living in some other country is a dream which i cherish a lot...the feeling which one get by living in other country is just awesome..one gets a lot of exposure too....learn new culture..its just like starting afresh

FeeAcer

And in which country would you like to live, Willy?

ablair85

Yeah, living elsewhere is great. Moving around can be pretty tough, though, in terms of losing touch with people. I'm new to S'pore and definitely want to travel a bit more, but moving around every few years would leave me feeling, ironically, quite detached.

yeah, Life in abroad is very good only if u have friends there. Otherwise its a hell to live. Home town is always comfortable and share all ur emotions and expressions in mother tongue.

While it's easy to live with the same people you've known since kindergarten, I still feel that broadening one's horizons is more than a great idea.

While it's not easy to change the whole country, one still just must be able to get in touch with the locals. It'll go just fine once you start making some connections.

Just word of warning: Being an expat is not as dreamy as it may sound. I wouldnt trade my personal experience for the world, but think very long and hard (and realistically!) before taking the leap.

i would rather take my chances and settle abroad..:)...i dont think that loneliness would bother me much.

ladyliberty

There is more to it than the risk of loneliness.  But good luck to you!

willy nilly

hey ladyliberty..i read ur blog..u criticize a lot..:)...to hell with difficulties involved in living abroad...bring it on..i can take it..

ladyliberty

LOL as I said good luck.  My blog is very tongue in cheek, so don't let it deter you (not that you would!)

willy nilly

oh it won't deter me...hey that food thing was disgusting..meat with blood..u in london?

ladyliberty

LOL. I am just outside London and do not eat black pudding!  Ew.

willy nilly

hey i was just curious to know ...why u left america..it's the most awesome country in the world.

Hi, Willy, you sound just like me when I was young. Now that I am old, have worked and lived in about 50 countries and visited many more I became more of a comfort creature  I shy away from spending more than a few month at a time in developing countries, no matter how beautiful: they are sooo uncomfortable! :-(( but I would not have known that if I did not try... and, truth be told, overall I had a blast.
But no, America is not the most awesome country in the world: too much injustice, income inequity... not what it was before Reagan unleashed the XIXth century on America again. :-(((
It is still comfortable to live if you have money, don't worry about being laid off or unemployed, but not a great country any longer by any means. Sadly.

ladyliberty

I actually will agree with you Willy Nilly.  I do think America is the best country in the world (although it definetely has it's problems as do all countries) and I am very proud to be an American, but in my case, I left America to be with my husband.  Love won over patriotism :)

willy nilly

hey minerva...yeah i know i may be naive..:)//50 countries wow...hey my uncle travels this much..he is a geologist..so it reuires him to travel a lot..i became an engineer though, well there's a thing in my country that settling in america is considered being successful...so u know...everybody goes there..and also every company these days sends us to america mostly..hence the craze..i think one can find income inequity and injustice a lot in many countries...i have suffered a lot of it here too.yeah but i can understand ur point of view too..

willy nilly

and yeah ladyliberty...i guess u and me are on the same page..lol...i wish i were an american..but u should not have left america..had i been in ur shoes i would have been a chauvinist.

Leaving the country you were born in and living in another country can be very developing, you see other perspectives, learn new ways of living life... Life can become more intense and you put yourself to the test many times, maybe in learning a new language... or when it comes to finding jobs, friends, starting from the beginning.
