Heidelbergerin

I am a US expat in Heidelberg, Germany, and I write the blog Heidelbergerin at http://cndrnh.blogspot.com .  My husband and I moved here for his work (scientist at the university) and I ended up deciding to get a Master's while here (classes are in English), as it's way cheaper than in the States!  We've been here for four and a half months and are starting to fee a little more settled.
Wish I would have found this place before I moved! :)

Hello there and welcome to Ex-Pat Blog! I just joined myself. So what part of the US did you leave? I was born and raised in LA, California but lived the last ten years in the US up in Oregon.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that.  I grew up in Iowa, went to college in Chicago, and lived in Boston for six years before coming to Germany!
I haven't been to Oregon yet but my sister lives in Seattle so I have visited Washington and loved it.  (Granted, it was sunny for the week that I was there.)

Welcome Heidelbergerin!

Do you speak a little bit German?

Ja, nur ein Bisschen...nicht genug :(

Language has definitely been a big problem for me.  I hate screwing up more than anything...and learning a language is pretty much defined as a series of screw-ups...you must screw up again, and again, and again, and again....so it has been slow-going for me. Next week I start an intensive course - maybe that will help. I suppose this is all fodder for some other thread!

Julien

yes learning a new language has never been easy... unfortunately!

Do not hesitate to start as much thread as you want ;)
