Its been a bummer trying to get a company to sponsor me for a work permit.  Why is that?  Anyone know?

That is called jealousy [Please, avoid this type of comment]

Thanks drjenk.

I didnt realise that.  All is good now.  :)

I suggest you come to Turkey. There are more jobs for native English speakers in Turkey than Europe. I know of many Americans teaching English in elementary, secondary and high school in Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul.

Let me know if you are interested in finding a job in Turkey..

Ok!!!! I am sold!  What do I need to do?

I actually used to teach english as a 2nd language in Japan and Switzerland.  But the money wasn't so good.

I would love to get your ideas about job opportunities in Turkey. Please feel free to share.

Thank you,

Angie

Why not give a try in UK or AU? ;)

Willwallace

no sorry I havent got any clue. im from scotland and didnt have any problems finding a job, just a sejour card and it was all ok

cali1998

Ha!  Thanks Willwallace for your input.  I think the operative word in your good fortune is "Scotland".   Maybe the problem is that I am from "america".

Wishing you continued success.

We're not very popular in Europe right now.

cali1998

I might have to agree with you there, Hailey. :(

LemonDragonfly

hah, maybe because it isn't that easy for Europeans to get a job permission in USA either? ;)

cali1998,

Hello. Are you trying to get a job with an American or European Company. All American companies sponsor the individuals they hire. I lived in Germany for 10 years total.

Good luck.

chrissantosra

Try South Korea. ^^

What I found when I moved from the U.S. to Europe is that Europeans have better language skills (most speak 3-4 marketable languages) and higher education levels. Even for some low paying, low post jobs they have such high qualifications. While in the U.S. knowing English is more than enough (knowing Spanish is an advantage, but not in high demand) and having a work experience without much higher skills or education level. At the same time, being an American is having a high self-esteem and inflated confidence. I realized, I became too self-satisfied and less demanding to my self and skills in some regard. Of course, it all varies by country in Europe too. But it is just my observation and my view.
However, it is just not so easy to be a foreigner sometimes, Europe or U.S., and everywhere else... Bureaucracy sucks too... but there's always something. Good luck.    sincerely,
