Absolutely Anything Else

My dad worked hard all his life, saved he had a few jobs, but only one main one. The man is very comfortable, he has his state pension as well as a couple of others. He can't take the money with him, so might as well give it us children now, as we will be getting the inheritance when he has gone anyway. His funeral is already paid for and the car is leased. So has made everything as simple as possible when he does go, but not planning on him going any time soon.As I've said before, he only pays for his gas as the electricity is solar. - @SimCityAT

Best idea is to give it away 7 years ahead  (then that's outside the inheritance tax period).

When my Dad passed, his assets were way below the inheritance tax level.  So there was nothing to pay.  BUT getting probate was a long slog.   Took ages - months and months.  While that was going on, we weren't able to do a thing AND the bills still needed paying.  We couldn't sell his place or anything.  Luckily everything became frozen when we informed debtors that he'd died.  So they didn't really hassle us.  And as executors, we stumped up everything in the end, so everyone was OK.  But it did take months.

People these days can not get into good union jobs.

My disabled brother had a city pension because he worked for the city in the school district in Ca;

He had the exact same job at a collage years ago working for the state. That has an even better pension plan then the city.

He had issues with his second wife when he was in his 20,s. lost that job.

Lucky he got hired by the city.

My mother decided to sell her house about one year before she passed away. She kept it secret about how ill she really was but we guessed because she looked ill.

She sold her house and bought a second hand RV for herself and her husband. Moved 500 plus miles away from us children on purpose.

She did not want us to see her going down turns out.

Her husband owned land in N. Ca; and she kept saying the RV was just temp until they built a place on his land. Now I know she never intended to build anything, just leave him the used RV afteer she passed.

She made out a chasiers check in the name of her 6 children to divide equally.

Clean and simple, it would of been a decent amount for one person but a 6 way split was not life changing.

Oh well, she always said she card about us equally and that was her way of showing it.

True one can not take it with you but one also has to be sure they are not just wasting it away on a person who does not respect the hard work behind the gift.

Sister had her car roof fixed, $250. at the dealership; Their hourly rate is between $150. to $200. no parts used, they told her it will be stuck closed as finding new parts is hard on an older car.

At least the Minn. snow will not get her now.

Werid things keep pooping up around us here in Hungary.

I wonder if it is a sign of things to come or a warning?

Yesterday we went to the bank close to Lehal pica.

As we walked on the sidewalk by the outside of the pica we noticed a guy perhaps in his early 60,s on his knee and 2 women holding his hand trying to get him up.

We stopped to help but I could see right away it was not normal, they guy was not trying at all to lift himself up. One of the women told him he was not helping them; My husband went behind him to lift him up but the guy was dead weight; I told my husband to forget it, he would get a hernia.

The women had safety vests on like they worked in the shopping center. An older women was close by watching and seemed to know the guy.

I stood in front of him and offered him my cane for him to boost himself up. He did not even try, he said in a clear voice to my husband to get him up and my husband said he was too old to lift him up. We all left the guy and he sort of crawled around;

He had his two legs in a bent knock knee posistion that was not normal for anyone to try and get up. I later said he probably was a scammer or pick pocket wishing to get close to people and get into their pockets; IDK, it was weird.

Later the guy was long gone so it worked out one way or the other.

Sort of sick of running into crazy situations in public here.

Think today I will hide for the day!
