Anyway it gives us an extra free day off 

MAY 1 is Maharashtra Day in India  Today the State of Maharashtra was formed with Mumbai announced as its capital

Hi El, Happy Labour Day!!!
In Sri Lanka it is called as "May Day" It is our day and no one can give orders us to work today.
So entertaining it as a public holiday while political leaders are in Colombo having rallies.

Here in Brazil it is also the Labor Day holiday, in Portuguese "Dia do Trabalhador".

Happy May Day / Happy Labor Day / Feliz Dia do Trabalhador.......... to everybody.

Here in China it is a Labour Day ! In Chinese it's 劳动节 (lao dong jie).

It means nothing here.
