Online shopping in Russia

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Shopping online can be far more convenient and offer greater choice than going into shops, be it grocery shopping or retail.

Are there options for online shopping in Russia? Which sites or apps do you use most frequently and are these local or international?

Are there particular products that are cheaper to buy online or that are perhaps not available in Russia?

What is the delivery process like — is it easy to receive deliveries and what are the costs of shipping? Are there any taxes to pay upon receipt?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I've never tried before in Moscow.

Online shopping in Moscow (don't know about elsewhere in Russia, but I suspect it is the same in the large cities) is very developed. You can buy just about anything online. By searching and comparing you can find the lowest price for what you are looking for. And you can almost always find a lower price than in a brick & mortar store.

Delivery is usually by courier and is quick and efficient, but sometimes delays happen. For products from other cities, Russian Post or other private carry is used. International shipments have to go through customs, which can cause delays and occasionally other problems. Duty is due on some items, but usually only high ticket one.

You can usually pay online or by cash/card directly to the courier.
