Hi,

I'm student in Milan, Italy and my residence permit expired this September and my renewal date is on 11th Jan, 2019.

Meanwhile, I planning to travel to other schengen places in December.  I talked with Questura ( immigration office) and they told that I can't get a Provisional Residence permit just of tourism.

So what should I do in order to travel. Can anybody provide me some suggestion.

Good evening, on renewal of your permit you will be given a receipt in a paper form which says your permit is under renewal process... You can travel with that paper, your carta d'identità and passport as well

i think the receipt only allows one to travel back to country of origin and back to Italy through direct flight.

Have you personally tried traveling with just the receipt?
