You assume they aren't working together. That may or may not be an error. - @Fred

I don't assume anything.

Maybe we can agree Trump is a scam artist. He's also a simpleton who thinks he can be at the top table with "statesmen".

$1B is pocket change for Putin but of course he's not going to pay out of "his pocket". And he's going to milk it. His pocket and state coffers are one and the same. I've worked in autocratic states and it's par for the course.

I'm mainly interested today in what this framework for Greenland is.

I think he caved in. He was probably told by the GOP, screw with NATO or try to leave,  it's the end of your Presidency.

The fact that he seems to be a one trick pony is now recognised by many states. We can expect to see more resistance now and more Trump management.

Board of Peace probably dead in a month.

Fred

Trump is as stupid as he is ultra right wing.

I see his putting ICE into cities to cause chaos as a reason to deploy troops to calm the situation he caused.

Then we have a state of emergency in waiting, so elections won't be possible.

Last I checked he was at about 37% - still strong but diving rapidly and leaving him in dangerous waters fr the mid-terms. If he loses badly there, he faces the possibility of becomming a lame duck, or at least having his wings seriously clipped.

If he dumps the mid-werm elections, the US can wave a sweet bye bye to its democracy. That would be rather ironic since they have removed so many other countries' democracies in favour of their own gains.

The above is pure guesswork based on his rather unpleasent nature and the way he has worked in the past.

We will know if my guess has any merit by November.

However, so many governments all over the world hate him and he's caused absolute chaos in world trade, so he's done more damage to his cuntry, (and more good for the world) than any president before him.

As I said, He can't do so "LEGALLY"

He can't stop votes with mobs legally,  but he did that.

Congress, the only thing that can delay elections,  has a slight republican majority that might very well lose their jobs after a election.

One state of emergency later..........

It might well be contrived and illegal, but such details are unimportant.

Didn't read your link as I usually don't unless it's mainstream media. But I am assuming this is about data sovereignty. It is a big issue with the major online data centre/cloud players like MS and Amazon.  There was an article I read recently on The Register describing Amazon and MS are now moving to have an all-European operation running in parallel with worldwide operations.  It's so that European data doesn't go outside the region.  About blinking time.

It doesn't solve it for small states also concerned with data sovereignty.  They don't have the muscle to argue with Amazon/MS etc.   But it makes no sense to put your digital wealth under the eyes of a foreign power, however benign they might seem.  This was a discussion 5 years ago but it seems only some politicians have gathered enough grey matter to finally get the message

I presume that was what it was about.

I don't know your educational level but we were taught in school how to do a summary or encouraged at Uni how to do a Précis and then later in work, it's common practice to write reports with a management summary.

So why not do that?

Yes, please put the quotes inside your summary text and not separately as it just looks terrible and lazy.

No, I did not dismiss your posting because it was Indian.   I just said put the link in the narrative.

When I see this kind of link, I wonder what I could be looking at.

If you put a reasonable summary then turn it into a link (see the menu when you post), then I could, along with others, determine if it would be worth reading.

Generally I don't read your postings to any in depth degree as it's quantity over quality. I skim them and classify them according to how spammy or written diahorrea they look.  When I see a list of links - I just turn off.  Others might read them but we've no way of knowing.

BTW, stop being Trumpist in your own posts.  I'm not criticising your option to post your views. I am criticising the way you format and present them.     I often write for a living - usually reports - and there are rules one has to follow. No hyperbole, nothing without fact checking, short sentences grammatically correct, no OTT wordage etc.   Like I said, Google how to do more professional writing.

Here's an example way to format it:

MSNOW: JD Vance comes up with a new metaphor for the Trump-led economy: The Titanic

When Barack Obama entered the White House in early 2009 and got to work addressing an avalanche of pressing crises, he often used a metaphor when asking for Americans’ patience. “The ship of state is an ocean liner, it’s not a speed boat,” the president said.

The US has ceased funding for, and participating in, the World Health Organisation. Whilst this has been on the cards for a year, the process is now complete.

We must also consider the atrocious US health system along with their anti-vaccine attitude.

The future is where we have to look, and worst case sees epidemics starting in the US, and Americans banned from countries due to disease spread.

I see the possibility of easily preventable disease outbreaks - Measles is already showing up, and other diseases might well follow.

Measles is especially nasty as it spread through unvaccinated populations so quickly.  It's very common in war zones and poverty stricken countries. It looks as if the US is adding stupidity to the list.

Trump has made many very foolish mistakes,  but his health policies might very well be the worst of them for his country's children.

And locally here, 12 April for a General Election.  Just a few months.

Mrs F is concerned there could be violence.   It's very polarised in Hungary.

So much so, we've advised potential visitors not come a week either side.   Easter is there too 3-6 April.

Orban Viktor's Fidesz is currently looking at being ejected and replaced by Magyar Peter's Tisza Party.

I am not sure.  Some towns are Fidesz towns and some are more marginal.  Budapest is always anti-Fidesz.  I think Orban might lose but can continue with a coalition.  Or the same for Magyar.

It's a radical change.  Orban has been in 15 years so we're very late in the cycle.   Of course, the rot has truly set in now. Usually it's 10-12 years before everyone gets truly fed up, ruling party is out of ideas and the corruption becomes endemic.   It's also a generational change.

No-one is under illusions.  Magyar is a former disciple of Orban.  But he's not Orban and that gives him an edge.

This is old news now.  Maybe Trump needs to take a paracetamol.  It's couldn't make his mind any worse.  Like it causes autism, no evidence whatsoever.   What a twit!  And RFK Jr's opinion?  Off the wall numbskull.  Who trusts a ex-drug addict previously with a worm in his brain?

Anyone with any sense will have their vaccinations.  It's the fools who don't are the ones who will suffer.

Personally, we've got nothing to worry about. We're fully up to date and the kids are also fully up to date.  Besides, here, you cannot go to school without your jabs.  That's a legal requirement.  And quite right too.

Loss of USAID is a major disaster on world health care and it's going to cause many deaths.

My prediction:

I expect if Trump dies (fingers crossed), Shady Vance will come in and struggle to be a Trumpist replacement.  The MAGA base will mourn the loss of the cult leader.  It'll break up and become fragmented and polarised. This will get more difficult and Shady will be a lame duck (like Trump will be after the mid-terms).   Nothing will get done.  Gradually, all the manic policies of GOP will be slowly replaced until we're more likely to be in a stable place.  However, Trump burnt so many bridges with allies, it will take years to overcome the disaster of Trump.  Generations.   It might end up with constitutional amendments to stop people over 75 winning and turning into El Presidente, Putin/Maduro style.  USAID will return in some form if Democrats get back in.

I could go on but it's lunch time.

America left the WHO in 2020. However, this decision was reversed by President Joe Biden on his first day in office in January 2021.

Formal Decision (January 20, 2025): On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14155, titled "Withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization". This action officially notified the United Nations of the U.S. intent to leave, triggering the required one-year notice period.
