Height of kitsch.   Guy doesn't know anything about design.  I can only call it Grifter style.

He will stall until his dying breath.
He is on the list, might even be on the top of the list! - @Marilyn Tassy

Yes. Agree with that!

He's in serious dog do doo.  He's going to try and delay and delay so he doesn't get screwed in the mid-terms.  He's underwater in independent and well respect pollsters polls. He's very likely according to those polls to be a lame duck President.   He's got considerable and recent form on misogyny so smoke usually means fire.

That is very interesting to know your roots so far back.I know my fathers side was pretty much located in SE Poland, former part of Austria/Hungary going back to the 17OO,s probably further then that but can only see the tree with actual names and birth dates around that time.American roots, Native American and I suppose some from the slave trade since I recently found out we have 8.2 percent Sub African DNA, Over 4 percent of that being from Nigeria.I swear, I would probably make people mad if I claimed to be black! They would say I am pulling their leg.I do have soul however... Opps, that is probably not a PC thing to say!I can not however dance!I am just kidding around everyone has an interesting background with both good and bad actors in their history. The strangest thing I found in my sisters DNA test was the 10 percent Norwegian we have.Where did that come from?I know the Vikings explored in eastern Europe, perhaps that is it? - @Marilyn Tassy

I like the idea of having soul however that looks. Dancing is not a required qualification.  But you should have rhythm!

I'm not convinced by these DNA results.  We did my Dad as a present and he looked mainly English on the results.  But we know he had German in there. It was not that helpful doing DNA.

It's very difficult to trace roots back, especially across borders.  One of my ancestors is German but notes show she came from Hamburg.  As it happens, it seems that she actually came from Frankfurt.  Why Hamburg, no idea!  It's probably misspelling, wrong attribution, people with same names and all sorts.  And records were destroyed in WW2.  That's the same in the UK. Records office was bombed.

I have a fairly distinctive name but it has multiple spellings (or misspellings).  Example: if my family name was Smith, it might be written Smyth.  That's in some documents but others miss out letters and so on.   Very confusing.  And Smith, so many of them, how does one distinguish.

I'm doing it in the Mormons/LDS free tree searching - www.familysearch.org.  It's useful.   We enter data and if it matches someone else's work, it links it in, often finding links it would take years to research.  I put in a relatively low levels of data but suddenly, wham, LDS connects it.  Remarkably helpful.  Now we have family crests and mysteries are being solved and new questions are being opened up.  My aunt (RIP) did a lot of manual work and I've captured what she said.  Now we have direct links to Antrim, Northern Ireland.  Too far back to be useful though.

All I can suggest if that interested is to put in your own details and what you know.  In the end, LDS will help sort it out. All work is saved there, so absolutely safe and backed up.

I think we may have enough connectivity now to write a family history note of 3 or 4 pages to circulate/publish.  I guess it's not related to the actual family tree but the journey through the family tree and motivations and details of significant events during their history.

I forgot how many people are directly related Genghis Khan but millions of us.

He got around...

A distant American born cousin came to our family reunion in Poland, 11 years ago.

He learned fluent Polish and Rusyn.

His hobby was doing the family tree.

He did it for income for people with Polish roots to support his travels.

He printed out a list for each of us as a gift.

He traced my father,s side back to the mid 1770,s.

They all pretty much came from the same area without too much movement.

My German grandfather,s parents came to the US from Frankfurt.

Saw a photo of my G Grandfather and a G aunt as a child with my grandfather.

Looked like a very serious  person, his dad. Of course no one smiled back in the 1890,s in photos.

My fathers side seems to be filled with teachers and business people. Makes me wonder if perhaps we had some Jewish roots on that side? No matter, I am a full blooded, Heinz 57 mix!

My sisters DNA test also showed some middle eastern roots and Asian, Genghis probably?

It is interesting, if we could only cash it in!

My husband did a quick search in the HU National Archives.

It was not easy, had to figure out their computer system first; just about everyone in the building was a professional researcher and we got no help at all.

He found 2 family chests, some history going back to 1500.

One relation was the personal physician to a HU king; Too bad I forgot which one;

Another was a viceroy, filled in for another king when he was busy out fighting or whatever they did back then.

They had detailed lists of taxes the family had paid, list of a female relation and her lands and farms, how many workers she had etc.

I do have a Latin motto of the family somewhere around here. I copied it off the computer site at the archives.

Sounds like his family was Oi Polloi.

In commie times his father did not tell them anything; Did not want them talking at school and getting everyone put in a re education camp.

Like I said, too bad we can not cash it in!

Just saw that Brigitte Bardot passed at 91.

RIP

She was so beautiful and did allot for animals.

My bro called my cousin from inside.

He said this is the worst experience of his life.

I bet.

They are talking about moving him once again!

I hoe it is a better place but darn, how many times are they moving him?

He has to fight to keep his shoes and leg everytime.

Why don't they move him to the equivalent of Club Fed?  If they can move Ghislane Maxwell to Club Fed considering what she was jailed for, moving your bro to a relaxed place has to be the right thing.  Not like he can run away!

What kind of morons are running that place?  Can you write to your Congress(wo)man or Senator or State rep?

Nothing wrong with being 57 varieties.   We're a bunch of mongrels. And while we might have had a bit of money way back, not any more.  Probably spent it, gambled it, spent it on hanky panky or drank it away.   Who knows what they did.   Obviously living for the moment.  Only a couple of them made any provision like leaving grazing land to a village in trust or cash to be dispensed to the poor once a year.  Great.  If those ancestors had any sense and a bit more foresight, they could have sorted out us out forever.  I think it's a lesson I need to learn and it's a lesson of history for sure.  So many stories like that.  Put $10 in a bank and see it grow over generations.

Actually, btw, I've been to Mongolia a few times.  Genghis or Chinggis is the name of many of them.  A lot of them didn't have family names so they all chose the same ones.  It was part of an administrative change to register everyone.  I think it was during Soviet times when they regularised it all.

I cannot see if anyone of us here are Jewish but it wouldn't surprise me.  Around HU there were obviously many Jewish people but they were taken by the Nazis. I suppose some of them must have hidden themselves.  And some ran away to other countries, possibly changing names at Ellis Island if they went to the USA. Don't know about elsewhere.
