Are you going home or hanging out with other expat friends? What are your plans?

thanks you for your kindneSS. I normally hide at home, away from the maddening crowd. I watch the fireworks on my pc re-celebrate as a new New Year starts across the globe.

Xmas , I will be working during the day teaching, it is not a chinese holiday...nyes maybe in BJ looking for a party to attend!  Who is in Tawain?  Thought about going there during my holiday travel and to vietnam...are both places nice and warm in Feb?

HaileyinHongKong

I don't know what I'll be doing.  I'll probably work since most of the other foreigners go home for the holidays.

Hi,
i am @ Taiwan. If you plan to visit TWN, I might be able to provide some suggestions.

Vietnam is 1,650 kilometers loooong country from north to south. Winter in the north (ave 13 deg C) but no snow. Not as cold as Taiwan. South is temperate and warm (ave 21 deg C).

No. Recently street crimes have been on the increase.
For safe individual travellers = Singapore and they speak Mandarin there.

Travel time is about the same by air.

Thanks, BJ to Singapore is a long flight too. I am not fluent  in Mandarin.  I am going to Thailand for sure, need to come up with other places.  After Thailand, I head to southern China.  i thought of Singapore originally.  .

HoChiMinh city is as safe as Bangkok or other cities in South East Asia if you put on your "common sense" hat.
There are sign boards everywhere in different languages to warn tourists.
"Beware of pickpockets and snatch thieves."

For Christmas I invited my Dutch friend and we cook together.
I invited also a women I never met, I know her trough this site.
She live in Italy and she visit Jordan for a week.
I am really exited about it.

For New years ave my Duth friend come again, make lots of oliebollen (kind of a donut) en appelflappen (apple fritters).
Hopefully I can get some fireworks.

I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

I will be volunteering my time to feed the homeless as I do every year and giving the gift of a smile! Even though I volunteer throughout the year the impact seems the greatest during the Christmas Holidays.

Merry Christmas to all!

When I worked (long time ago) we spend our christmas bonus to the homeless: we buyed food and cooked for them a chinese meal.
They were so happy but we were more happier then them because we can give them something what is beyound that meal.

It is nice to know there are few kind people around.
We still have a chance..

Same to you Haily! I wish you much happiness, success, and wisdom to do the right things when you cross that path!

I'm just off to buy a few portions of Bubur. Hope the man hasn't taken the day off.

Christmas: Parties, Food, Drunk, Hangover
So this is Christmas,
And what have you done?,
Another year over,
And a new one just begun

HaileyinHongKong

Happiness and success go together.  Successful people are happy and happy people are successful.  It's that wisdom part that I need.

Normally, that comes with age. However, I was told even that is no guaranteed these days.
