Government School Vs private school in Sydney and cost of living.

Hi,

I am planning to move to Sydney from Bangalore India on a work permit for 2 years along with my wife with 2 kids. I am engaged as a consultant in IT. I hear that private/independent schools are expensive in and not sure how good are the Govt schools. Request your thoughts on the below questions.

1. How much it would cost approx for 2 kids in private school.
2. How are Govt school rated compared to Private schools.
3. With family of 5 how much it would cost me per month in terms of a. Apartment Rent b. Food. C. Conveyance.
