showgirl friends took yoga classes with me;

Both were very well off and very nice and still beauties.

She popped off classy, sort of considering it was on the toilet.

She and her US boyfriend went by ship to France on their way to her estate in the S.of England; She spent 6 months in Vegas and 6 in the UK. Her name was Maggie.

They were on a tour somewhere in France went she left the group to use the loo and never left the stall.

They found her on the floor, dead. She was in her early 60s.

Gosh with my cancer treatments I thought I would check out the same way as they put me in isolation and they only checked in with me a few times a day. Of course they have a buzzer to call for help but who would actually use it ? Embarrassing!

My friend has a sort of mean streak in her, not sure why her one daughter refuses to talk to her for that many years;

Either her girl is a spoiled brat or my friend was cruel.

My friend used to support her girl and grand daughter, paid their rent, paid for dentists, paid for education allot of money was spent on them;

When the big money ran out, that is when they had their issues.

My friend and her husband in inherited allot of homes and land over the years and just blew it.

What is not my business but I find a bit off is they plan on leaving everything to just one of her daughters.

Her husband is the step father and never had his own children.

IDK, he may have a cousin or someone just as worthy to leave his part to.

My friend has been in bad health since her mid 20s. Her first husband could not handle it so he left.

Her current husband knew what he was getting into and seems to be the type of person who enjoys doing for others.

My step dad was that was too but not as much of a push over as my friends husband seems to be.

I know my friend can be too much at times. We had a verbal fight and did not speak for several years.

She contacted me and admitted she was too much. I guess I can forgive easier then her daughter can.

She blew my mind when she went off with me and my BFF Lisa in Vegas.

Just out of nowhere she got crazy on us.

Honestly it was out of the blue and not called for.

I think her being in a wheelchair grates on her at times. She gets angry with physically able people for some reason, like her illness is the worst thing to ever happen to anyone.

It is sad but it is not anyone,s fault.

Skype is out of service , think it has been replaced with a co called, Teams.

Hard to keep up with the name changes all the time. X and Y, Our phone service co here has changed names at least 3 times.

Could it be that as soon as the law suits pile up they change the names? File for bankruptcy?

I need a service that can call landlines from my mobile. Skype worked after a fashion, as I hope Teams will.

However, the fact is does the job adequately doesn't mean it's good, or deities should recieve thanks for its existence.

Frankly, it's a bit rubbish but it's the best out of a bag of crap.

We are not on FB messenger often but that is how we chat with our son who lives in Japan.

He rings our landline a number of rings and hangs up to let us know he wants to get us online.

He said he was using skype to ring us and now has to figure out a new way to let us know he wants to talk.

I am sure he is making it more complicated then it needs to be, we will figure it out though.

We still have a landline phone. We never use it to call but it is good to have since it is part of our cable package and not too much extra.

SimCityAT

Not used Skype in years, all my calls to the UK and Europe are are free.  I use WhatsApp as well which is free.

During lockdown I would use Zoom which was also free.

My dad can call me on the landline or my mobile for free from his landline with his telephone package.

I also have Facebook, so someone can always get hold of me.

Teams, I'm assured works if you have calling credit.

If you use a smartphone, WhatsApp is pretty the world standard, but Viber, Signal, and a bunch of others are out there.

All work mobile to mobile if you both have the app. All are free - Bonus.

Viber does Viber Out that can call landlines, but it isn't cheap and it is restrictive.

I'm happy to see Skype gone.  I've uninstalled it everywhere.  I downloaded all my contacts and stuff as they offered it.

Skype is so old hat now it had to go away.  There are too many alternatives most of them free to some extent.

I'm using Viber for the family and WhatsApp for work or acquaintances.

I do not like Teams as it's spyware (they all are) but I sometimes have to use it for work.

I've got a real bee in my bonnet over my Skype credit.  It's been there for years and now they've taken my money and I'll never see it again and they have no plans to return it.  I had all of £4.17 but even so, point of principle, I'd like it back.  I paid on my CC so they can refund there.  I feel like complaining to the telecoms regulator (in the UK).  I'm quite willing to put in the time to get the money back. It's not like I've got anything else urgent to do except painting a cupboard, watching TV shows, tidying up continuously and gardening.

Microsoft can afford to send me the £4.17 back!

We've got contract phones here from Telekom.  We can call each other in HU and the EU for nothing and close to unlimited Internet roaming all over Europe.    Our landline has gone.  It was pointless. No-one used it.  Maybe 1 call a month and it was usually Mrs F for me.

I think Mrs F's uncle did manage to press the call button but it was too late.  It's life and death so no embarassment.  To save him, they would have needed to do open heart surgery on the floor of the John.  Was never going to happen.   Guy was dead in probably less than 30s as the blood leaked out from the dodgy surgery joint and then the floodgates opened.  Stone dead.

Strangely enough, there's a Wikipedia list of people who died on the toilet.  There's such a variety of people including Judy Garland, Lenny Bruce,  one of our (UK) kings and a bunch of actors, politicians and semi-famous people.  Cursory look shows drugs seem to be part of it.  I Googled it and indeed barbiturates increases the need to sit in the throne room.  I've heard that before about morphine.

The story must be  if doing drugs, don't do it in the loo.   It won't end well!

BTW, your friend should have an alarm button around her neck.  My Dad used his a few times in emergencies.

It's a horrible thing.  I use multiple e-mail addresses as a way to do spam control.

Teams doesn't or didn't allow one to have multiple personalities and multiple e-mails.  Skype was crap like that as well.   I could fool it in older versions but latest ones blocked that.

Skype has been on death row or in the ICU for so long it was surprising it took this long for it to pass on (to Hell I hope).

I am going to be really annoyed over Windows 10 support withdrawal later this year.   I'm typing this on W11 but my main laptop is W10.  I'm going to end up having to install W11.  What is really a problem are the kids and Mrs F's laptops - all W10 and they don't have the hardware to upgrade.  So thank you MS for causing large numbers of problems for no reason and likely to cost thousands.  Wankers.

People always say you can choose your friends and not your family.

I can imagine your friend's frustration being in a wheelchair.  It's like being trapped.   I can only imagine.  But I can feel more restrictions on myself as I age.

Something around this has been bugging me for a while. I've been doing some idle reading and random research on it.

My BIL was just about capable of verbalising his  depression over his predicament.  He's got Parkinson's and dementia as I said before.  Last time I saw him which was possibly 6 to 8 months ago and all he could say is "Why me?".   What can you say to him?  If not you, someone else?  That's no comfort at all.

His dementia is coming more to the fore now.  He is getting to the point where he doesn't even understand what is happening.  It's not like being relieved of knowledge of his illness will make it better for those around him but it might be good for him.   He will stop worrying about it.   I guess this may have happened to my brother when he passed from a brain tumour.  He simply stopped being him to any degree as the cancer ate and diminished him.

Having faced several people with dementia, I begin to wonder if they are simply reverting to a more primitive animal state, driven by instinct.  Our dog is not free thinking.  It just works on feelings and I am not sure she's self aware.  That's really seems the same as dementia to a large degree.  It's a theory.   They say certain animals can recognise themselves in a mirror but I wonder if dementia sufferers can?

I'm now extended my wondering if AI is like a person with dementia.  It's not free thinking and not able to make rational decisions and is prone to hallucinations.  By extension, I really wonder if some posters on these forums are in fact AI responders.

Like we want some hallucinating AI entity to answer our questions or guide our lives from the Internet.  I don't think so!

Yes, you're right, they didn't do much with it.  Or more specifically, they should have worked on it much faster.    Teams is an extension to MS Office.  So you've the usual tools like Word and Excel etc and the typical office process tools are now joined by integration with Teams.

It's becoming too difficult for the home users.  Now they want you to save all your stuff to their MS cloud.  They'll own your data, be able to scan it for whatever crap they want to fire at you AND they'll be charging you for it on subscription.    Meanwhile, they suck you in by offering Office365 which is free but they've set it to save on their servers.  So they win that way too.

This is really what they want.  They want you to pay subscriptions for their regular cash flow AND to own your data and by extension, your life.

If we look at our family expenditure on IT and telecoms, it's now figuring as a much larger proportion of household spending.  It's rapidly increased over the last say, 5 years.

If it continues that way,  we'll have to see what we can drop because it's becoming just too much.

We are glad to have a land line phone.

I do not have a cell phone and do not want one.

I had magic jack years ago and it was great, could call my US friends up for free.

Talked allot for a year then let it go.

The 2 I used to speak with the most have passed on so not point in wanting a phone.

IDK, not much of a phone talker.

I used to be timed by our mother on phone use; We each had 15 Mins after school to chat with friends, that was it. 16 mins, no way, mom would just hang up the phone mid conversation.

I got used to getting to the point quickly and getting off the phone.

Drives my husband insane to be in public and have to hear some silly persons conversation about who did what and what they think, who really cares??

My deceased sister could be very glam or very silly, she did not care what anyone thought as she usually was thinking way ahead of everyone.

She thought it was so arrogant in the 1980s when people had those pricey brick style phones in their cars.

She in her beat up old VW bug put in a regular home phone, a dial one!

When she saw someone on the fancy car phone at a stop light, she would reach over and start to dial on her rotary phone! She enjoyed the look of shock on their faces.

Most people by the look on their faces believed her phone worked!

IDK, death is something none of us can buy off or escape.

My auntie had breast cancer that spread to her bones; She lived in a hospital bed in my cousins home for a couple of years. My cousin told me she asked her mother why it happened to her. She was so kind, giving, sweet and thoughtful all her life. My aunt corrected her by saying, Why not me?

No one is above troubles.

I am not bragging how can I but when I was in hospital due to a bad reaction to chemo I thought it was curtains for me.

I honestly was not afraid to check out, just  was a bit sad it alone in a hospital room.

I might of been over dramatic but it was a bit serious for them to lock me up for my own safety from germs.

Felt like I had one foot on the other side too.

I never thought, why me but more like wow this is it?

Now I feel great, no worries, just used that experience to learn what is really important in life. Most of us put the wrong things first.

My friend still seems to put material things above spiritual ones; She talks the talk but still is so into material items. Not sure if or when she will give it up.

I always think of mobile phones and Frank Cannon PI (William Conrad) in his Lincoln Continental Mark IV.   Probably the most improbable car for a PI to have.   A great hulking piece of tin and a whopping 7.5L engine and suspension performance of a wet sponge.   But he had a mobile phone in there.  He had to contact the operator by picking up the phone and the operator would connect the parties.   At the time, I thought it was marvellous anyone had a phone in their car.    On the other hand, it was possible to listen into people's conversations as none of it was encrypted.  Daft really.

Your auntie had the right idea.  It's just bad luck.  My BIL has a history of Parkinson's in his family.  His sister, his Dad and maybe others all have it.   Yet the medical writeups says it's not hereditary.  Observation says something else.  It's a bit like breast cancer.  There's a specific gene for that.  It's possibly Parkinson's is due to a specific gene, they just don't know which one.   I'd have thought my BIL would be a useful scientific experiment to see the genetics but no-one seems to have picked up on it.  I've told my sister and their kids but they've ignored it.  Oh well, lead a horse to water etc....

I don't know what Magic Jack is or was but it looks like many other call systems using the Internet (technical term is VoIP).  I also have something similar that doesn't need a PC but the only calls I get now  on that are spam calls.   Luckily I can manage it all online so I just block those once in a while calls.  I don't think anyone legitimate has called me on that phone for a year.   We all just use WhatsApp now to signal each other.

Some people have disappeared from my contact list because of Skype going but quite a few of them are old business contacts.  Not really bothered about them dropping of the radar.   If I'd let Teams import that list from Skype, I'd be linked up with people I only knew in passing.  What would be the point except to generate clutter in my address book.  This is one of the things I do not like about Facebook.  Damn thing would be trying to link me into some people I'd rather avoid.

Thanks for the info.

My husband does this with his cell phone. It does come in handy to have one at times. I am just not interested in chatting on it myself;

No one calls us anyways!

My husband pays about 10,000 forints on a pre paid card and sometimes it lasts us a year!

Marilyn Tassy

This morning our son chatted with us, for about 2 hours!!

More then I can take at one time!

Of course being a mom, if he did not call I would be freaking out, can not win!

Speaking of scammers, my German friend in Vegas runs a big event with vendors; The Las Vegas Arts and Crafts Show.

She got a text from someone claiming to be the owner of her business and they still had stalls to rent out!

I can not believe it but she posted the text that appeared on her phone.

The nerve of these scammers!

My mom, aunt and first cousin all had breast cancer. My cousin is allergic to chemo like I am so somehow they are keeping it under control. She has issues with her lymph nodes swelling up. Has to wear some machine thing for hours everyday to reduce her swelling in her arms and chest.

She is only 63 or there about.

On my fathers side it is colon cancer. I wish my mother had taken it more seriously. After my parents divorced she never addressed it much. Said some stuff about it skipping generations and only the males family members passing it on etc;

IDK, but we lost my grandmother, her daughter and her grand daughter to it, my brother recently and our fave uncle had surgeries from his teen years till his 60,s to remove parts of his insides. Skinny little guy, food must of gone right through him.

My first cousin who visited us in Hungary has gotten an exam every year since he was 16, he is now 79 and never had an issue with cancer.

My brother had super great health insurance and he obviously did not use it often enough.

If mom had told him how serious it was, he may of caught it early.

Getting a bit frustrated.

Took our car in last week for some rust repairs for our safety test.

Guy still has not finished the car.

He did however find more minor things to fix and charge for;

Thought for a moment that we found a regular repairman that we could use again;

No, not ever again!!

Why can not anyone do a fair job for a fair price?

Everyone wants to get rich overnight without sweating.

Saw a video where a women food delivery person did not see a tip on her app after she dropped the food at the door; She picked up the paid food and took it away! Is that not robbery? She refused to hand it over when they guy opened the door.

Everyone is out of control.

I wonder if those bike riding food delivery guys make bank or not.

A couple weeks back inside Lidl about 5 guys who defo were delivery riders pulled their change to pay for     a couple of items; The entire line had to wait it out while the clerk counted every 5 forint and 20 forint coin; Had piles in front of him!

I know about 18 years ago I had a American friend from Ca. here in Hungary.

She was also a hairdresser but worked at Hajas salon as a part timer.She told me she spent time doing highlighting on wealthy HU women, took nice small sections so it would look great etc; She got 100 forint tips for her trouble! That is an insult to a talented hairdresser.

Everyone is on the make these days.  Trying to be fair usually means getting shafted by someone.   I have a relative who did some work on a person's house and the recipient refused to pay.  It was one of those jobs where you cannot take away your work if there's no payment.  So he had no option but to leave with nothing.  I don't know why he didn't charge a call out fee in advance.   Maybe give a bit of minor advice and ask for the money up front then and there. Cash only.  I suppose he'll learn.   If they won't pay something up front, it's probably too much trouble.  He could take cards online I suppose.

I once tried to pay with a load of coins and they went mad.  I said money is money, what's wrong with you?  I think they didn't want to bother counting it.  So it was plain laziness.   What happened to the customer is always right?  OK, not really but still, I wouldn't argue with 10 x 100 Ft or a 1000 Ft note.  Either works and spends the same.

I've got to fix our tumble dryer.  The parts arrived this afternoon from China.  I already took it apart and I know what's wrong so I'll fix it and it's cost me about 25 EUR.  If I'd called a repair person, I'd have no change out of 100 EUR maybe and they wouldn't even try and fix it.  Just another scammer.

One thing I liked about Austrian banks is that they had coin counting machines.  So we'd go in there with a bag of change, swipe our cards, put the coins in the hopper and it'd count it and credit it on your account.   They really should have those here.  Very useful. We have piles of coins and some places want coins and change.  But fiat (physical) money is no longer desirable due to the physical handling. Everything can be resolved by card payments.  I've sometimes taken Ubers in the UK and that's all cards. Tips you can add after but I'm sure the drivers would prefer cash off the books.  Who wouldn't?!

In the US most large shops have coin changing machines.

My husband collects his coins and uses them at the farmers market.

He has his bills tucked away and hates to break them until his coins are gone.

Took the subway and a bus then had a nice long walk to pick up our car yesterday;

I did not mind the walk, it was perfect outside for a stroll.

The repairmen has a nice set up for himself;Covered outdoor area with a car lift, covered area for cars to park all in his own gated area with his home on it.

I have not seen set ups like this in the US. Zoning and insurance regulations, they do not want some dim wit with a blow torch working next to other homes and residents.

Paid the guy cash, I am sure he will keep his $600 plus payment off the books. He took cards but we do not use them unless it is a total must.

Good luck with the dryer, should not be difficult for a handy person to do.

My step dad no;2, the ex POW was a heating and A/C guy. He used to live in N; Ca; and one of his neighbors was Ronald Regan; His girls used to swim with his kids!

Well, he went down the tubes, PTSD finally took him down , that and his 5 ex wives.

Anyways on the side he did fridge, stove, washing machine and dryer repairs. He gifted us a nice sturdy matching set of washer and dryer for our house warming. Did a great job with them, looked brand new and we took them with us all the way to Hawaii and back.

Only a few things can go wrong with them but most people just toss them out and buy new. Just like our car, most people would chuck it and buy another one.

In these upcoming hard times, perhaps people will try to save items and fix them?

Car is good to go for ages now.

The guy we bought it from took good care of the undercarriage, still has the factory muffler, 28 years old.

He kept it in a garage. 12 years of being on the streets cause our rust issue.

The guy had a 7 series BMW parked next to ours, must of been his own car, with those prices it is not a wonder. Funny thing was he could of been a stand in for Mr. Bean, looked just like him! Poor guy, nice car but needs a new face.

Domestic appliance repairs is a good business.   Especially in harder times.   Fix and make do.  Mrs F's uncle was a TV repair man.  He had 100s of TVs in his garage - people didn't want to pay so he just stacked them up.  That was years ago. He had a stroke maybe 10 years ago. His working life was then over.  He cannot speak but can hear.  No-one understands him.  He seems quite fit otherwise.

Years ago,  a French woman got her face eaten off by her pet dog.  Why she didn't wake up, I don't know? Drunk? Unconscious?! Dunno!  Anyway, they gave her a face transplant from a cadaver.   Marvel of modern medicine.  Probably.  I won't include a picture here as it's not that good a result and there are many other examples.   Anyway, she died in 2016 due to complications of the immune system.   It's beyond plastic surgery, it's like complete reconstruction.   Makes you wonder what it's like to wake up with someone else's face.  For some people it might be a pleasure, for others a complete shock.   Mr Bean is often referred to as rubber faced - been his fortune!

My 27 year old hobby car is on its 3rd exhaust (US: muffler).   I fitted it myself.  Those were the days I could import a complete set of US parts into the UK as part of a container shipment, then separately ship them here rather cheaply.  It's all Brexit buffoonery now.

I've actually thought about converting my shed into something like a tool shop or an American car parts store or just an office.   Not thinking of setting fire to the neighbours houses.  We need to reconstruct  the shed but we are concerned what the neighbours might say as one particularly would be a complainer.   It needs a new roof, doors/windows, insulation etc.   Despite all that, it's a really useful shed.    I wondered even about converting the MIL's house into rental offices.  It's right in the middle of a village next to nearly everything so could be popular.  Plenty of parking - for at least 6 to 8 cars out front.

100s of tv sets, sounds like the nightmare my mom had when she was selling her house in Simi, Ca;Step dad fixed used appliances and sometimes people would just ask him to take away their old ones.

He had tons of machines all over my moms large patio outside.

She was freaking out all the time, telling him to dump them or fix them:In the end she hired a huge take away bin and hired people to load it up.

I was so surprised that mom being ill and all got it all together and cleared her home out by herself.

Sometimes good intentions are not enough;

Step dad always told her he would fix them up and make a killing;

All I can say is booze does not mix with ambition or good intentions.

What a long day, went to city hall, then the post then across town to pick up an order and then to the piac then back home;

Everything in the city is close by but taking 4 hours is still a bit draining;

Ready to chill out and then pass out!

I don't know what happened to the TVs but I suppose they were taken for recycling.  Literally his garage was full to the roof of old TVs and his workshop were overloaded with stuff. I think it's all been cleared out now.   Getting rid of this stuff is really difficult.  Washing machines, we know where they can go.  There's a metal recycling place not so far away from here. We've used that place a few times.

Booze isn't good in many circumstances.  One of the reasons I gave it up.  Been years now since I had an interest in partaking.   It's quite odd, when one becomes teetotal, to see how others actively engage with it.

It was dog walking this afternoon - so a tick in the box.  I might do some gardening work now it's going dark.  Spraying for fungus on our fruit trees.  Best time to do it is in the evening as usually no wind.  I'll have to get togged up with protective gear as it's not a good idea to breath it in or get it on your skin.

I enjoy a beer or a half bottle of wine often. My husband does not drink at all.

I quit for Many months, can take it or leave it. Enjoy a sip while cooking, makes the time fly by.

I never drink before mid day and do not drink a drop with dinner or afterwards;

I should just stop cooking dinner and that would solve it!

In warm weather as we are out I do not drink.

I never took any pain meds at all with my cancer treatments either, I am an odd one!

It really is not good to drink or smoke and as one ages it is even worst.

Makes me think of CDW 57, wonder what happened to him, he seemed so self destructive. What a shame.

They have close parking on so many sts; in our area, usually they film on our st; and perhaps the one near the local church. Today my husband had to really search out parking; Will be taken over till Saturday.

I guess our district makes a bit of money letting out our parking spots?

Now we hate to move our car or use it till the parking is open.

I have not heard from my deportee in a few weeks, sort of worried about her overall health.

Not like her to be so out of touch.

Yesterday we jumped into Lehal Piac as we were in the area.

Those crazy vendors were selling watermelon for 800,up to 1,200 per kilo!!!!

I know it is early season but really?

Who is buying it at those prices??

Apparently Sweden is the hot favourite to win with a comedy number about saunas.   I think I'll have to watch the final.   It's become a bit of a tradition at Fluffy Towers.

The only thing is the number of participants. It's becoming really long. Sometimes I wonder if the participating nations truly believe their selected dirges and ballads have any chance.

BTW, I read that AirBnBs or apartments very near the venue are going for mad money.  Like 60K EUR for a week.  Insanity!  But if you go 30km away, it's like 2K EUR.  Still way too pricey!

Followed Austria in 2nd place. I did start watching it last night, but fell asleep. Will try and make it through on Thursday, and see what reacted the UK gets, but they are automatically through to the final anyway.

But of course I will watch the final, I will just make sure I've had a few coffees in me.

Last night I rewatched an oldie , Heat.

Long 2 hour 50 mins of it.

Tom Sizemore, Al Pacino and Robert Di Nero,Wes Study,John Voight to name a few.

Oh yes, can not forget it also stared Val Kilmer.

Ah, won't be Conchita Wurst again then for Austria.   I really think she should do something about that beard.  Not keen on beards.   But just to be contrary to myself,  I'm going with the previous Pope and say who am I to judge?

I think it's OK to watch on the side while doing something else.  It's going to be hard to keep watching without stimulants (coffee) I must agree.

It probably won't be shown here on the national channels as Hungary doesn't participate and it's all a bit too gay for the hypocritical government.

But it'll be possible on YouTube on the actual Eurovision channel I expect.

Heat is one of the absolute top gangster-cop movies of all time.  An excellent choice at any time. I must have seen it 6 or 7 times.  It's a total classic.   The final shoot out scene is superbly done. One of the best shoot outs in movie history.

Val Kilmer I always thought was a bit mad.  Sorry he's gone but I would never look for one of his movies.  Sizemore is a bit keen on drugs I believe - he's got convictions for it.  Also off the radar.

Pacino and de Niro, absolutely will watch what they are in regardless.  Fantastic actors.

Voight I never really thought much of but his performance in Ray Donovan was exceptional.  Loved that show. Unfortunately his politics and religious views are absolutely in opposition to mine.  Hence he's off my Christmas card list.

That is funny, too gay for Hungary.

As a matter of fact, I have met more gay people in Hungary or in the US who were from Hungary!Let me see, there was a chubby guy in Ca; who everyone called, Raisin, there was, Painter, well he was more bi, then a few ladies I met in Hungary at the gym,The bi guy who we knew in Ca, Hawaii and here in Hungary, my upstairs neighbors who are nice enough guys, do not see them often but they are always friendly.

I will try to remember to check it out tonight on U tube.

Just saw an article about Burberry in the UK laying off 1,700 employees.

I know that is a more high end clothing line.

Well; unless you are a second hand shopper like me, found a great simple but classic Burberry dress in Vegas in the Good will for nada. Fits perfect,just too nice to wear for my Tesco runs. Think it was all of $10. plus dry cleaning fees.

Not only inflation is hitting people but the loss of jobs as well.

Might have to clean up our loft for my son and DIL!

No, her father has a old house in the mountains in Japan where they can fend for themselves if needed.

They lived in the family home for several months when they first moved to Japan. Nice enough but my sons MIL drives him nuts.

He gets on well with his FIL but even he only goes home a few days a week to avoid his wife!

Yup, too gay for Hungary is going to be one of my new phrases.  Too gay for Orban, too gay for Shady Vance. too gay for anyone with a fundamentalist religious belief and blah-blah.   All that Eurovision dressing up and glitz and glam, what else could it be?!

There's a lot of gay stuff going on here in Hungary, we just don't see it.  I am wondering what they are going to do to resist the Orban anti-Pride laws.

My  No. 2 daughter had to visit hospital after fainting and falling down the stairs in Ontario.   Subsequently they found she had Measles!  WTF?  She had the MMR vaccine as a kid.  Well amazing.  Anyway I looked at the public health pages for Ontario and it's super gay Pride on there - with rainbow flags and everything.

Mrs F was funny the other day (she's funny other days too).  We'd had a rain shower and we were expecting  a rainbow.  However, Mrs F pointed out that rainbows are banned in HU.  Made me laugh.

BTW, here's a picture of Conchita Wurst (or Conchita Sausage) to liven up your day!  Really, Conchita, lose the nose ring and beard.  You could pass in UK women's loos unless the underwear police are there.

Years ago I never would of thought I would say it but nose rings have to go.

In the early 70s my cool older friend had a nice ruby post on the side of her nose but those in the middle just bug me; Looks like snot running down their noses, Aqualung style;

I see so many people wearing them here and I have to honestly say the overall vibe is not good. Their clothing just looks too conservative or their hair is off, they are not pulling the look off well at all.

My friend was different for the times with that nose piercing, she did it herself too, painful. She also had a rainbow of colors on one side of her hair, A stylist to the stars did her hair, Barron on Ventura Blvd; I went to him a few times as well; Over $40. for a cut in the mid 70s! I know Glen Campbell,s wife was just before me. Barron was bitchin with his assistant about how terrible a client she was; I made sure i tipped him . one had to make the next appointment with him the same day; There was a min; of a 6 week wait to get in.

Man I worked and used a couple days worth of tips just for a haircut from him.

The green hair, blue hair and nose rings are rather old hat but Hungary is always a bit behind the times.

Gay men do not bother me at all but gay women always seem so  handsy at least to me.

I mentioned in Tesco about 10 years ago a women came from behind me and pinched my bottom!

Not the first time a women got too friendly in a sneaky way with me; I do not like it, not from any sex, male female or whatever in between.

Back in 73, my older friend and I were hitching a ride home from a nightclub in Hollywood.

For some reason it was getting late and not much traffic, hard to get a ride.

All of a sudden a VW bug pulls up, it was backed with 6 women inside!

We told them thanks but no, they insisted it was ok since it was a short ride;

My friend piled in the back with 4 others while I sat on the lap of the front passenger.

We realized this was a group of gay women and the driver and the front passenger were a couple and they were in the middle of a wild verbal fight!

I was praying they would not start swinging at each other before we got out.

Mrs F sounds like she has good sense of humor, Hungarians can be super funny and sometimes they do not even know why.

The green hair, blue hair and nose rings are rather old hat but Hungary is always a bit behind the times.Gay men do not bother me at all but gay women always seem so handsy at least to me.I mentioned in Tesco about 10 years ago a women came from behind me and pinched my bottom!Not the first time a women got too friendly in a sneaky way with me; I do not like it, not from any sex, male female or whatever in between.Back in 73, my older friend and I were hitching a ride home from a nightclub in Hollywood.For some reason it was getting late and not much traffic, hard to get a ride.All of a sudden a VW bug pulls up, it was backed with 6 women inside!We told them thanks but no, they insisted it was ok since it was a short ride;My friend piled in the back with 4 others while I sat on the lap of the front passenger.We realized this was a group of gay women and the driver and the front passenger were a couple and they were in the middle of a wild verbal fight!I was praying they would not start swinging at each other before we got out.Mrs F sounds like she has good sense of humor, Hungarians can be super funny and sometimes they do not even know why. - @Marilyn Tassy

I agree, nose rings are for pigs and animals, not people.   I don't like those side of the nose jewellery items either.   It seems to be a thing now but it might even be becoming too old hat.

Our HU daughter has plenty of earrings and some tattoos but not too many.  I've asked her not to do any tattoos on  her face or visible parts and definitely no piercings anywhere likely to get infected like eyebrows or belly buttons or more intimate places.  So far, it's been OK and she hasn't gone that far.   I don't think tattoos are going to look good on older people.   I mean, wrinkly with some picture,  it's not going to work.  In any case, it'll wear off and in the meantime, the skin is damaged and not really rairable.  The sun does enough damage with elasticity etc. I can see it on myself.    My suggestion is if there will be tattoos to make sure they can be covered up with sleeves and with shirts.  People (interviewers really) will form an impression almost immediately.    Being an art student, there might be pressure to express something visually. I hope not.  But I'll ask her if her student friends have any visible tats.  She's my go to person on current trends.

I used to like Glen Campbell.  My Mum really liked him as well.  I expect his wife had a dose of celebrity entitlement.  I dunno, bit of fame and straight to the head.  Dizzying!  But easily lost.

Hungarians are pretty funny but usually it's in such a subtle way one can easily miss it.  Lost in translation etc.

Maybe you've got some gaydar.  I think everyone has it to some extent.   I think I can detect gay men at 100 yards by mannerisms but unless women have something of the uniform - short hair, masculine dress, blah-blah - I haven't got much of a clue.  And then there's the lipstick lesbians, i.e.  not wearing a uniform and dressed to kill but batting for the other team.

I keep saying it, you need to write these stories down.  It almost sounds like the beginning of a joke or shaggy dog story for stand up.  "So, there I was, stuck in a VW Beetle with 6 lesbians.....".....cut to flash-back...and you need to fill in the rest of the joke/movie yourself!

Years ago I never would of thought I would say it but nose rings have to go.
In the early 70s my cool older friend had a nice ruby post on the side of her nose but those in the middle just bug me; Looks like snot running down their noses, Aqualung style;

Its the whole arm and leg tattoos, might look ok now, but not when they are older.
