Working Holiday visa: Short term IT contract work locations in NZ

Post new topic

Greatlookinguy

Hi All,
Have just joined the forums. Am a London lad of Indian origin and am on my way to NZ on a working holiday visa (just made it.. am all of 30 years old. Another year and I wouldn't have been able to apply :-) Figured it was now or never!).

Am an IT Project Manager in London and specialise in short term contract work here. As am only allowed to work 12 out of the 23 months the visa is granted to me, it looks like short term contract work is the way ahead for me in NZ as well. Few months here, few months there - see the country and make some money to see it with!

My question is as follows, which are the cities (or city) I should arrive at if I want to start looking for such "IT management" type of work immediately? Not sure what the IT scene is like in NZ, but thought would give that a shot first before fruit picking or bar tending!

Many thanks in advance :-)

Cheerio, K

Thanks for the warm welcome Aurelie :-)

I'll have a look at the articles in the section for sure. I am also googling and writing to individual firms in New Zealand. It's not easy to find out professional companies based out of specific cities merely from Google alone, but am trying!

Ideally I'd like to get in contact with someone who is in the professional circuit and lives in the country today who can let me know what the market is like for IT Project Management roles and other professional roles in general (I understand I might not get exactly what is in my skill set, but anything in the professional world in one of the big cities would be nice).
