Over WN?

Airshow season around here now. Popular events and FREE. Last time I went, the Germany Army was there with some tanks. Impressive! And we splashed out on a helicopter ride. Wasn't cheap but was fun!

Interesting.  I would have thought they'd have specific training areas for different scenarios rather than a blanket notice. I suppose one size fits all.

Man, I have lived long enough to sound like a real sore spot!

Airshows are no longer on my list of fun things to see or do.

Have seen the Blue Angles show many times over the years;

They are fantastic.

Sad thing was at one of their shows towards the end of the day they had private pilots doing stunts.

One was a young women who,s parents and friends just happened to be seated right behind my family.

She was getting allot of praise and her family was talking very happily about her etc.

Then BAM she crashed into the ground in a dust bowl.

To this day, about 40 some years on, I can still hear her mothers screaming out.

My God it was horrible. End of the show folks.

That wasn't so nice - see your kid literally crash and burn.  The Blue Angels are well known.  We have our own one in the UK called the Red Arrows.   They appear at air shows all over the UK but when I was in the Air Force, they were based at a nearby air base and they were not liked by others - elitist and snobs and too much show biz. Apparently anyway.  What did I know about if it was true? I spent most of my time hiding in bushes, marching or shooting on the range.

The Goldtimers old planes are quite good at Budaors.  They appear all the time in period Netflix TV shows as does the Budaors terminal building. They have a Dakota plane DC-3. Well, I say that, but actually it is a Russian copy - a Lisunov Li-2.   Last time I saw it altogether, I think it was supposed to be Nazi Germany but they are rubbish with continuity as I could see the HA-LIX Hungarian registration.   This is a common problem on US TV shows made in Canada, they use Canadian aircraft with a C- registration.  Like why would the US special forces or whatever be flying about in a Canadian plane?

HA-LIX (it's possible to fly on this plane on a sightseeing tour over Budapest):

Pilots and egos.

Flight attendants too.

My SIL worked over 35 years as a American Airlines mechanic.

She got interested as a young women when her first husband had a plane and worked on it himself.

She climbed up the ladder and became a supervisor with AA before retiring.

She had more years then my brother died working on all sorts of aircraft.

One tough lady, my brother always went for super strong women with unusual jobs.

His ex wife was a MP in the US Army and worked for the FBI for awhile.

His aircraft wife needed a good paying job when she divorced her husband so learning more about repairing planes was her way to support her children.

She and my bro often said those flight attendants had attitudes like the plane could not fly without them;

My SIL was called to fix something inside a plane , wearing her overalls and no makeup etc. All business.

As she entered the plane a flight attendant came up to her and handed her a bag of trash to remove!!

My SIL had no time for fools and just took the bag after she fixed the broken plane.

What egos and arrogance from the crew.

My bro said some of the pilots were snobs too, they forgot their life was in the hands of the mechanics.

Yes, that kind of attitude is exactly what I mean.  Thinking they are better than others.

My niece was a flight attendant with well known Middle East airlines and they have to put up with a lot of nonsense so it must wear them out.  Everything from not knowing how to use the toilets and messing it up horribly to people getting sick and dying mid-flight.

I'm thinking especially on the low cost airline when they have to do all the cleaning, all the sorting of the cabin and do it really quickly with only a 30m turnaround.  I think they only have 4 flight attendants on your average Boeing 737 (not the best) or Airbus 320 (better plane).   There are a lot of duties.

I see them rushing around so it must be the same for the mechanics.  They all have to get in on the job to get it turned around.   Utilising the aircraft as much as possible has to be top priority.   Big expensive asset to have sitting on the tarmac not earning.
