This is not as closely related to expat issues, but I think does bear...
What makes you deep down satisfied content...that "life is beautiful" feeling, and here's the clincher...is it the same in different countries or cities you've lived, or does it vary depending on where you are.
I find this hard to pin down. I love the challenge of living in new places, I love getting to be part of the neighbourhood, however superficially. I love being able to rewrite my life and schedule, which is harder to do in my home nation....hmmmm sounds like, for me, it varies depending on where I am...but I think it varies depending on if I am in Canada or anywhere else...
So...
what's the hook for you?
For me waking up in the morning next to my beautiful wife and sharing our dream. Having the courage to make the leap and do it!

Good day everyone!
Factors make me happy when my families are in good health. Helping my brothers and sister sending to school can make me happy. And above all when I can go to church every Saturday that makes me happy and complete my week.
But I have some ideas I really want to share to all of you guys . Like what David G. Myers PhDProfessor says "Happiness seems less a matter of getting what you want than of how you feel about what you have." Putting yourself first can help you to identify ways that make you feel happy. Laughter is a great way to release tension. Finding the humor in a situation can in fact add more happiness to our own lives and that of those around us. Appreciating the small pleasures in life can go a long way in increasing your happiness quotient.
Need to remember what happiness feels like.
1. Put on a happy face and walk confidently with long strides and arms swinging and eyes straight ahead.
2. Spend time with happy people.
3. Daydream about a time and place that you felt completely happy.
4. Close the door and the windows, put on your favorite music and sing as loud as you can.

Question to people who fly a lot in SA: is 1h25 enough time in JoBurg, coming from Port Elizabeth and flying to Europe, to change plane? Otherwise we have to wait there more than 5 hours.
South African Airways says: no garantee below 90 minutes changeing time.

Hmm, good question. I would say having a job I like (means wonderful colleagues, I like the work, etc.) a nice place that I can call home and friends that I can rely on. That's probably it.
I am a regular person. And a regular people are happy when they have a healthy family (with kids), a well-paid job and friendly colleagues.
These things are a must for a happy life. Not for everyone, but for lots of people.
To be with my Family, to see a smile of my wife, to be part of The future of my dauthers and son, to teach and to study, to get up every day with a dream, to sleep close my wife every night and to prepare the breakfast every morning. What a wonderfull Life.

Fore me you can find happiness in small things: the smile or hug from my kids or husband, a freshmade cup of tea or cappuccino, a beautiful homemade cupcake or other sweets, the smell of rain, the dew, music, an paint or photo, seeing beautiful places, talking and laughing with friends. I can go one and one but to be short: all the things that I like or care about makes me happy.
Not money or material things, although I admit you need some of it to live.
No matter where you are.
For me happiness is a scarcity of sadness so in whatever place ,things, relation and work and etc. if there is no sadness will make happy and i follow in that way to be happy in all circumstances....
When you are sick have anyone show you his shoulders. Feeling is important
For me reading a book, staying with my family and studying.
Also, I love travel, to bycicle and go to the bookstore!
Talent in people and there visual image in expression like art music and so on animals they are pure and sweet.
meeting new people help in people who need and help to people to learn and feel good books and fruit and love thats all anyone needs
'Happy' - is this a feeling...a mindset...an outlook...circumstances in life...right responses to circumstances in life...significance - helping others...contributing to society to alleviate pain, suffering?

That's all about the life what ones think cannot be appropriate to others....but all have their own way to know....
I am always happy in traveling - then I can take pics and study the activities and life style of people - then I can include them in my writing!
I am happy in shopping - but after shopping am not happy because I always get into troubles "Where to store"
I am happy to use net - but not happy to wear a glass for the computer
I am always happy to have a physical relationship - but not happy after that
For me, I'm happy if my family and me is always far from sickness, problems, etc.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirableif anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about such things.
Having my favourite things and doing my favourite activities and having the means make me happy. May I be depressed being an expat, but maintaining my own happiness by holding fast to the little that I have which are my favourites... that is important to make myself happy.

For me i feel happy when i help other people specially my patients when they become better when i relief their pain, when they pray for me. Moreover, i feel happy when i listen to something nice when i watch any kind of dance i start to be very happy.

Then there is a selfishness help without expecting anything from others not even that they will pray for you...if they pray good if they do not also good essential is they got cured.......
when I'm playing with my kids all day
and playing with my wife all night
I make myself happy. Failing that, other people make me happy. When in doubt a tall bottle of Cabernet franc or Riesling does the trick.
Hi I am from the USA and live in Egypt also, I would like to see the people of Egypt be nicer to the dogs & Cats I see a lot of abuse some times.
