Loads of such things about. I've won countless millions in lotteries and have dead Nigerian family I never knew were there.
Odd as it is, my dad keeps sending me SMS messages asking for phone credit.
I thought they would give it for free in heaven.

I get hit up by scammers on skype now offering me large shares of inheritances from people with the same surname. What irks me is that people still fall for it.

I don't open e-mails from people that I don't know if they have attachments. I also never open e-mail from banks it gets deleted right away unopened because banks DO NOT CONTACT THEIR CLIENTS BY E-MAIL, and because I don't have accounts with them anyway. I've also received my share of these so-called inheritance scheme letters, escaping diplomat letters and all of the others. I never bite, because I'm not looking for the 'free lunch' that many people expect.

The reason that many people fall for internet scams is exactly the same reason they fall for real-world frauds and cons - GREED. They think that they are going to get something for nothing or almost nothing, so they will buy a wad of black paper because they've been told it's a stack of US$100 bills that have been coated with dye to fool Customs and pay even more for the so-called dye remover. This is why they also fall for the false inheritance scheme, they think that they are going to get a big return if they put in a little bit of money.... again just greed. Scammers love greedy people. To my way of thinking if you're both greedy and stupid then you deserve whatever you get. I have little sympathy for them at all.

The ones I really feel sorry for are the innocent and trusting senior citizens who are conned every year by the false Bank Inspector scams or other banking scams both real-world and in cyberspace. These poor souls are taken for their life savings because they genuinely trust that they are doing something they are supposed to do, or to combat crime.

I clicked onto an old hotmail account yesterday.
I didn't know so many people sent spam.

I clicked off.

I don't fall for scams because I don't have to worry about money.  I own a famous bridge in New York.

I've never heard this one.  I don't want to knock people who've been taken, but you have to be pretty stupid to fall for this.

Very well said sir! I wonder how they can afford to fool people ,it's a waste of time and effort in their part. If I were them I will just go  work and earn money in descent way, although it pays a lot of hard work at least it's something fulfilling and you be proud of !

Actually in Africa there is much poverty, so unfortunately these scammers has to use such scams to earn money. I think it is morally not correct to make fool someone and my message to scammers is that they should try their best to earn money by legal and geniune works.

HaileyinHongKong

There is poverty all over the world.  Billions of people get by without resorting to crime.
