EU considers emergency meeting as nuclear shutdown leaves Hungary facing energy crisis

Hungarian PM Péter Magyar has warned of an energy crisis after record-low Danube water levels forced the shutdown of the Paks nuclear plant, which supplies nearly half the country's power.....

The European Commission says it is prepared to convene an emergency meeting of its Electricity Coordination Group over the shutdown of Hungary's Paks nuclear plant, as the country's prime minister warned of a looming energy crisis....

The government has asked the public and businesses to cut energy use during the peak hours between 5pm and 10pm, urging people to avoid using air conditioning and washing machines in particular.

This is becoming a serious crisis.  We could end up with rolling blackouts.   We use our airco quite a lot and particularly in these high temperatures we're always thinking of using it.  We'll have to consider other methods like living with the blinds down and the ceiling fans on full power. 

At least between European countries, there's a shareable grid - well for most of them, not some of the islands I believe.
