Absolutely Anything Else
Plans, hate making them.
Set my alarm, packed a lake lunch for my husband last night and was ready to hit the road this morning.
Looked out, windy and cloudy.
Darn should of gone yesterday.
All good, having hubby clean up some of the mess he made.
When he helps me it usually leaves me with more work then help.
Used a pressure cooker to make some meat tender before using the air fryer.
IDK, usually just soak the pot and wash, no biggie. Well he got the idea without telling me of heating the water on the stove, forgot about it until I noticed smoke;
Now it is up to him to wash out the pressure cooker.
Lidl is having a sale on corn for only 149 an ear, the 17th through the 20th.
Water melon is going to be 189 a kilo, might be worth taking a gamble on one for that price.
We have plans for my husband to get on a ladder today, always gives me a fright. Even in his 20,s he scared me climbing up. Of course it may not happen, never make plans.
He stands on the top rung! I hold the ladder steady but have to close my eyes, I get nervous.
Just to rehang a bit of curtain and maybe clean a top window.
Love having high ceilings but they have their down side.
Once while hanging up a new ceiling fan/light in an apt. In Ca. he put staple type tacks in his mouth while standing on a ladder and looking up;.
I asked him a question and he answered, swallowed the tack too!!
Oh, what fun, a trip to the ER. Thankfully they used some long tool down his throat to pull it out.If it went lower he would of needed surgery to remove it!
Guess falling off ladders is not the only way their are dangerous.
He had a nice sore throat after that for days.
His step bro fixed up our home when he visited from Hungary.
In 2 months he did allot of work, inside and out.
He would, walk the ladder, move it without getting off!
I still remember my sweet 80 plus year old neighbor, Doris calling me up.
She said the man painting our house looked like he was going to fall off the ladder.
He drank while working.

I have to get up a ladder this afternoon. I really do not like them at all. One of my window blinds is stuck. It won't come down. Someone - who shall remain nameless - put something on the outside window sill so when the blind came down it was pushed at an angle.  Now it doesn't go up and down straight and makes a bit of an unhappy sound. I'll have to take it to pieces to see if I can get it back on the roller. It's just not straight. We've had this issue before but this is the first time the blind has been damaged. If an object is under the blind, it automatically stops. Clearly this wasn't the case and the motor forced it before it cut out.  Just a nuisance.
Meanwhile I had to dismantle my hi-tech birdbox (not the same as the birdbath) as some wasps had taken up residence and scared the birds away. So the birdie season is over, the nesting season finished. I'm going to use the camera from the birdbox camera on the birdbath.  I'll get another camera for the birdbox. I want to make a new birdbox anyway. We had several years of success but now it's time for a revamp.  For the birdbath, I have to fashion a camera box "hide". I think I can make one out of fibreglass. The previous camera hide was made out of a yoghurt pot!
At the moment, it seems to be unpredictable weather wise. I woke up expecting it to be blazing hot but it's "only" 23C. It'll no doubt clear up later and we'll be back to 30C+.  This is probably the ideal time to take the doggy walkies. Â
I'm quite worried about the dog.  We were doing tricks and some of them seems to hurt her. She was whimpering a bit. This is not a good sign.  I think she's got skin cancer - mastocytoma.  It's very common on the limbs of dogs. If it's not benign, she's got 4 months, if it's benign, 2 years. It must be benign because the vet says keep an eye on the area in question, if it gets bigger, then bring her back. It's very noticeable now on her leg.  She's almost 7 now, so if she lasts another 2 years, she'll be 9.  This is not so bad for dogs as an age but I hoped she'd go onto 12 or more. I am quite surprised about my reaction to this problem. She wasn't supposed to be my dog and try to keep distant but she seems to have become mine and ingratiated herself into my life.  Now I'm worried about her. The kids seem more interested in the cat. The cat is low maintenance.
Good tip on LIdl - corn and melon. Sounds like the beginnings of a party. I'm going to tell Mrs F.
I'm making Shepherd's Pie today.  We have a recipe from my (effective) SIL. He worked in many large kitchens and has a serious interest in food and chef type stuff.  His recipe is really rather good - it's spread like wildfire through our family such that everyone is making it. So Mrs F has bought the ingredients and I'm making it. There's quite a lot of preparation though. Chopping vegetables and assembling the other ingredients. I'll make it this afternoon.
BTW, Mrs F often puts stuff on the stove and forgets about it. I have to keep an eye on it. It's OK when I am here as I can monitor. So far we've not reached the level of smoke coming out. We do have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms both upstairs and downstairs so it'll go off if it got that bad.  Cheap thing to have but will save lives. Compulsory in new houses in the UK. Should be here too!
No. 1 HU sprog (UK expression, US: kid) has returned 1am from the Berlin music festival. She's likely to be very grumpy from lack of sleep. We'll be tip-toeing around the house until at least (a late) lunch time. I know from experience about being a grumpy. person.  It took me years to recognise being grumpy was caused by tiredness. Seems obvious but I didn't know.
It'll be a touchy subject but I have to push our eldest to get on with the driving license this summer. It's an ideal time to get it done. At 20, I think she's taking too long to prioritise it. I passed my test at 17. It was always a thing to do it as early as possible but some people take years to do it.  Couple of my nephews and nieces cannot drive and they are in or close to their 40s. I cannot believe this is not a priority for people. It's a life skill.  I currently take the kids driving in a private area where they can get used to it.  They are quite reasonable at the mechanical parts of moving the levers and pressing the pedals but they have low road sense. I guess that's a skill that's hard to teach.Â
Nice to have the family all safe and sound at home.
Those music festivals can wear you out.
I went to the US festival in the 8Os, in Ca; I double checked the old line up, Guess we went on a Sat; not the entire 3 days.
Picked my faves for that event;
Tom Petty closed the show, Pat Benatar, The Kinks,Eddie Money and The Cars.
My friend used to do Pats hair, she always had great haircuts.
I would not know any of the bands playing these days.

Yes, it was all K-Pop. I knew some of the artists - like Justin Timberlake. It was raining heavily so she left his outing. Not that I care about the line up there. I was always into rock and heavy metal. Kinks would have been alright. Never really got into Tom Petty or The Cars etc.
She took some really good photos of Berlin. Architecture styles. I think one of them is easily saleable.  Takes skill to frame a good picture.  Definitely talented.
Surprisingly she's not that grumpy. Maybe a good sleep this evening will sort it all out. Â
The Shepherd's Pie is made and ready for this evening. Takes ages to make things. It's a relatively complex dish for what it is.
Shepherd,s pie sounds tasty. I am sure it is more complex to make then a chicken pot pie.
I know Keith Richards is a huge fan of Shepherd,s pie.Think it is part of their tour contract, he demands a pie.
Read somewhere that someone once ate his pie and he flipped out on them.
Like anyone seriously would be afraid of him. All big talk from that weakling of a person.
I used to have such a crush on him, like 55 years ago that is!
In his pre denture days. Now he is scary looking. Sort of mixed feeling about him and Mick ever since Brian was offed.Something is fishy about that whole thing.
Off track, thinking of music.
Out of curiosity, I got on U tube to look at the concert from the US festival, guess it was in 1982.
Seems so dated but those were the days, my friend. As that song goes...
I worked around that time at Carltons hair salon in Westwood, Ca; Just a lowly assistant.
The red headed drummer from Pat Benatars band came in to see my friend Jerry, he brought in a women and child too. I remember the guy starring hard with a confused look on his face as I walked past to the shampoo station. My deceased sister could of doubled for Pat Benatar and I came in a close second; Same sort of odd face with small nose. Of course Pat is short.
It is a strange thing to see people who look like someone you know but do not.
I once got my uncle mixed up with my own father in Conn; Looked so much alike at first glance.
My friend ,Jerry cut Pats hair but she never came into the salon; He went to her home; He quit after a few years because she would call him at 3 am just needing a cut now. No amount of money is worth losing sleep over.
Hubby made pastry yesterday.
Dough came out more like bread then pastry but it is still good.
Never got around to fixing the curtains but there is always next time.
The Tomorrow land concert venue is burning to the ground.
Good thing it happened the day before it opened or many people would of been harmed.

Yes, going to be interesting to see how they are going to recover from it. As I don't go to those kinds of things, it's unlikely to affect me in any way. I presume they have insurance and can probably rent a stage pronto. I mean, if they can put up a stage for someone like Guns N Roses overnight (they were in Budapest a day or so ago), they can certainly solve the Tomorrowland venue. Maybe they can borrow a stage from a supergroup? But I do wonder if someone burnt it down deliberately.
It's Valley of the Arts (mainly HU language in the link) this weekend down near Veszprem. Runs right into August too.
It's expensive to attend. However, our art student daughter is one of the exhibitors so gets in free. Looks like we have to go because of that. Prefer if it was totally free.Â

I didn't know that about Keith Richard's interest in pies. That kind of demand in a contract for performers has a name - a "rider".  Some of the ones I've read about seem like the performers are just taking the mickey. Apparently Katy Perry doesn't like carnations. What she has against them is not clear!Â
Anyway, it was really tasty Shepherd's Pie but it took about 2h to make it.  I suppose the ultimate version has real shepherd's in it (😉). If shepherds are going missing, best to see if Keith Richards is playing locally.Â
The key seems to be the use of red wine and stock cubes with less water to give it an edge. And keeping the sauce thick.  It looks like it's my SIL's (honorary) signature dish. I've asked for new recipes. He does an excellent chili as well.
Pat Benatar I know about but she was a one hit wonder to me. I think I might have one album of hers on CD. I've put all my CDs away and stored them. These days, no-one needs them as it's all easily downloadable. I don't even remember the name of the track.
I was thinking of making a Thai soup for lunch. I'm not really moving fast enough to do it. Now the temperature is lower, I should do outside stuff to avoid being blasted. It's going to go back to high temperatures. We had a visitor last night so it seems like all the others are hungover from their G&T binging. Â
Riders, yes, forgot the band that demanded M&Ms but all the brown ones had to be removed.
Spoiled and petty stuff.
Glad the pie came out good; Now I want some beef.
Had a couple of meat free days and now it is time for meat or fish.
I can not believe I went without it for over 30 years. Crazy or what?
I see no difference really health wise, no difference in weight or energy.
Too much grease however is not great, makes one feel bloated and puffy.
My sister took me to see Keith Richards with his band the Expensive Winno,s for my 34th BD.
He was recording the concert for a CD/tape; That was fun.
I went to a few concerts with just my sister in the 80s.
Saw the Pretenders with her, she had free tickets. Saw the Stones with her, again somehow she scored DJ tickets. We had good seats and access to the DJ room where they served free drinks and food.
We paid to see the Winno,s though;
I used to think I was a pretty calm person but at that Stones concert I got so angry at a fellow concert goer.
My husband was nice and stayed home watching our son and I wanted to just go and come home when it was ovr with.
Well I brought my husbands nice pair of binoculars too see up close.
I shared with my sister; she started chatting with a women next to her and I let her use the binoculars once or twice.
They were strung around my neck. IDK happened so fast but that nutty strange women grabbed them out off my hands while they were still on my neck! About disjointed my neck!
Idiot, I told her to F off and did not let her use them again.
People!
As we were leaving towards my car, I was the driver that day. The women told my wild sister she knew where a party was going on.
I said no, I had to get home.My sister and this stranger who already was on my last nerve begged me to drive over just for a quick visit; IDK where that women,s ride was or how she got to the concert but it was not up to me to drive her anywhere.
Well, like the fool I am I said OK, but it was going to be super short because my husband would be pissed about it and I really was not interested in going.
Well the women knew the address, or so we thought; Had me going up and down some st. for way too long;
Lost it, stopped my car, told her to get out and threw a dime at her saying call yourself a cab.
Gosh my sister could get me in some odd situations at times.
Have to watch the company one keeps, even if it is family.

The Thai stew went a bit wrong. I left it bubbling but I should have checked on it. I nodded off and it was overcooked. It looks a bit disintegrated as the veggies lost their shape. Mrs F is trying to do magic with it now. I don't think it'll matter. Once eaten, that warm fuzzy feeling will be the same regardless of what it looked like.  I'll fall asleep the same either way!
Now the Pretenders is one of my all time fave bands. They were good. Really good. I feel like a listen now! I cannot say I'd go to see Keith Richards anywhere, free or otherwise.
I ran out of steam today. I had so many plans. I get ups and downs on my meds. I could have laid on the sofa for the best part of the day. This is one insidious thing about diabetes - knocks the stuffing out of you. Really needs some determination to actually move. Not recommended.
Meanwhile, I replaced a broken bulb in a car. I managed to fix my loose axe (US:ax) head on to a new wooden handle. I don't know how they fix them on in the factory as they make a damn better job of it than me. I had so shave the handle down a bit. Probably a bit too much. I could have heated the axe head up and forced it onto the handle. I reckon I could never have got it hot enough.  Anyway, lost interest and started watching people repair cars on the Internet. Great.
I don't like lending people things. Particularly tools. Binoculars or otherwise.  Once, our neighbour tried to borrow my chainsaw. Judging by the non-athletic shape of the neighbour and the large size of the (dead) tree and its proximity to my house, I had to say it was broken and unavailable.  Really, get a tree surgeon in and get it down that way - with someone who has professional insurance.
Mrs F has an idea to ask our other neighbour if their trees are insured if they fall over and damage our property. That's really not a bad idea. If their tree falls, it'll take out our shed and possibly a chunk of our house roof!  Be fairly direct way to ask them if they've thought about the risks for themselves.
Neighbors.
One nice thing about when you rent.
Call the manager for any repairs.
Most of the original owners in our old hood in Ca; had gardeners come once a week and pool men to clean the pools.
Of course they paid far less on their mortage then we did.
Most had paid off homes so could afford extra luxuries like outside help.
We had the energy back then too; Husband mowed once a week and did the edging on the lawn, I helped with clean up and raking if needed.
He cleaned our pool and I kept an eye on scoping out fallen leaves.
I trimmed the Cypress trees that were on 3 sides of our corner home.
No one else seemed to care about keeping them neat and even.
The guy we bought the house from must of had his gardener do it because it seemed to fall on us.
They do not grow too fast, thankfully.
Brick walls and the tress gave us allot of privacy.
Allot of work to have a house.
Yes, loved the Pretenders, my deceased sister had that same sort of attitude as Chrissy has. She played the bass and drums but never was in a band.
Picked up a couple ears of corn and a watermelon from Lidl.
Will try the melon later on; Actually come to think of it, we did not buy the sale melon, they were too large and only 4 left. Paid 299 a kilo for a different type.
I know about having an illness take the wind out of you.
I am pretty much back to normal but having that bad reaction to chemo and then radiaition really knocked me out for a very long time. Even walking up the stairs to our flat would take the wind out of me. Crazy since my lungs and heart are in great shape.
Having a long term health issue is a concern.
I used to walk from our flat to the great market hall and back again without a second thought.
Now an hour walk back and forth would cause me to take a nap.
I used to walk from Buda castle back and forth too.
Even to Margret Island and home again after walking around the Island.
Age or illness, IDK but the old grey mare, ain,t what she used to be!
I am loving this cool weather, next week it will be summer again , that is fine too.
Any day we can open our eyes up is a good day!
Saw a video this morning about big chances in the UK for retired people.
Looks like hard times are coming. No more free meds, no more free travel and they are raising the retirement age and restricting pensions.
Getting more and more like the US!
I told my husband that after being away from the US for so long, the thought of it makes me feel like I am being dumped into a shark tank! No mercy there.
Wanted to share our Lidl shopping trip adventure from yesterday.
Nothing really shocking but more about attention seekers and hygiene issues.
In line to check out put our things on the counter and put up a divider between itmes for the next customer. An older lady behind us with chicken breasts.
Next time I turn back, she was pushed back by a Tranny guy. He and his little sweet roll.
Not my business but he was not your everyday shopper. Had male pattern baldness with a high hairline but also had waist length dry bleached out hair with 8 inch dark roots. In a ponytail.
He kept reaching over our items to grab more dividers. Lidls little helper.
What got me is how he kept swinging his hair all over everyone,s items, ours too.
He had a day old 5 o,clock shadow as well as a nice C cup.
Made me think of Aerosmith, dude looks like a lady;
My deportee friend in SF is in a shelter with Tranny men running the shelter. Most shops have Tranny men working in them and she told me they are super mean to straight women; Not like in the old days when they were nice to women. She has been called names and told not to dress in dresses by them.
Not sure where all the hate came from but defo the flower children have left SF,Ca.

I don't think much is happening in the UK on healthcare except the usual discussions. Over 60 or a child, free meds. Over 18, flat payment for meds - about £10 a prescription (even if more than one med) - except when it's a chronic condition when it's free again.  Very little checking there. Just tick the box on the form.
The UK retirement age has been creeping up. I thought it was 65 but when I checked, it's now 66 for me. Actually, I cannot get that part of a pension until I am 66.5.  Why the difference from 66 and 66.5? I have no idea - presumably delaying payment.  Denmark is proposing 70 as retirement age.
Messing about with the pensions is not a vote winner. People are not going to like that and retirees aren't going to keep quiet. It's not the same as the USA. It's universal healthcare and it's never going to be withdrawn.Â
It sounds to me like the US is in seriously deranged mode over Medicare (or Medicaid), whatever it is. As an aside, I cannot stand that bloke who looks like Harry Potter - aka Mike Johnson. When I see him waffling on, my hand is going to the off switch. Some of those faces I see are really the kiss of death. No humanity in these people.  Those people are the sharks you speak off. Prepared to get one over on someone else while having no morality or ethics.
Meanwhile, I was "amused" to hear Trump has some illness to do with his veins.  Well, welcome to the long term health conditions club Donny.  While you stuff up people with no medical cover, you get sick yourself. I don't wish sickness on anyone but Trump and his cult I'll make an massive exception for. Â
I wonder if this is going to improve when the infamous Epstein files are released - apparently Donny told Epstein happy birthday supposedly using his signature Sharpie pen. Donny's tone is somewhat different now. I wondered if the guy is getting tired. But the hope is this is going to implicate him big time. We'll see if he makes it out of that scandal untouched.  My schadenfreude meter needs a bit of a nudge as it's been quiet enough these past weeks.
I swept up the garden a bit this morning. Friday is bin day so that's done but a lot of leaves were left around. At least the trash has gone.  Mrs F bought a melon but I don't know where she got it from. I'm unlikely to eat it as I don't like the seeds. I prefer the yellow melons.
If your sister was able to play with a band, it would have definitely upped her skill levels unless she was an expert anyway. I know that talking to others who could play and sharing riffs and stuff was a great way to learn and improve. My guitar was stolen in 1994 and that, together with a lack of talent, really ended my non-existent musical career. These days, just ask ChatGPT to knock up a bit of music. No skill required!
Wanted to share our Lidl shopping trip adventure from yesterday.Nothing really shocking but more about attention seekers and hygiene issues. In line to check out put our things on the counter and put up a divider between itmes for the next customer. An older lady behind us with chicken breasts.Next time I turn back, she was pushed back by a Tranny guy. He and his little sweet roll. Not my business but he was not your everyday shopper. Had male pattern baldness with a high hairline but also had waist length dry bleached out hair with 8 inch dark roots. In a ponytail. He kept reaching over our items to grab more dividers. Lidls little helper. What got me is how he kept swinging his hair all over everyone,s items, ours too.He had a day old 5 o,clock shadow as well as a nice C cup.Made me think of Aerosmith, dude looks like a lady;My deportee friend in SF is in a shelter with Tranny men running the shelter. Most shops have Tranny men working in them and she told me they are super mean to straight women; Not like in the old days when they were nice to women. She has been called names and told not to dress in dresses by them. Not sure where all the hate came from but defo the flower children have left SF,Ca. - @Marilyn Tassy
I always thought of SF as being a haven for the LGBTQI+ alphabet soup people. Mrs F and I were there in the 1990s but we thought we'd see more going on but we didn't see anything at all. I guess things have changed.Â
We've got LGBT people in our wider family and some questioning people or even people still in the closet but everyone knows they bat for both teams (probably). They need to have the benefit of the doubt as life is tough enough as it is. And what does it matter anyway?
On the other hand, I like to think I am super tolerant but I just read on Asean Today (it's a web site like expat.com) about some "ladyboys" in Thailand robbing some disabled guy in an electric wheelchair.  It's just not what I would expect from anyone, let alone LGBTQI+ people. Where are people keeping their conscience these days? Obviously at home in a forgotten box!
And it sounds like the community is giving your deported friend a hard time. Being rough and tough is going to give that group a bad time and stick labels on all of them. I wish people could just be nice to each other. Â
Mrs F and were looking a dog walking but there's a hint of rain. Not sure if we should go or not. Might be a few drops but we're unlikely to get drenched.
I just learnt my son has bought himself an electric scooter. That's yet another thing to worry about.
Electric scooter? Hope he wears a helmet, those things can fly.
We have issues with most of the sidewalk scooter and bike riders, we give them space but many seem to think it is funny to see pedestrians as bowling pins; Nearly knock into you.
I respect the ones who ride in the street.
Unless they are going the wrong direction and expecting cars to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting them.
Just randomly going this way and that weaving in the lane.
Speaking of slamming into cars, people and objects,
Yesterday we saw a guy get up and run after he hit a car while running into traffic.
We just got off the bus from the farmers market and saw a guy jumping in place wearing workout gear. Then he just ran into the street with traffic on coming!
Then a chubby policeman ran after him, police sirens heard all over, police cars zooming down Hussar Utca; On the bus people were saying something about police and a crowd was gathered on the sidewalk one block before our stop.
My husband shouted to the running cop, he went that way!
Then as my back was turned to walk on, we heard a loud crunch and metal. Turned to see the guy laying in the road.
I thought he had broken his legs, they were twisted back; No, he got up and ran off!
Guess his adrenaline was rushing in his body.
Wonder if they caught him and how sore he is today!
Getting very hot today, looks like lake time again!
Yes, not sure what happened with the gay community.
My husband can be both very open minded and then very conservative, depends on the situation and his Libra mood;
We went to a house party in the early 1980s at my bro and SIL place in Ca;
She had tons of gay male friends and there were at least 6 guys at the house party;
My husband had no issues chatting with them.
One guy he spent allot of time chatting with turned out to be dying from AIDS.
My husband thought it was a real shame since he was so nice and quick witted and good looking too.
If people just treat each other as humans there should be no issues.
Ego, self doubt etc; make people act mean. There was a time where the only male friends I had before meeting my husband were all gay. One let me live in his apt and made sure I was going to school etc; No grooming no anything funny, just a nice caring person.
Oh well, judge not least you be judged.
As long as children are safe, it is not my business. Being gay does not make anyone a child molester.
Most child molesters seem to happen under family situations.
My 3 cousins were all molested by their father!
My poor auntie, she was at work while this was going on. Her husband had a drinking problem, he quit, found Jesus and tried to make amends.
Make sure your son knows the rules of the road before riding his scooter, hand signals and all.
On the topic of road rules,
My idiot halvie lost her driving license the other day.She lost everything her SS card her food stamp card, bank card, not like she has anything in the bank to lose;
I swear she is getting worst living with our eldest sister then she was a year ago;
Nearly 60 going on 16!
I did not know that since taking the bus into the city to sell her plasma, the ride is 2 hours long each way!
What a silly thing to do. Better off cleaning toilets for the 8 hours of travel time then making a bit and ruining your health to boot.
4 hours 2 times per week plus sitting in the blood clinic for hours;
Lazy or what?
OK so since her car overheated and so far she has not even looked at it or added antifreeze which the elder one bought for her, she has been riding the bus.
Can not even walk to the stop, gets the older sister to drip her off!
She took the bus IDK several times but this last time she got bus fare from the older sister and took the wrong bus!!
She never made it to the blood clinic but called for a ride from the Mall of America in the city!
While finally realizing she was on the wrong bus she left her wallet on the seat to talk with the driver;
Who usually rides a bus, low life scumbags.
Yes, someone lifted her empty wallet, no cash but all her IDs.
My husband said in the future she needs a fanny pack, I said no, she needs a papers pinned to her chest with her name and who to call if she gets lost!!
WTH??
I swear, when I hit the lotto first thing is I am checking her into a mental care home!!
I am getting very worried about the elder sister, this silly extra stress and work are not good for her either.
Her phone has been cut off for none payment so now it is up the the eldest to call and find replacement cards for her.
I tried to help by looking for all the contact numbers but that is it. Not sending money just to have it thrown down the toilet.
I see now why some people distance themselves from family.
Electric scooter? Hope he wears a helmet, those things can fly.

Sounds like the escapee hit by the car was up to no good. Bag snatcher maybe? I doubt any of the cops here could outrace a 3 year old. I see a lot of them smoking. Really? Explains much about their health. For some reason, blondie haired young women seem to be cops too. Doesn't really fill me with confidence.Â
I am not to happy about my son's electric scooter. Probably in his mind, this is one of those best to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission type decisions.  He has agreed to wear a hat and safety gear and Lidl is selling some this coming Thursday.  That's something at least.Â
It seems to be prompted by his friends all having them. He's got two friends and they all dress the same and have the same haircut and scooters. When I see them from a distance, I cannot even recognise my own son. We've started calling them "the clones".Â
It seems to be a thing to take your scooter on the bus to wherever you are going and use it there. I can see quite how that would work.  I do worry of course. I had several motorbikes when I was younger. I came off them a couple of times due to my own stupidity. If I hadn't been wearing a helmet, it would have been curtains for me.  These days, I am not even sure I could ride my bike, never mind a motorbike and I'd need a scooter with a seat as standing up banging over bumps is not good.  I have tried one but they are quite dodgy with their small wheels.  One feels every bump.  Anyway, I'm told they have to get a scooter certificate and insurance. It's about 5K HUF a year. It seems like a priority to me to get that organised.
Meanwhile, the problem with the right wing political types is they conflate gay with child molesting.  That's how the politicians currently do it. It might seem all very clever but it's really nonsenscial.  But being gay has been around forever. I'm reading a book about London currently which talks about Paris as the City of Love and compares it to London as the City of Lust. All kinds of debauchery was endemic and unstoppable.  It says as far back as 1100 (yes, ~1000 years ago!). Or further, even the Romans discussed it. this kind of thing was written up by scribes of the time. It only started to get under control in the 1500s. Anyway, I'm not far into the book so far so maybe surprises will be revealed.
And here, of course, we had that highly amusing party going on in Brussels where some HU right wing politicians were caught participating in a gay orgy during a police raid with the main HU guy escaping down a drain pipe. Thing is, it wasn't actually illegal for adults to engage in consensual activities. Just hypocrites. Nudges the meter a bit so all good for me!
BTW, I just read an article on the BBC about Ellen deGeneres moving to the UK to avoid Trump. While I don't care for her comedy, chat show and so on, I did find it interesting. Rosie O'Donnell is in Ireland and in a spat with Trump as O'Donnell has a a LGBT child. O'Donnell has Irish ancestry (grandparents) so will become an Irish citizen very quickly. Lucky her. Out of Trump's America and an EU citizen too. All good.
Ellen went to the UK which surprised me as her wife Portia is a dual Australian-US citizen. Why they didn't go to Oz, I don't know? But there are quite a lot of Americans living in the UK anyway and they chosen to live in the Cotswolds which is a lovely place to live - beautiful (and old and ancient) scenery. One of my cousins retired there.  All of these refugees from Trump people must be loaded so they aren't going to be struggling. I expect Ellen and Rosie will start turning up on local TV and local films a lot. Nothing wrong with that.
I've got a bit of paperwork to do today as someone asked me if I wanted to do some work. Very boring but maybe it'll be worthwhile as it's on a holiday island.  I've been there working before but it was 20 years ago. I looked on Google Maps and it seems much improved and cosmopolitan. It'd only be for 15 days. What could go wrong? I plan on taking a high level view and spending a lot of time in coffee shops looking at the ocean/harbour.  It'll never happen!
I received some metal table legs from the MIL's house which I plan to use upside down and convert into more wood storage. Just a bit of welding.  If I stored all the wood from the MIL's place, we'd have enough wood for 5 to 7 years of winters. We've already got 2 or 3 years worth here and it's getting a bit much.  Mrs F is complaining we have too much wood and we're not using it fast enough - winters too mild. I can see where she's coming from. The hot weather today has put me off. I might have a go at it past 16h when the sun has started to set and if my back is not playing up. I just have to put some strengthening bars in and also bend and MIG weld (uses a welding gun). I'll stick some tubes on as legs. It's an easy job in theory. Then jet wash it, let dry, get the paint spray gun out and spray, let dry and then position to stack up the wood.
I think it is a good idea to have a scooter certificate and insurance.
I really doubt most people have them though.
Those food delivery drivers seem to ride like they are back in their own country without rules.
Just off of Hussar Utca and Rackozi is a large apt.house.
Everyday the ground floor is used to pray.
Must be 50 to 70 bikes parked on the sidewalk, all food delivery bikes .IDK, if the property value of those flats went down because of that or not.
I know I would not be interested in large groups of people in my house 5 times per day.
Maybe they are paying the common costs of the residents as part of the deal?
We went to the lake yesterday.
Very peaceful but the wind started in the afternoon.
Today looks windy as well.
Our express train was right there but early, silly me my husband wanted to get on but I thought being 10 mins early was too much and it was the wrong train.
Had to wait 30 mins for the next train out; A slow train at that, stopped at every single station on the way.
I actually almost forgot what I was on the train for, it was so boring.
Yes, seems my sisters had a 3 to 4 hour verbal fight the other day.
I used to miss them but reality might not be good.
One thinks the world of herself and the other is bossy.
Sad, like 2 old cat ladies, dog ladies too.
The younger one is beyond hopeless and lazy.
I do not understand why she thinks the elder one has to care for her and pay her way.
She never adopted her.
I really think the elder one is going to stroke out one of these days while arguing with the dummy one.
Sounds really nice to head out to a tropical Island for a few weeks, get paid for it too!
Just hope the wind dies down again because there is only another 30 days of official summer here in Hungary. After August 20, it all goes down.
IDK, when my friends and I were 16, no one rode a bike and God forbid a red scooter like a 9 year old.
Calif.culture I guess. We had allot of low riders in our town too; If they saw anyone riding a bike they would target you for pain and ridicule. No doubt about that.
My mom allowed me to take the driving course offered at our HS. She however said she would never buy me a car and pay insurance on it. She just could not afford to do that.
A few of my friends parents got them cars but they were your typical for the time big huge safe American solid cars, we never used the seat belts though. Some of those old car did not even have seat belts.
Only knew on boy about 17, a crazy red head I knew since age 10 who was killed in a crash. He was a Stoner, used drugs and was a passenger when he went through the windscreen. Lost his head! Felix A. Balboa, RIP.
Funny boy, used to eat banana skins just to freak everyone out. What a thing to be remembered for.
We would walk everywhere or hitch rides rather then be seen riding a bike like a nerd.
Times have changed.
I doubt it was a purse snatching the other day.
Happening close to Rottenbiller St. and Rackozi.
A 60 year old women had her bag snatching outside our house about 12 years ago.
The jerk knocked her to the ground and ran off; Lucky a few good citizens stopped their cars and ran after him. Held him till the police arrived. The women went to hospital and the cops just wrote the guy a ticket to appear in court; Her bag was recovered so they did not arrest him on the spot.
Not sure where the justice was for that lady.
Checking herbs for cleaning the arteries and found an interesting one that does more then that.
Good for many conditions, diabetes, osteoarthritis, blood clots that can form while taking long haul fights.
Made from pine bark.
Pycnogenol. It is good to take 3 times per day for a week before and after a long haul flight.
Can be found in smaller traces in Apples, cranberries, grapes and lucky me, red wine too.
I will be looking into finding this online or in a health food shop soon.
Of course vitamin E, D and C help with every health need.
It also seems the biggest thing missing form most people is magnisium .
I got a slight, and I mean slight ego boost yesterday when I was asked by the female ticket agent on the train for my ID. She probably needs her eyes checked but I will take it.

At this stage, I'd probably go for anything to control my blood glucose (BG) levels. The current method is not to eat anything. It's really a problem. Things like grapes or bananas send my BG levels into orbit. And that's where the damage is. It's very difficult to make other people work on it too. Even Mrs Fluffy thinks she's being kind but she's helping me die. I've had to become almost rude with people over refusing food. They say, go on, have another helping and I have to be really blunt - like, "I've already said I cannot do it so please do not ask again". It's a Hungarian thing.Â
Luckily the weather is not as hot as yesterday. It'll be OK to be in the shed today.  Yesterday was too much and far too hot. I've got a lot to do over there in Shedland. I've done my Resume/CV for this small job on a holiday island. I have no real hope and I'm indifferent really. Like meh, if it happens fine, if it doesn't I'm not that bothered. But it's like the lottery, one has to be in it to win. On the other hand, the pension will kick in January 2027. I feel like I'm idling/coasting down to that. Â
We were at the vet's this morning at 09.30h. The cat has a limp on the front right paw.  So the vet thinks she's got an infection in her shoulder and possibly also a pulled muscle. So she's had some antibiotics to fix her up and will get more during the week and re-check on Friday to see if there's improvement. We're supposed to keep her inside but she's already escaped.  It's good business at the vet - wham bam, that's 14K HUF, thank you Ma'am. I guess that's about $40. Â
I used to get asked about my age but it depends who it is and where. Interestingly it's most noticeable on racial lines. Not being funny but some types of people don't seem to be able to recognise white weather beaten and lived in faces more than others. I don't notice it so much here but in Asia they don't seem to be able to grasp it in the same way. I just think it's not being familiar with aging Caucasian faces rather than local faces. I guess if we can see grey hair, we get it but if we've got dyed hair, then the clues are missing.  It's question to muse about this afternoon. Â

Those food delivery drivers are all paid in cash. It's a big thing in the UK. I heard reports they are making £100-£200 a day in tips and fees. I've no idea if that's really true or not. Apparently no-one is checking up on them in the UK and most of them supposedly are illegal immigrants and asylum seekers.  That's the political view. No-one else will be doing that job in all weathers.
I guess your sisters are just being them. It'd be hard to know what to do with someone who is encroaching on your life so much. But it might be they have to go their separate ways. Perhaps this is the only way. Be a shame for the sensible one to be put in a tough position.
My nephew has told me his "trust income" (sort of) will expire in 2 years.  The "trust" will have to wound up when my BIL passes which looks more likely within 2 years. I reckon my sister will just wind it all up, sell everything, downsize and bank the nest egg.  With my BIL's passing, there's no-one capable of running it but the cash alone will generate plenty. They've got loads. I'm not going to worry about them at all.  It'll easily last their remaining lifetimes.
I read a statistic once where elderly people (and 60 is not that elderly) have a much higher chance of dying if they are mugged than if they just were at home watching TV. I mean, mugging can actually kill the victim even if they aren't assaulted. Possibly just stress.Â
I didn't sleep well at all last night. I keep nodding off now so that's going to be a vicious circle - sleep now and not sleep later. Dreadful.
IDK, I am always bothering my husband to walk to the right on the sidewalks, leave space behind him to let any bikes or scooter pass since most do not give warning and if they do they do it last min and expect you to jump .
I do not understand people who walk with ear pods or headphones on or those lost in the phones.
I am big on situational awareness.
I look behind me if I hear foot steps too close etc.
I look in shop windows for reflections behind and around me.
Not paranoid but I was jumped here when on crutches. Hit back with my crutch but most people would probably freeze up.
I bug the heck outta my husband to walk faster and keep his head on a swivel. It is war out there!
I anticipate trouble and sadly am never disappointed.
My eldest sister wants her freedom and home back but for some reason she does not want to dump the younger one. Her Christian duty she thinks. She says it is karma for never having children of her own, now she is raising her sister?!
I do not see it that way.
Being used and abused has a limit.
Maybe the food delivery riders in the UK are making bank but in Hungary I would be surprised if the average tip was a 200 forint coin.
In Lidl a month or so ago in front of us in line were 4 of those rider dudes.
They were pulling their coins to pay for a couple of snacks.
The store clerk was slowly counting out 5, 20 forint coins, took forever just to get a couple thousand forints counted up.
You would need to make $100 or more a day to live in London.
My American hairdresser friend about 25 years ago here in Budapest told me she worked at Hajos beauty salon for a short time.
Those rich Buda ladies would tip her 100 forints for spending hours on lifting their hair.
I know, worked for tips myself, the best tippers are other people who work for tips.
I made serious tips in Vegas but after 911 they dropped to almost half.
Never really fully recovered since then either.
Not kidding in 2000 I was making an hourly wage dealing and every single day tips were a good $245; to $260. no sweat either, was actually very boring working in a upper class local casino in Summerlin. That was nothing either, strip casinos pulled in $500; or more a shift as a dealer. Sometimes as high as over $1,000; a shift when a big fight was in town. That is why everyone aimed to work on the strip. I just heard they are laying off dealers all over Vegas, just having one live dealer and allot of AI machines. I dislike AI!
The problem with being a delivery guy is if you pull a muscle or are ill. Hard to ride with the flu or cold.
Can not fake it.
I wonder if the drivers on mopeds make better money then those on bikes; I have even seen delivery guys on the tram and bus!!
No thinks, do not need extra germs with my order;
Walking up and down flights of stairs all day long has to get old.
We usually tip 500 forints for a vitamin delivery, not much more then that, just a small order.
They charge a packing fee and another 1,500 just to get home delivery, extra 2,000 when I am willing to go in person for pick up. The system is rigged, they no long let us do our own pick up; Going to not order from them any longer.
I would never pay to have food delivered to my home.
Playing allot of Ozzy on the radio, RIP! Poor Sharon, she is wasting away herself.

No thinks, do not need extra germs with my order;
- @Marilyn Tassy
I was surprised Ozzy passed just 2 weeks after his appearance on stage. Maybe it just took too much out of him. He was doomed anyway. As I have posted, my BIL is on the slippery slope to the grim reaper with Parkinson's. He's now at the point where he cannot stand up without falling over. I wondered if Ozzy was strapped into that throne for his final appearance.  Well, his fight is over.Â
As for Sharon, I'm sorry to say I've never liked her at all. I think she's too much in your face and opinionated. I did watch the Osbournes but I phased out on it after a few episodes as I really do not like her much. To be fair, she'll no doubt be looking at monetising Ozzy's legacy. I'd do the same. She's got to eat too.
Yes, I think with 200-500 HUF tips (500 HUF is top end), they are never going to be making money on deliveries but in the UK, I reckon the delivery fee is split 50-50 with the food seller.  So they could be making like 1000 HUF per delivery (that's about £2.50) and doing 15-30+ a day at all hours depending. That could mean close to the $100 a day. All cash, no taxes and no immigration considerations. Mixing my currencies there but sounds right. Winter riding would be dreadful.Â
I used to ride my motorbike in the winter. I could end up with frostbite and take a good half a day to warm up. My hands were so cold, I used to wrap them around the cylinder head on the bike. I was wearing about 4 layers too. Jeez, talk about cold, it was absolutely freezing what with the chill factor. I saw very few other bikers as I crossed country back to my parents house from where I was living. My Dad told me to get silk pilot's gloves but never knew where to get them. I ended up wearing a pair of my Mum's old evening gloves, leather bikers gloves and then waterproof fluorescent mittens. My friend had electrically powered gloves. He had sense and knowledge. He made the gloves himself!
I much prefer deliveries to the drop boxes. It just saves waiting in and collection is 24x7 so we can do it on our schedule, not theirs. We have many of those drop boxes around here. I also like we can do Cash-On-Delivery and pay by card at the machine.Â
We shouldn't be buying stuff.  We are absolutely cramped here through masses of stuff. I feel almost helpless to get rid of it.  We're using the grandfather's house as overflow but when we get there, I begin to feel overwhelmed by the magnitude of the MIL's and FIL's junk we have.  Something has to change! Â
We were at the grandfather's house earlier this week and in the MIL's place and it's just shocking. It's those f**king books my FIL and MIL accumulated - both of them were Hungarian language teachers.Â
As I said before, it's between, 700 and 1000 of them. There's a room full of them. Some shelves are so overloaded with books, they are bending and could collapse.  Some of them might have money in them - they were the same as all the other Hungarians. They hid their cash.  All of these items have to be examined. I keep telling Mrs F we need to just start boxing them. She's also depressed at the thought of it. I've said, let's photograph the covers, stored them in boxes alphabetically and then we can see if there's any value in them. Really the kids should get involved - see if they can find something valuable and we can split the money.
The good news is that the probate is settled, money has to be paid in taxes and fees netted off against some government money owed to the MIL. Then the house is Mrs F's and her brother's place and they can make any changes they agree on.  Without professional help, it's going to be a massive job to fix it all up. It'll need contractors for sure.
Congrats on the probate!
I hate to think of that, if God forbid I am alone here, my son and I would have to deal with that;
Seems like it took over a year?
I have no desire to move back to the US so would wait it out here;
We all dislike thinking the worst but one day the worst can happen.
I think that might be the only way to get our son over here to HU If he is going to get something out of it.
I can not see myself here alone but I also can not see myself anywhere alone.
My sisters would love me to live with them but I know I would be an idiot to do that!
Our son wants me in Japan, can not see that either, a visit is another matter.
We had a full suitcase of English books we sold to a small HU book store. Got, IDK, maybe 13,000 for around 60 books; Not all were in good condition; She buys HU books too. A shop in the 9th district.
We lugged the suitcase on the bus over there as parking was not easy to find.
I kept them way too long but during covid thought, never know they can always double for TP§
So practical. As a kid mom supporting us alone for a couple years so not easy. Between her paychecks we might run out of TP. Se would bring in newspaper to use!!
Tricks she learned during the depression!
She also would keep slivers of bar soap, put them in a stocking to use the entire bar up.
Another depression tip!
I would defo double check for hidden money in the books!
You may be able to place an add to rid yourself of all the books at once?
I know, Sharon has a hard personality. Seems she was running the show for Ozzy. I know her father was his old manager or agent. She is killing herself with that Ozempic medication to lose weight. She has gone too far with it.
The kid from the old Bill Cosby show, Jamal died the other day from drowning on holiday, now Ozzy, wonder who is next?
Wish someone had a trust fund set up for me.No such luck.
What gets me is all of my cousins from my fathers side, male and female are pretty much set and well off.
Too bad all the selfish DNA went to my father and not his siblings.
I know for a fact that at least 2 of my cousins are members of the Freemason society. One was the MC in a local parade, wearing his Turkish hat another just bragged about being in the Elks club.
Where do you sign up for that?? Just kidding dark stuff if you dig deep into it.
They are not high level, still just the masons who try to do good deeds, no human sacrifices or skull and bones stuff.
It is not easy to tell them my older sister is suffering because of lack of money. They can not relate.
I remember back in Conn. When we were the well off ones not them.
My father dropped the ball for sure. All my cousins on my fathers side, his sisters that is, married Italian men. hard working family guys.
All my cousins on both sides went to the same HS in New Britain. Pulaski HS. Defo a Polish hood!
BTW, here's an article describing the asylum seekers renting food delivery accounts in the UK.Â
I'm not against legitimate asylum seekers.Â
But some people are clearly using exploitation much of it precipitated by government policy (I'd say).

Guess his asylum case has now been settled. Get out and stay out!
These sorts of playing it both ways people get on my nerves.
Just like those in the states who are not legally married but live on gov. housing with their boyfriends. The boyfriends father several children that live off the gov.
Free medical, free dental, free meds, free food and other perks.
Most of the guys are driving expensive new trucks because they do not need to pay to support their families. Let the sucker tax payers do it.
It burns me as I have mentioned many times, My US citizen mother supported 4 children and our dog on her factory job income. She had too much pride and self respect to ask the gov; to raise her children for her.
IDK what happened but in 1971 when my husband came to the US, he had 30 days to find a job.
He found one within a week without speaking any English. He had already been screened while in a refugee camp, they actually had several countries wanting to recruit him because of his machining skills.
Let me think, S.Africa, S; America, Sweden, Germany, Canada, USA, Australia. He said to himself, why not go for the big apple, USA. He arrived in the states ready to go and ready to work.
Seems anyone with an idea is excepted these days.

Yes, that guy is probably toast for running that renting accounts business on the side. But he'll claim some issue and if he has kids in the UK, then he's only likely to get a few years in the clink. Even with that, they serve half their sentence and the rest on licence/parole. It's very difficult to restrict people in the UK and the asylum system will allow it to drag out for years and years. Basically forever. There's no fast track deportation for those who have got themselves very well integrated. And the legacy Human Rights laws are the same as the EU.  The courts are so overwhelmed, it's probably non-existent for most.Â
It's not like the current USA, where people's rights can be ignored.  Not being nasty, it's that bonkersness which seems to be in the headlines. We don't have the same nuttiness at all in the UK. It seems a lot calmer although here, it's quite bad.  I keep saying that Trumpland is a clown show but now I begin to think it's like a reality show - made in his image. I have a complaint - there's not enough salacious gossip over Trump and Epstein. I reckon Trump is as guilty as hell. But that's me. I'd find them all guilty.
BTW, exciting news, my 35 year old daughter now in Ontario told me yesterday my honorary SIL was going to be an official SIL in September.  Yup, getting married in the local town hall. I like my new SIL so happy about that. It was inevitable as they'd been together a lot of years.  I think she's been thinking of kids too. That'd make my grandkids three way nationals - British, Irish and now probably Canadian. If it happens.  It'll be another nationality to add the membership of the Fluffy United Nations. Yay for Canada!Â
I'm definitely ready to be a grandparent now I'm a hairs breadth from being 65!  It's a bit odd. I'm looking at grandparents with their grandkids and I'm feeling a bit envious. Our family name on my line may not survive unless my son gets on with it when he's a sensible age. He's only 15 so right now, we don't want any surprises!
Well, Congrats again!!
Would be sweet if you could attend the wedding but living so far away is not easy;
I never attended any of my sons weddings although we were suppose to for his first in Hungary. he cancelled it and married after we left.
Was invited to his wedding in Japan, they were already married in Vegas but did it again in Japan for her parents. They paid for it all, everything except their flights to Japan.
The entire family went with them on their honeymoon to Okinawa too!
IDK, if that is the custom there or if everyone just wanted a holiday and it was a good excuse to go?
My husband is envious of people with grandchildren too. He also says our name will die out. No, his brothers son is a grandparent now!!
he is 6 months older then our son as well.
Just our line will die out, perhaps we have finished our time here for good?
My grandfather was 80 when I was born.
I do remember the old guy having me sit on his lap while he gave me coins for my piggy bank;
My mom would get all nervous and tell me to climb down carefully as to not hurt him.
No, he was a tough old guy, last saw him at age 92 and he still stood tall without using a cane.
He was nearly 50 when my mom was born, his first born.
Late bloomers.
My Vegas friend is always upset about Trump kicking people out. She said they are allowing fruits and veggies to get rotten in the fields, no one to pick them.
Poor thing, she fell again yesterday while entering the shower.
One of these times she is not going be to able to get up again.
No idea why they never added a walk in style tub or some other safer way to wash up.
Her husband who is 76 and seems fragile took an hour to drag her from the bathroom into the living room, she had her leg all twisted back and was in pain. The floor tiles were rough and today she is sore, he dragged her on the floor on a rug.
She has been ill for decades, seems a bit stubborn about excepting it and doing something about the shower stuff.
Even my wild, crazy brother knew enough to fix his shower after his amputation.
She has the money to a remodel if she wanted it.
Yes, no way do you want to have a 15 year old become a father, he can wait at least another 15 years.
We had a really cool Ca.party girl living in our old building before we bought our house.
It was so strange to see her with her son; She was 28 and he was 14!!!
Her parents raised him till he was 12 or so.
Well, Congrats again!!

Yes, an acceptable SIL is something to celebrate. I guess it might also say, job done. My older kids are older than I was when I came here. I don't need to supervise any of them of course! It's not really a child-parent relationship now, it's adult-adult. I am grateful for them making mostly decent and reasonable choices. Turns out no-one is going to the ceremony as it takes 10 minutes. I suggested they have a good dinner and bottle of something fizzy when they get home. They will take the day off. It seems to be the way - quick dash to the government office, get spliced, dash home and carry on as Mr and Mrs (or Mr and Mr or Mrs and Mrs). I forgot to ask if she was going to change her name. We'll find out one way or another!
I don't like the sound of that bathroom rescue. That's the second "wet floor" situation I've heard about. A colleague fell over and broke an ankle on a slippery tiled floor after exiting a swimming pool.  Now he has to repatriated back home with the insurers paying. Obviously the builders never thought of non-slip tiles. We have a lot of tiles here and I have to remind the others to mop up any water. I also installed grab handles. I use them but they seem to think I'm silly! Well, I won't be injured - fingers crossed - and they might well be. Oy vay, ay caramba.
The scooter will come today and I'm being asked to assemble it. His friends are coming over as well.  I really do not like this idea of rushing out on the scooter straight away. Should have some practice before meeting traffic. I'll have to be explicit, no main roads, side roads only and blah-blah. I will have to lend him some of my bike protection gear like gloves.  And no racing!  He might be frustrated as we'll need to charge it up for hours first.
Mrs F's parents had her at just 18. How silly was that?! But my good luck of course!
I remember when we bought a moped in the 80s, just for fun.
My husband showed my then 11 year old bro how to ride it, he said the most important thing to teach anyone driving anything from scooter to car is where the brake is.
Good luck with him not going on main roads, no doubt in short order he will get antsy and give it a go.
Hope there is a good bike trail for him to use near the home. Safer to start there.
Just had a long chat with my son in Japan. I had not chatted for a couple of weeks with him.Worn out now.
He loves to talk about nothing. What am I writing, allot of nothing, guess it runs in the family!
Yes my friend has been experiencing far too many shower falls.
She is a stubborn person, somehow it seems she refuses to except she needs help with some things.
I sent her a clip about a home health care chair;
I thought it was a rather good idea; It was fairly cheap and allowed for a person to sit in a shower while seated, needed to be pushed by a helper; The bottom could be removed and used over the toilet and easy to slip into from a bed or chair.
She was up in arms over it saying she did not want anyone pushing her around.OK then.
It was only for inside in a private home use, not in a public parade.
So not needing help to enter the shower but needing help when she falls apart on the floor.
I think it would be easier on her an dher husband if he helped her in and out of the shower then for her to fall, hurt herself and make him figure out how to pick her up without hurting himself too.
They recently bought a new car, think a Subaru, not sure. They have verbal fights every time they go anywhere, the car is too air for her to slide into and they fight about how to get her in and out of it.
Why did they not try it out before purchase? Why not buy a van and just stay in her chair?
I think she somehow has not excepted she needs to do things differently then a healthy person does.
When they had their home with swimming pool, she hardly used the pool because she could not get in and out without her husband carrying her.
IDK, all the money wasted on silly things could of been used to get a lift or make something to lift her in and out safely.
Not practical.
Sad thing her husband worked for American Airlines as a baggage handler, they could not be using free flying perks to travel around the world; Never use them.
Only once took a trip to Italy, she got so upset about things not being suited for her wheelchair that she came home a week early.
What a waste of free perks,my brother never used his either, barely.
Parents of employees could also fly for free, too back no siblings.
Wanted to go to the lake today but the wind.
Hope the weather is good the next few weeks because soon enough it will be time to unpack sweaters again.

I've had a look at the scooter and it looks quite posh and well made. It's got disc brakes, headlight, brake light and even indicators for turning. Charging time, 9h. Maximum range in Eco-mode is 55km and maximum speed of 25 km/h. That's quite substantial.  It should be that good as it cost 250K HUF. We bought him a fancy mountain bike a couple of years ago and it cost more. But these days, it seems scooters are the new bikes. His bike will languish unused. Weirdly they all wear the same style of clothes and go out with rucksacks.  Look like they are in some kind of cult or gang.
Today and tomorrow is probably the last of the good weather.  It'll be heavy rain and lower temperatures with a maximum of 25C - that's what it's showing.Â
I know some disabled or sick people resent their predicament. It's not unusual. Makes people angry with those closest to them if they feel they've been hard done by - transference. Not everyone is like that but both of us could easily be angry - me for diabetes and you for your illness.  On the other hand, we still have to get on with it each day.  No days off from any long term illness.Â
Shame she couldn't enjoy Italy. These days more attention is paid to disabled folks' needs but one only has to look around in Budapest to see endless problems for those with mobility issues.  But usually there has to be ways around it. Just needs detailed planning. These days, much less of a problem with the Internet.
I do agree, a small bus would have been a lot easier to get in and out of than a Subaru. My daughter told me a Subaru is a middle range car in Canada and popular because it's 4WD.  They'll need it because of the snow.  Austria used to sell Chrysler Voyager vans with 4WD. I'm watching some US TV shows on gold mining in Alaska. Everyone there has a pickup truck to carry junk around.Â
Seems like a good idea but for the average person living here, why would they need one? Yet I see lots of them which will never see any puddles, rough country or mud!  In the UK, we used to say 4WD SUVs were "Chelsea Tractors" - Chelsea being a posh, well-to-do area of London and they all had SUVs (aka Tractors) for driving in town. How inappropriate!
Well today is another day in Fluffy Town. I have to modify my wood storage frame. Stupidly I always cut the logs to 30cm and the metal supports are 32cm across as that was how it was made (not by me). Modifications are needed. However, I've strained my back again trying to stack the wood up on the wrongly sized frame. Big mistake. It always happens. I thought I was OK and could do stuff. Now I'm going to be hurting bending over etc. Slow learner!
250 K is more then I paid for a few cars in my life!
Wow sort of pricey.
We have looked in shop windows in the past at these electric scooters.
IDK, maybe 20 years ago before my knees got so sensitive it might of been a thought to get one.
I too would like a seat rather then taking all the shock in the legs.
6 years ago in Vegas I got a used bike from the Goodwill, got new tires and rode it within a few miles of home;Loved just popping on it to ride to the community pool in the housing area.
The pool was only 6 or 7 blocks from the house but when it is 112F no one wants to walk for 15 mins.
The bike was quick.
I would ride it to shop for dinner at the local Sprouts store, a sort of health food grocery store. Tossed everything in a backpack and it was quick and easy.
If I ever go back to the states I might just buy another bike, one with a basket perhaps??
No one walks in the states so it is OK to ride on the sidewalks.
So humid today, glad I thought it over a few times about moving to Fl. I could not take the humid weather for long.
My Vegas friend said she can no longer walk at all; Not even a few steps to the shower stall.
She is not against a walk in shower but does not want to construction right now.
My husband can be Mr; Doom at times, said she is not long for the world; IDK, Vegas odds , she outlives everyone.

250k HUF is about 740 USD.  It seems like a lot but it's really not even the price of an ordinary bike. Some of those are like $8000+ if made of carbon fibre, electric assist and so on.  It's an expensive indulgence that seems hard to justify, especially during the winter when no-one is going to use it.  But we didn't pay, he received a small inheritance from his grandparents so I guess that's where he paid for it. Anyway, winter will be just too damn cold! I do agree that an electric scooter is going to be hard on the knees but it's got full suspension so in theory should be kinder on the body.  There is a version with a seat.  I am not sure what I'd use it for but in any case, we've all asked for a lesson in the street. But maybe we'll wait until we go to Balaton (tomorrow) as it's quiet and flat there.
I'll be taking my bike down to Balaton. I am hoping my Scooter Fluffyette will come along as a minder on my bike rides. He can follow me on his new scooter and if I need assistance, he can help me by towing. Or if we can get to a place, Mrs Fluffy can come and collect us. I do have some concerns about cycling or even walking on my own.  Mrs Fluffy and I and the two older kids have Location Sharing permanently on with our phones.Â
So if something happens, someone can help maybe.  Some of those forest walks are really lonely and quiet. And the dog is useless in an emergency.  I keep asking the dog to do work around the house and she just looks at me like I came from Mars. 😉
Mrs F and I were in LV and all those places like Death Valley. No way anyone should be cycling in those places. If one is 20 years old and in fantastic health with plenty of water, it might work but it's asking for trouble any other time.
Regarding your friend, it's hard to say anything from a distance. Her hubby is the one on the ground. Most people don't seem to die suddenly, they seem to get these incrementally worsening condition, where everything piles up until the body has had enough. It's like it tries to keep going under all circumstances until something catastrophic happens. Life just wants to be, wants to exist, wants to continue.
When my Dad went, he had a great breakfast, was very cheerful, talkative and bam, something happened. Probably a stroke or a heart attack, more likely a stroke.  It was very quick, just seconds and no way he was coming back from that. In my Mum's case it was a disaster.  She just was suffering as her heart was failing. There was no way to fix it. Doctors told me the valves at the back were faulty and there was no way to reach them through surgery. So it wasn't working correctly and giving oxygen, there was nowhere to go. In the end, she was put in a coma and never regained consciousness.  IMHO, it was a merciful ending.
But fingers crossed your friend keeps going and has some QoL (Quality of Life). Â
My husband always tells me I worry too much about people who are not part of my everyday life.
Can not help it. No one enjoys hearing about suffering unless they are sick in the head.
My friends husband can not hear well so that is another issue. My husband says he is lucky, he can pull out his hearing aids, tune her out!
Man,funny, not funny.
Their problem is they seem to follow every thing doctors tell them and are worst for it.
Take this pill, get this test; Good I suppose , up to a point.
We have not gone to our family doctor for a couple years now. What for? All they do is send you here and there, waste your time and write out scripts that usually have side effects.
I am sort of glad we did not go to lake Velence on Friday, they had police there because a body was found at the lake.
Too windy today to go, I really wanted to put my feet in the grass and swim but guess it will be a windy walk day instead.
I would never ride a bike in mid summer anywhere, for sure not in Vegas. I do not enjoy the heat unless I am near water. Only good for a super short ride to the pool.
My brother had a professional bicycle in the 1980s. Think at the time it cost just under $1,000. It was shortly stolen.
A good lock is important, I am sure he had one but a bike like that should never be left in the open even for a moment.Locked or not.
I would get a bike if we lived outside the city. No place to store it in a flat and too many cars for me.
I and a friend bought Schwinn 10 speed bikes in 1974. $130. each from a bike shop;
At the time my car cost me $100.
Rode them around Burbank, no helmets but used hand signals in traffic.
Somehow I am not that brave any longer, or I just know better.
Was thinking this morning how little value a hundred bucks is these days.
First time in Hungary everyone wanted to see a US hundred dollar bill, no that is chump chance.
Congrats England- @SimCityAT
Penalty shootout is a win of course but that's always a bit of a roll of the dice.  But yay for England!
@fluffy2560
Yep 50/50 - @SimCityAT
One of the players were injured - fractured tibia or something. Really, that's real dedication.
Great win for England!
Bank holiday suggested for England and I can only agree on that despite living here.

How can anyone die in Velence? It's only about 3ft deep! Balaton is a bit different but not much. I think in places, it's up to 10m and there are places with swirling currents which can suck people down. Probably heart attack etc. I know a guy who worked in a massive shopping mall in the UK. Usually there was one death a week there - heart attacks, strokes, just dead etc. I suppose it was just a numbers game. Out of every 100K+ people passing through a week, X% would die there.  Remember that saying, one person dying is a tragedy, 1000 dying is a statistic. Might have been Stalin! Great!
I see the wind is back. What is going on? One moment, it's like being under the grille and the next, it's like a wind tunnel. It's only about 25C and I do like the slight freshness we're getting now.
My son needs to have a lock for his scooter. It doesn't have a key or any security. Just switch it on and go. I worry some ruffians will push him about and take it off him. We need to note all the serial numbers and see if we can set up a PIN code or some other security method or even tracking. The battery must be worth a lot. My bike is engraved with my name - in a hard to see place. It's also marked with a UV pen.
My hearing is screwed. I misunderstand people but the others think I'm too complicated and don't get stuff. I think it's really cultural issues or lack of care on the others' part.Â
Like Mrs F was going on about "Two Eggs the Same" (political advert) but I kept asking what it was about as it wasn't Easter. Turns out it's "Two Peas in a Pod". But she assumed I know what it was about.  But we don't have this "Two Eggs" saying in English.  It took quite a bit of discussion to work out what it all meant. I'm probably repeating myself. Came up again today.
Then I was shown a photo of some ugly person showing surprise and they kept saying read the caption which obviously I did but I kept asking who the person was and why was their opinion relevant to what I was reading. Again, I'm obviously culturally ignorant as I couldn't see the point. I was like, so what? It was some stupid meme. It was obvious as a joke and too simplistic. I'd even say it was pathetic.  It seems I'm a grumpy old person. Yeah, right.
Anyway, Balaton calls.....
