Interesting and solid cast. Not sure Robin should be in a slasher movie but the genre is very popular, perhaps spurred on by Game of Thrones and spin-offs, Vikings and now The Odyssey.

Filmed partially in Budapest/Korda Studios at Etyek.  BTW, been on the Korda Studios tour (don't bother, it was rubbish).

Well, their ages are against them.  In the end it'll all come out and there won't be a thing they could do about it.  Already they didn't - as you said - think about the Internet back then.

BTW, talking about being remembered for the wrong reasons, I read that Donald Trump is planning to lie in state in a glass coffin like Lenin and this will be at his Presidential library between the actual library and the Qatari grifted 747. 

Who the hell is going to visit his Presidential library anyway?  And once he's gone, everyone will rage over it for a bit, then he'll be consigned to the trash bin of history.  And who will mourn him? I think no-one actually truly will care. Has he got friends? Or just business people he knows?  His family will extend the grift with memorial coins, bibles, branded mobile phones and absolute MAGA nitwits will buy them.

Ok, I'm biased but really, 20 years, he'll be forgotten for the dementia addled loon he was.  I can even see people referring to him as a bogeyman.  Mothers will tell their daughters to watching out for misogynist Trumpian men, politicians will call each other Trumpist as a synonym for narcissist OTT behaviour and so on.

We Europeans tend to have this idealistic view of California - all sunshine, blue seas and surfing.  Totally Baywatch.

But the sewer line blues is a song about it that people do not want to hear. 

One thing that always got me about the USA is the power lines draped on poles with transformers here and there.  Not a good look.  So untidy. We have power lines here at Fluffy Towers which are draped on concrete lamp posts.   I keep hoping they will put them under the ground and improve the street lighting and general ambience.  They did it in the surrounding streets - built a new substation.  But not here at Casa Fluffy.  No-one important enough lives down in the village now as they all got fired by PM^2.  No special attention, not even a library.  I'm also keen they introduce a residence only restriction as people zoom down this street like it's their final desperate act.  Our cat will cop it as it hangs about in the road.

Bird watching is quite a topic here.  My son is interested in it and we have several books on it.  We only really look in the garden but we try to learn the names.

Apparently there's a really good app which has over 11,000 birds stored in it complete with songs which can be used to identify any particularly bird around by recording it.  There's article on the BBC about it.

I just had a look around and it's downloadable as it was released on VOD (Video on Demand) so instantly up as a torrent.   In fact, I've already downloaded it.  We have superfast internet and it took about 3m to get it.  Runtime is 2h 25m so a lengthy movie.  I might queue it up for tonight.  Any night is movie night here at Tuffy Flowers.  It's a bit long so might have to see it in 2 parts.

I am not surprised. I usually look for the electricity sockets in the background. 

If they are in the UK (or Ireland or a few other places), then they have 240V 3-pin plugs but in many shows, the 110V 2-pin variety turns up.   Big mistake.

I've said it before - shows purporting to be in the USA but filmed in Canada usually have Canadian civil registered aircraft turning up on screen.  It's so obvious, makes you wonder if they'd been on the vodka. Such a basic mistake, easily taken care of by CGI.

Dark Matter returns for Season 2 on 28 August 2026 (Apple TV and inevitably by download soon after):

Joel Edgerton once more plays all the Jasons in this mind-bending series. In the first season, Chicago physicist Jason Dessen was abducted into an alternate universe, landing in different versions of his life and accidentally releasing hundreds of versions of himself as he tried to make his way home to his wife, Daniela (Jennifer Connelly), and teenaged son, Charlie (Oakes Fegley). He made it back, and the family seemed settled until hordes of variant Jasons came after them. Now in season two they are on the run. Blake Crouch created the show based on his own novel but used up the book's plot in the first season, so who knows where he will send the family next? Beneath all the sci-fi and suspense, the series raises questions about the big what-ifs of life as Jason One grapples with his choices.

Ted Lasso turns up again, with many cast members returning.  I liked it the first time so this is a welcome surprise. Ted Lasso premieres 5 August on Apple TV internationally

Three years after it ended, supposedly for good, this warm, funny hit series returns with a twist. Former AFC Richmond football coach Ted (Jason Sudeikis) is lured back to the UK from Kansas City to coach a Richmond women's team that Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) has just created. The first episode sets up his choice too obviously, but by episode two he's back in London and the old show is reinvigorated with its new female-empowerment theme. Much of the lovable cast returns, including Jeremy Swift as director of operations Leslie Higgins, Juno Temple as marketing guru Keeley Jones, and Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, now in Ted's old job but still a wonderfully acerbic character with a marshmallow heart for Keeley. Tanya Reynolds (from Netflix's Sex Education) plays a deadpan, talented coach for the women's team. With its motto "Believe", the show was embraced as pandemic-era comfort food when it began in 2020. Now that it's familiar, it may be even more comforting today.

Both excellent actors. 

Judy Davis originally came on to my radar when she starred as a terrorist in an SAS movie starring Lewis Collins (The Professionals and also RIP).   Movie was Who Dares Wins - the motto of the SAS.

And for extra trivia points the Borg Queen (Star Trek Voyager) also appeared in The Professionals.  Her name is Alice Krige.

I was an amateur radio operator, and an avid radio-collector/restorer/repair-tech back in Canada. Though I focused mostly on large, vacuum tube military and commercial antique radios, I also had a decent collection of 1940s to mid 1960s bakelite vacuum tube personal/home radios. Here's a pic of some of them.

I've been to JT's house in the Bahamas.  Well, OK, not inside. I  was outside it.  It's where his disabled son Jett died.

JT came back after Pulp Fiction.   That's one of the best films EVER!

JT has a lot to pay for - mainly multiple houses, kids and aircraft.

Yup. Vacuum tube, analogue technology.

I had equipment racks very similar to those in your pic, filled with Racal, a couple of TMC GPR-90 and GSB-1, Hammarlund, RCA etc.

I even had two R1155 receivers out of WWII Lancaster bombers, fully restored.

Sold the works, along with a full line of test equipment and a fairly large selection of tubes (~1,000), for a song when I took early retirement at 55. I was starting to wonder whether my hobby might instead be a symptom.🤔 That was 10 years ago. Been in Vietnam for the past 9. (I do miss my daily use modern Yaesu FT-1000MP)

A small bit of useless trivia. The term "computer bug" grew out of 1940s/50s vacuum tube tech. The electrostatic charge of the circuitry was like a magnet for dust which roaches/ants/mites/spiders etc would feed on, often jamming relays or impeding switch movement. Technicians would go through the (often room sized) circuitry to find the critter, and the term "bug" stuck.

I was in Liverpool and saw a film crew.  They are remaking Army of Shadows as a TV series for Channel 4 (UK).  It's an intriguing story moved from France to the UK to show how resistance would work under the Nazis. 

The original film won best film in 2006, 37 years after it was released and then banned due to it's Gaulist theme - it's long at 2h 25m. And in French.  Keep an eye out for the TV show release on BitTorrent sites.  The French original is available easily for download and perhaps on YT.  Copies with English subtitles can be sourced.

Get another transceiver.  I am also a licensed radio amateur but around here, there's literally no-one and no repeaters (for 144Mhz and 430Mhz).  I can operate here but it's a bit of a dead loss trying to get anyone.  I can sometimes hear people when mobile as I have a radio in my car.  The car is being repaired so literally no-one to talk to as no radio.

That's not trivia about bugs, that's actually one foundations of modern IT.   BTW, I've had arguments with US people (so not Canadians) who seem to think the first computers were made in the US.  Baby was a bit different.  It was a stored program machine.   That's really fundamental to all IT that came after.   We could even talk about the Babbage Difference Engine.   I like clocks and mechanisms.  It's a real marvel.

More trivia: I usually keep some ire locked and loaded for the movie U-571 and the idea the US grabbed the first Enigma machine from a German submarine. Absolutely wrong!  US was not even in the war when the British captured the first enigma machine.  I only mention it because it used encryption, something we all use each day and I like to complain about that inaccuracy (and others in U-571) and up Alan Turing, genius and a great film too! (and on UK £50 bank notes as well)

The Long Walk - might be ok, downloadable.

Just watched it, despite mixed reviews, I quite liked it. A few supprised in it, and I do like the main actors. So a 8/10 from me.
