Nick Thorpe has been reporting from Hungary and the surrounding countries for years. There's no way he's a CIA plant.
- @fluffy2560
Read the links - He's definately involved with the CIA
- @Fred

He's not part of some a CIA conspiracy plot.

He's a well known journalist hereabouts.

Fred

That' misreporting on your part. Don't comment unless you really know something about it.
But just for you, if you read the BBJ properly, it says Tisza has a lead on Fidesz. - @fluffy2560

Only if you miss out the part that says the lead is only amongst given groups.

You have to read the whole thing, not just the bits you want to be true.

Yes, committed voters.  In other words, those who say they will vote one way or another.

Nowt wrong with that.

Fred

https://www.rferl.org/a/hungary-electio … 80061.html

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a U.S.-based democracy-promotion NGO,provided $98,000 in funding for the preelection road show.

Some claim the CIA, using its NED front and many other networks, is not actively trying the remove the Hungarian government.

The NED and groups they fund not only disagree with Fluffy, they adverse it.

Many journalists, some knowingly, others possibly incognizant, are working for the CIA.

That includes at least one BBC journalist who we know is involved with a CIA funded group.

It's very possible he's just making a stupid move, but his provable activity with a CIA front group (see link earlier in the thread) means he can't be considered neutral, thus all his stories are suspect.

Fred

Oh dear

https://www.demdigest.org/the-wests-pro … e-or-fall/

Half of Partizan’s funding comes from micro-donors, with a few larger sources, including international ones such as the Washington-based National Endowment for Democracy (NED), which paid for the truck tour, The FT’s Dunai adds.

It gets better

Even if Orban wins another term [in the forthcoming election], former NED Reagan-Fascell fellow Kreko thinks Orban’s dream of creating a right-wing nationalist bloc in Europe is dead

Kreko, for those who don't know, is involved with the previously mentioned BBC hack, Nick Thorpe - That's the respected BBC guy who takes part in CIA funded events.

https://politicalcapital.hu/news.php?ar … le_id=2271

fluffy2560

Yeah right, the BBC is infiltrated by CIA funded journalists.

Isn't Nick Thorpe just a stringer making a buck here and there with whomever will pay him? BBC included.   The BBC doesn't have to get infiltrated by the CIA.  It can get funded by the UK government and collaborate as necessary with whoever they deem worthy.

And Fred, you'll never know about it.

Apart from wasting time on Nick Thorpe's journalism,  what else have you got this morning?

More importantly....

I read more bombers are being sent to Guam.  It seems like escalation.

And according to news reports, Trump has given Putin, 2 weeks to determine if he's serious about peace.   Trump has now got a new name - TACO man (apparently coined by FT journos), which is Trump Always Chickens Out.   Seems like opinions are Trump is not going to get his way with Putin.

Trump probably believes he can bend Putin just by sheer force of his personality.  That arrogance is astounding and yet it was obvious it was never going to work.  Now Putin has got Trump over a barrel yet again.  And if Trump is true to form, he's going to roll over.

Possibly Trump always thought Russia would eventually align with the US against China.  Seems like he was mistaken.

Fred

Yeah right, the BBC is infiltrated by CIA funded journalists. - @fluffy2560

Is it? You said that, not me.

I said the hack concerned can't be believed because he is part of a group with an interest in getting  rid of a country's leaders.

That means any anti-government stories he writes must be verified before believed.

Fred

More importantly....

I read more bombers are being sent to Guam. It seems like escalation. - @fluffy2560

You might like to mention they are from the United States. People who are unaware Guam was invaded and militarised by the US might not be aware the US is the aggressive force escalating the situation.

You may recall the US complains about island the Chinese has militarised as a first line of defence against US carrier battle groups, but many of the hostile forces they send are from the invaded and militarised islands of Guam and Hawaii.

It is also worth a note that China has been involved in almost no military conflicts since it ditched communism in all but name. The US has invaded, committed massive terrorist attacks, and destabilised many democratic governments in that time.

The US military threats against China are a result of the Chinese being far better capitalists than the Americans.  China is no military threat to the US, but the US is a massive threat to China.

Readers might also like to be aware China needs the US to remain rich as that's essential in order to sell their products over there. China has no interest in war as it will badly disrupt their business, but the US has to threaten China as the US is totally unable to compete with the better capitalists we see in China.

Fred

Education and knowledge are at the core of thought. Your unwillingness to learn might explain the poor, uninformed state of your posts.

Of course the bombers are from the USA.   I shouldn't need to educate people about Guam as they should know their Pacific geography and history.  And Wikipedia is available.

BTW, I've been to Guam on multiple occasions.  It's a dump.  I couldn't recommend it for holidays.  It's US territory and CBP and TSA are the same kind of ass****s as elsewhere.    About 1/3 of the island is a US Air Force base.  IMHO, it's not worth visiting.

Not been to the Marianas Islands but I believe Tinian is being upgraded as a base.  Tinian is where the Enola Gay left with the atomic bomb.  And the rest is history.

I'm bored with the CIA conspiracy theories.

I wanted to move it along.

fluffy2560

This is rather significant - my schadenfreude needle was  moving wildly on this news:

US court blocks Trump from imposing the bulk of his tariffs

This means Trump's plans are majorly derailed in the interim, before it reaches an Appeal Court and eventually no doubt it'll get to SCOTUS one way or another.  SCOTUS a bit of a wild card despite the majority leaning more to Trump - some of them being mainly Constitutional absolutists and some of them also Trump apologists. Some both.

But in the meantime, the markets generally liked it big time apart from Asia.  China must be laughing themselves under the table.

I wonder how this changes the tariff negotiations with the EU, China or even the UK?  Trump has lost his leverage if only temporarily.

Marilyn Tassy

I am sure everyone has seen the video of Macron getting  slapped silly by his wife.

I had no interest in him, the EU or anything political.

I did however find out his wife was his school teacher when he was 14,15 and she was a married mother aged 39.

His parents had to pull him from school and move but she followed him or at least kept in contact with him. Sick stuff.

Sounds a bit like grooming to me.

I wonder who is running the show in France after all Macron or his wife?

Yes, Macron and Brigitte are about 25 years different in ages.   It's a little bit odd but then again, who am I to judge?

Whenever I've heard Macron talking, he's sounded really articulate and well on top of his job.   If Macron is being abused by his wife, then that's not acceptable and they should come clean.  Domestic violence and even child molesting seems like it's swept under the carpet in France - recent cases are in the news on that.

Trump and Melamine are different in ages too, obviously TACO man being older.  Not many people comment on that although they do comment on their increasingly separate lifestyles.  When Barron leaves for university (presumably not Harvard), what's Melamine going to have as an excuse to not live with Donny at the WH?

BTW, Mrs F is 6 years younger than me and no-one says a thing!   Yet!   As time goes on, I get the feeling Mrs F is more in charge than before.  I'd have said it was an equal partnership of course but I guess there's always a leader in Team Fluffy as elsewhere.  I guess it's inevitable there's a shift or changing balance as both age, the younger one will have to take on more decision making as the older one's faculties may decline a bit.  Just a thought.

Elsewhere, I don't see Melamine stepping up. I think she wants to run away.

Marilyn Tassy

My point was he was only 14 or 15 when she got her claws on him.

Age different couples do not bother me, him being a child and she being a middle aged married mother and his teacher is creepy as all get out.

My step father was 12 years younger then my mother and in the 1960s people , mostly his relatives thought it was something else.

Of course mom had no money and 4 children when they met. He was the guy we had to run things past but for sure mom gave her two cents about any major issues.

Mom was the power behind the power so to speak. She made us respect him as the head of the home and had rules we had to live by.

It had to be hard for him to overnight have a large family to care for.

He was 28 and my eldest sister was already 15 or 16.

He did a great job and really loved having a large family to care for. Not very common to find someone like that, no then, not ever.

My husband is 7 years older, my friend in Vegas has the same 7 year gap between herself and her husband, my friend , Mona in Vegas married a man 30 years older then her, her second husband; He had cancer and wanted to make sure his family got zero from his estate and wanted her to collect a high SS widow payment. He had been a trumpet player in a band, if memory serves me.

Never met him, I know she named her 2 dogs Barney after her deceased husband. Barney number 1 and no;2 both were white poodles, I got them mixed up all the time.

In Fred World,  2+2 really does equal 5.  Maybe it's space time distortions over there or Area 51 alien encounters .

Just because some dude makes a few quid on doing freelance journalism, doesn't make him or her a CIA agent.  I'd write up some column inches on anything anyone wants  if they paid me big bucks.  I'd even write copy for Elon Musk provided I could keep my lunch down.

Oddly, it has happened to me. I was once roped into editing and doing an English language voice over for a Fidesz MP conspiracy theorist video regarding Hillary Clinton and dead babies.  I did it out of politeness and deference to Mrs F's (former) friend.  In the end I said I didn't want to see that fella on my doorstep or in my living room ever again.  And indeed, he's disappeared.  Hallelujah!

Moreover, and more importantly,  what do you think of TACO boy's tariff farce?

I'm postulating 2 more months before he and his government more or less implodes.

I almost forgot to say where that came from - the USMC

https://www.usmcu.edu/Outreach/Marine-C … sinformed/

The US armed forces publish exactly how they lied their way into invading a country.

The stunning thing is that total cretins don't believe this,so the US can do it again and again.

I'm truly flabbergasted at how anyone could be stupid enough to believe the new lies when they openly tell you about the old ones.

Spooks start the lies, but idiots that amplify them.

Did the WMD protesters piss you off?

People were much happier before they had 24 hour news.

Enough to stress about ones own lives but to hear about horrors on the other side of the world that you can do nothing to fix is too much for our minds.

I do not think the world is in a re set, it is in a collapse, on purpose.

Hope I am wrong but the signs are there, inflation, people losing jobs, everyone isolated because of the internet.

IDK, CIA, EU, NWO , somebody somewhere behind the curtain is pulling the strings a bit hard lately.

I saw the economy in Japan is barely holding on, in the 80s it was one if not the strongest economies in the world.

Japan is the 4th largest economy so if they crash, we all will feel it.

Maybe it is time to buy rice stocks?

They were happier before the consumerism plague hit.

However, I see the news as brain food. I started by reading every UK newspaper when I had a paper round at 11 years old, moved on to a short wave radio that allowed me to listen to Voice of America, Radio Moscow, the BBC world service, and many others.

You got used to how the various sides lie, and things have hardly changed since those days.

The style is hardly different, it's just the content that  changes.

I'll get right on that with the USMC and let you know the results first thing.

Anyway, it's Corps, not Core.  A core is the middle of something.  A Corps is a group of soldiers.

I'll let them know.

USMC is fine fighting force but not all of them are going to be the sharpest knives in the draw and everyone has to be brought to the same standard.

I've got direct experience of this from my time in the military. Some people are better at things than others.  One soon finds out.  You leverage your squad's capabilities as best you can.

Anyway, most military things there are of a fairly basic design because they are designed to be absorbed or operated by grunts of varying capability.  Sometimes in a hurry.

Specifically for the above, the diagram is just not sophisticated enough.  It's too simplistic.  You could try again but I wouldn't bother. You've run out of road and exhausted today's conspiracy theory credit.  And bored everyone to death.

For others, I'd like to know opinions on Trump's tariff set back.  He commented on the TACO man moniker with his usual bluster and BS. Apparently he's giving a speech today but I wonder if that's being hastily rewritten.  His credibility seems to be on the line.  If he fails in the Courts of Appeal, his entire schtick falls apart.

Yes, if you can't think of a valid argument, have a pop at the auto-correct.

Your brain must strain your arse.

The point stands.

The US conned people into believing Iran had WMD and, even though they have explained how they use stupid people, totally stupid people still spread their propaganda. I upgraded to 'totally stupid' because you would have to be if you stillsoak up their rubbish.

I have no idea how thick you have to be to believe their new lies, but way too many people do.

Nick Thorpe (born February 1960) is a British journalist and documentary filmmaker who is the Central Europe Correspondent for BBC News, the main newsgathering department of the BBC, and its 24-hour television news channels BBC World News and BBC News Channel, as well as the BBC's domestic television and radio channels and the BBC World Service. He is based in Budapest and has over 30 years' experience of reporting for the BBC and United Kingdom newspapers, becoming BBC Budapest Correspondent in 1986. Maybe you need to get yourself a better device organised for fat fingers or turn off autocorrect.  BTW, autocorrect is not an excuse for talking ballcocks.  Glad your gast is flabbered once in a while.  Maybe you need to reflect on that.

Meanwhile, we've already had the discussion that derrieres put a lot of pressure on blood pressure and the heart usually related to drug taking.  However,  I've not heard of it affecting anyone's brain.   Willing to learn from someone else's experiences if you'd like to share.  You can post here or send to /dev/null.

I've just heard Trump saying he wants to build ships.  He then corrected himself to chips.  I am not sure which flavour he likes.  Probably not salt 'n' vinegar.

I have little interest in what you think, mostly because you fail to do so.

However, spreading dangerous propaganda is a hobby that needs a voice against it.

We saw the Iraq war started by lies, then Ukraine - Is Hungary next?

Supporting propaganda by dumb people spreading it is, as the USMC explained, the way the US  goes about destabilising countries, removing democracies, and starting wars.

Hungary's Orban backs Polish nationalist presidential candidate Nawrocki at CPAC

Unsurprising but I cannot see Nawrocki winning anyway.

fluffy2560

I received this e-mail from that ""nice" Mr Orban asking me to vote for VOKS2025.  Not that I can vote anyway but it's the thought that counts.  Or is it a non-thought?  Meh....whatever, anyway, here's what I received (translated):

"Ukraine's EU membership is a fate-changing issue that affects all of us and can determine our future for decades. The Government wants to give all Hungarians the opportunity to express their opinion on this matter. More than 1.5 million people have already voted on paper in the vote on Ukraine's EU membership. This is an exceptionally high number in a few weeks, which shows that Hungarians understand the weight of the issue. About an issue that cannot be decided without us.

At the same time, in the past week alone, the government received more than 17,000 complaints about lost or stolen ballots. We know that serious political forces both abroad and at home want to prevent the Hungarian people from freely expressing their opinion in this vote. Ukraine has launched a smear campaign against Hungary, and attacks are also ongoing from Brussels. At home, there are those who claim that the majority of Hungarians support Ukrainian EU membership. Meanwhile, ballots are stolen from mailboxes.

Please take the opportunity to participate in the voting – on paper or online! VOKS2025 continues, votes can be cast until June 20"

Looks to me like people may be voting in support of EU membership for Ukraine and OV is laying some emergency cover to say the vote was fraudulently manipulated by unseen forces of the EU, home resistance and blah-de-blah.  And with that fraud excuse, he can say it's all invalid.  More of the usual unfortunately.
