Hi everyone, Goedeag iedereen:

This is my first post, quite obviously. Perhaps this is the wrong forum, so please tell me where to go if this is misplaced.

I currently live in Canada. I was born here, and have lived here for most of my life, barring about eight and a half years in Europe. Most of that was in The Netherlands. Alas, whilst I did live there for almost eight years, I always worked at places where English was the language of work. British Telecom being the most symbolic of that. I did, somehow, manage to naturalise. But that was almost a quarter century ago.

Anyhow, I have Canadian AND Dutch citizenship.

And the reason I questioned if this was the correct forum is because I plan to move to Europe for good. I am hoping to retire there. I will know more in about 48 hours form when I post this.

That's about it. If anyone can recommend anything about Antwerp, please do!

I am sorry Bhavana, but I thought I replied to you. I imagine doing or having done a number of things that were no such thing as done, just forgotten.

So, I think things are looking like I will make a departure from here 20 years to the day from when I came back to the city of my birth, which has been the worst place I have ever lived, full stop. That translates to the first week of November.

I am having some inconsistent results when searching for flats. I think it would be a reasonable idea to use an agency? I was told that the landlords actually pay for that service. Is that true? If things to as they are supposed to next week, I will book my flight, and it someone can suggest some trustworthy agencies, I would like to contact one soon.

I would also like to know if anyone can recommend a really good local computer shop and a music store. I don't mean a sheet music store, but a pro musical gear shop. I want.

And, one more thing for now: health care and coverage? In Amsterdam/Amstelveen, I did everything in English. One thing that is rarely taught in language classes that I have been to are words for body parts, and medical conditions and symptoms. But I am old now and my Dutch is not going to become amazing. I will always try, but I do not want to be in a positions where a doctor forces me to speak French or Vlaamse, if you know what I mean? Can anyone regale me with tales of medical coverage in Belgium. How are the huisarts assigned, as well?
