Carpooling in Saudi Arabia

In order to move around in Saudi Arabia, you will have to spend time on the road; for your work commute, to drop your children off at school or for everyday trips. Carpooling could be the right option for you. We would like to know your views on carpooling as a means of transport, and whether it is a practical and cost-effective option.

Is carpooling and cost-sharing common practice in Saudi Arabia? What about the regulations in force?

For which types of journey does carpooling seem more suitable in Saudi Arabia? How much is the cost of a carpool trip?

I wish we could have something like BlaBlaCar service in Saudi, but frankly I doubt it will gain much of success considering that the people is so concerned about the safety.

Not a common practice in the region and not backed by the regulations

Car pooling is illegal here, though many people share rides with friends and colleagues for small monthly payments. Some people put up ads in internet offering rides for daily trips, weekends  special trips for long distances.

Due to low fuel prices, all working professionals owes a car, labor transportation is arranged by their own companies , taxis availability, carpooling has limited exposure to in major cities of Saudi Arabia

There is no car pooling as of now.
