Hi all I am currently considering moving to mauritius to study . I'm possibly looking for a student that I can correspond with in order to sort of have a students opinion on student life in Mauritius and questions in general .

Any advice would be much appreciated and I'm looking forward to making friends before I make my move :)

Hello, if you are looking for non-Mauritian perspective, there are a lot of foreign students at Middlesex University: http://www.middlesex.mu/
I would imagine if you contact a member of the faculty they should be able to assist.

Hi Tulsie , It will be of help if you share information of where you are coming from, your origins, where you are going to study, what field you are to study so that you will get responses that are very relevant. If not you will get responses that may be of little help and generic.

Ah I see I'm terribly sorry for the vague information ... I am originally from south africa and have completed 1 year in my Bsc biomedical science I'm considering going to UOM university of Mauritius in Le Reduit Moka .

I am currently waiting for a few of my transcripts from my university and I will be making a trip more or less at the end of January .

I am from Nigeria and have been here for two years now. I am studying at University of Technology Mauritius. I will advise you to visit Durban and mingle with the SA people of Indian origins to help your getting used to the heavy Indian accented English mostly used here, you will find so many strange ways of doing things and speaking just like in many other countries of the world. The students of UOM are excellent and will help you settle in. There are very intelligent students as you will find out soon. The accent is the only thing to get used to as I did in my first semester and then you will enjoy the great and beautiful island life. You will need to get an accommodation that is around quarter borne and rose hill so that you will live within a short distance to school and also enjoy the city center bustling life. Some shops and businesses here close early for business. But don't worry you have the shop rite SA franchise from  your country here to cater for your needs. You may need to share accommodation as it's around 7 to 12 thousand Rands for a 3bedroom apartment, 5 to 10000 Rands for a two bedroom apartment. If you want to share, you can get in touch with me as I am looking to move nearer to the school as I live far away from these places that are closer to both schools.
