Being French in Italy, it was quite difficult to make understand that I was a tifoso of the 2 teams. :thanks:

Today, all of them make the joke of the Zidane's headbutt... Funny at the beginning but it becomes to be a bit annoying. I even heard that a song has been created planned to be a summer success.

What do you think really happened on the field? What will be the sanctions for Zidane and Materazzi on the 20th? Why people wanna make money out of it (scandal press, musicians...)? Does the Fifa want to start the real war against racism on the field by taking Materazzi as an example (if racist insults)?

Julien

I heard Materazzi insulted Zidane's mother and sister. I am sure it's not the first time such bad words are used during a football game.

Can they be sanctionned?
I think Zidane will be sanctionned, and Materazzi won't. Nothing can justify Zidane's headbutt. This man was an example for so many children ... it's a bit sad

manu

I read on Yahoo Sports that Materazzi will be sanctionned too...

Do you really believe he insulted Zidane's mother or sister? Zidane lived in south France where such "insults" are so usual they become out of matter. I grew up over there and Marseille's language is the most colourfull you can find ;)
But it was maybe safer to tell this.

Actually this one below is much more colourful...

BBC Radio Five Live asked for help from a deaf lip reader, Jessica Rees, who read the words phonetically to an Italian translator.

She deciphered the insult as being "you're the son of a terrorist whore" - a translation also carried by many national newspapers in Britain on Tuesday.

The BBC's Ten O'Clock News also called in experts to study the television footage of the incident and determined the following:

Materazzi's first word to Zidane was "no" before he then told him to "calm down".

He then accused him of being a "liar" and wished "an ugly death to you and your family" on the day the Frenchman's mother had been taken to hospital ill. This was followed by "Go f*** yourself".

Zidane's agent, Alain Migliaccio, has hinted that Zidane will soon reveal exactly what was said by Materazzi. "

If the BBC isn't making this story, I understand better why the Fifa wants this meeting on the 20th.
This final was seen by millions of people who wanna know exactly what happened. To avoid any bad publicity in the countries where Soccer isn't well known, it's more than necessary to sanction this kind of behaviour.
Something is telling me that Materazzi will be sanctionned... Zidane has already received one sanction (on the field, on his worldwide image) and he is now in pension. He might be asked to excuse himself publicly for his headbutt.
What do you think?

Sench

Well, if someone curses at me by using those words, I certainly go to the police. Likewise, if someone headbutts you, do the same. Why this kind of deliberate physical or verbal attacks, which are for sure not a part of the game, have to be dealt on the pitch? I reckon in case of something like happens, the ref should call the police and let them take these stupid lunatics away, so they can continue fighting in jail. That will do it.

If the BBC isn't making this story

na na na, this is bbc not The Sun.:joking:

Mamma mia!!!
Did you hear what was the judgement for both of them?
Zidane was suspended for 3 matches and asked 4800 euros. As he is now retired, the Fifa asked him to do public works: 3 days with children and adolescents.
Materazzi was suspended for 2 matches with his national team and asked 3185 euros.
Both of them confirmed during the meeting that they were no racist words. Materazzi's  sanction was based on his repeated provocation.
We were really leaded by the media... thinking that there could have been racist insults. The fact that they put a name of a specialist make their story more credible.
That make us think on what are we really misleaded? are the everyday news true? what to believe?

ZIDANE SNAPED and could not handle the pressure. That type of talk happens in all level of sports. Zidane disgraced himself in last international match.
