Single permit rejection - Medical grounds

Rohit45

Hello,

I met a lady who is from Philippines and was working in Brussels (IT sector) and the conversation with her made me ponder and write this at this forum.

Her Single permit got rejected. She has a valid RP till end of september 2019.

She  has been working in Belgium since 3 years as an expat.

She doesnt know the reason for the WP rejection but she suspects it is on medical grounds (could not inquire more on this)

Now,
Few questions that came to my mind on hearing this situation (which can happen with any of us )

What can be the reason for her rejection ? Where can she inquire the exact status ?

Say she has some medical issue, but does it mean that the government do not give here a right to work and get herself cured (She hasn't visited home country in 3+ years )

What other options does she or one has in case a WP is rejected except for security causes ?

Where can one inquire and can a laywer be hired to help in this case ?

What happens if the RP expires and she has already raised a valid argument with the ministry via lawyers ?

How can the employer help in such cases ?

How can the mutuality help in case the person is unable to work due to such reasons ?

Maybe the answers can help someone who is in a similar situation.

Her employer will get a response from the ministry stating the reason of rejection.

Hi,

I have frank doubts with your statement. Because rejected someone for medical reasons is almost impossible even banned. In any case in the case of a renewal of work.

This person must inquire with the administrative services of the city where he is domiciled.

If it is the work authorization (work permit) that got rejected, then it is purely b/w the employer and labour ministry. If it is the residence permit, like phipiemar mentioned, the local commune (or DOFI) can tell you.

Hello Rohit,

Does your friend know the reason behind rejecting her single permit ?
