Salary subdivisions in doctor's contract

Hi,

I have been offered a consultant specialist surgeon job in KSA with a base monthly salary of 30,000, with a 'professional allowance' of another 30,000. There is also an incentive of 5000.

Could anyone explain this categorisation to me please? The contract lists 'other benefits' as accommodation, transportation, a flight/year, health insurance and indemnity - so I'm guessing that 'other' means these extras are outside the 'professional allowance' - is that right?

In other words will I be taking home 65000 a month or will almost half of that (30k prof allowance) be deducted by the employer towards my housing and other costs?

Also, how does the incentive system work? Does it increase based on targets, and if so how realistic are the targets? Is there any guidance or rule of thumb regarding this? The contract seems very vague about all this.

Thanks.

It really depends and does vary company to company.

Usually, salary and allowances are categorized separately primarily because base salary is used to calculate end of service benefits and allowances are not included in that.  From what you describe, it does seem that your cash will be 65 and the rest is extra.  I would suggest to ask your employer for clarity.

No one here can tell you about the incentive scheme as it is company specific.  Every company has a different scheme with caps, adjustments etc.
