Numbering of comments

I think the system of starting comments with the earliest date should be altered to that showing the most recent date.
I know that if there are a few comments on one subject, that cover one page, the existing method is OK. However, when there are many pages covering one subject, the system is illogical as it is not possible to immediately scroll to the latest page.
I have made my views known to the moderators who said they will look into it. If anyone is in agreement with me, perhaps they can also contact them.
On the Expat Exchange site there is an option available to change the dating sequence

Several points....

1.  When visiting threads off a welcome page, click on the latest poster as listed on that page to take you immediately to the most recent post.  Are you doing this?

2.  I agree that there should be a way to go to the latest post(s) without undue amounts of scrolling.  I have previously suggested to the Home Office that they install a button-feature enabling readers to go straight to the latest threads.  I am ‘reporting’ this recommendation to them again today.

3.  Thank you for making a comment aimed at improving expat.com

No 1 does work as you say.  I had not tried doing that.

I hope with your ' weight of experience ' on this forum, your added suggestion may make the changes required.

I think the web page is working properly. Once a new post goes over 40 replies, then it is broken down to pages. It provides link to go directly to the last page. That seems to be the standard of most forums similar to this.

Having said that, using cookies, they could allow users to customize the settings a bit, that is, to be able to select the order they want to list comments. It may be difficult  to follow a conversation if you list the most recent first.

My 2 cents on this subject.
