Same-sex Filipino Spouse Visa

Hi All,

Me and my partner are living in the Philippines where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. I might have a chance of going to Germany through work, and to be able to bring my partner - we plan on marrying somewhere it's legal and a bit easier to do like maybe Denmark.

My question is will the report of marriage in a Philippine consulate be blocked or rejected? I saw a requirement (but is maybe not updated) that report of marriage is needed for a spouse dependent visa.

Any information would really be helpful, thank you.
A registered partnership or marriage might be required to be recognised by the home country, in order to be eligible for a German family reunion visa. You should consult an immigration specialist - or the German embassy in the Phils.
If you want others to benefit from your findings, please come back here and post the results!
Alright, I'll check in with the German embassy here tomorrow since it's a weekend today.
Just an update, since same sex marriage is not legal here it's not possible to register the marriage in Philippines. BUT the German embassy acknowledges this and they are open to accept a CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage) for a proof that the spouse is not married to anyone.

Hope this helps someone!

@Nexall Hello, Is your partner Filipino or a foreigner?

@davemontressor we are both Filipinos

Hi All,

I am not sure how to edit the post, but just an update - we arrived in Germany months ago as husband and husband! 1f60a.svg

We decided to get married in Australia as that is the closest to us (Philippines). As a same sex couple, there is no legal way to register our marriage in the Philippines, but the German embassy accepts CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage) to prove we are not married to anyone in the Philippines.

The marriage certificate from the host country where we got married was of course important.

Did you mean you married to australia? may I know if you got tourist visa for the purpose of marriage. I am also planning to bring my partner here in Finland under dependent visa but I have no idea where to start. I am looking for a country where we can have a ceremony and that does not have too many requirements for Filipinos.

@Nylyoj209 This is the Germany forum. So are you asking about marrying in Germany? Not easy if you aren't living here!

thought they might have the same rules as Finland as they are both in EU. I am currently in Finland and wanting to bring my partner.

@Nylyoj209 I have no idea about Finland, but these rules are still strictly national. I therefore recommend you ask on the Finland forum.
