Approved vaccines for travelers who had received Sinopharm, repercussions of the Pandora Papers on Mauritius, FlySafair soon serving Mauritius…

Pfizer and Janssen for anyone wanting to travel with an unrecognized vaccine

A number of Mauritians and expats living in Mauritius have been turned away from flights because they had received Sinopharm or Covaxin. Both are still not recognized by a number of countries. With an increasing number of Pfizer and Janssen becoming available - indeed 2 million doses of both vaccines should be made available within the next month - the Mauritian authorities are now offering both these vaccines to anyone willing to travel but who cannot because they have received either Sinopharm or Covaxin.

The repercussions of the Pandora Papers on Mauritius

Yes, Mauritius was mentioned in the Pandora Papers. Once again, over 30 Mauritian businesses were mentioned and undermined by the recent leak called Pandora Papers by the ICIJ. It seems that the Mauritian jurisdiction keeps allowing offshore companies to enjoy a much sought after confidentiality to hide money in funds in Mauritius. The enquiry is available on the L'Express Maurice website. This will certainly influence the GAFI's decision to keep or not Mauritius on its grey list of tax havens.

FlySafair, new low cost airline to and from South Africa

The low cost airline FlySafair will start to serve the Mauritian destination on the 11th of December. Two flights will be set up on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 16 h 15. The flights will be operated between Johannesburg and Mauritius. Other flights serving this line are British Airways, Air Mauritius and Comair.
