Nice idea but I don't think it would really work in the real world. I have never been self-employed my my boyfriend was for a long time before we moved to Germany. It was hard enough stopping customers calling at the weekend and at all hours of the evening let alone a whole 'work day'.
I think if you did start to do a four day week you would lose out to competition that does work normal office hours (and days).
Unfortunately we live in a 24/7 type of world and if you want to get ahead, especially as a self-employed person you have to embrace that.
