Please if you can. My question is if I want to apply for unlimited work permit, My 30 months period starst from the date my first permit was issued or  the day I started working. Or the day I entered Belgium.

you need to show 30 months of work, so for me it was from the date I could show full payslips.

Did you have a single permit already while you applied for unlimited single permit?  Is your new residence permit expiring based on the date of your previous job (the single permit you had)? or extended?

Well I have couple of questions, my 30 months of just completed 5th of July 2025, I have to apply for my regular single permit renewal this week. Can I apply for the Unlimited permit also now or I should wait for the sinkle permit.

documents: Pay slips, card(s) and permits, employment contract, identity proof and health insurance.

i have applied before my current single permit expires. So i don’t think you should go for both applications, indefinite single permit application will be enough unless your current single permit expires.

My work permit has been granted on April 29, still no residency permit yet. The indefinite work permit has started on May 25, and when I called IBZ, they said the residency permit decision will be given at very end of this month.

I need to ask, unlimited work permit was approved on 22nd October and on 23rd October it changed to intreatment by IBZ. How long it took for you from that tull annex 46.

I applied for unlimited work permit and after changing the status to positive work. Now it is showing in treatment by DVZ. How long you think it will take for work permit.

You are lucky. I've received the work permit for almost two months now and it still hasn't moved to in treatment by office.

Does anyone know the starting date of a 1-year residence permit for an unlimited single permit? Is it equivalent to the work permit approval?

it will start from the month your indefinite work permit application is approved and will be valid for 1 year.

I received the approval yesterday and new residence permit is valid for work pemit starting date +1 year.

you better apply for an extension 3 months prior through the commune (gemeentehuis) of where you live.

from now on, the renewal procedure is no longer done online. ( because work part is unlimited) As stated in Annex 46 that I received, I must apply next year through the town hall to renew my residence permit, at least 45 days before the expiry date.

i used to renew my permits every year on September and because it was right after summer vacation period, it was taking months to renew it. Starting from next year, its gonna be on May, which i assume renewing to residency permit will be a bit faster

That's why I am waiting so long:) already had to cancel one working trip... I do hope "months" is closer to 3 than to 4 or 5

My question is how am I going to receive my decision, email or regular mail. How it works from here on?

You should be able to download it from the digital platform where you applied. In my case, I also received an email from the DVZOE Single Permit email address with Annex 46 attached, and my commune was in CC.

Next steps:

Arrange an appointment at your town hall to apply for your new residence card. This card will indicate “unlimited work permit” on the back.

After your application, you’ll receive PIN codes by post.

Once you have the codes, return to the town hall to pick up your new ID card.

The rest of the process is standard.

I got an email from DVZ with annex 46 only work permit is not attached.

it is not needed for new id card . annex  46 already explains you have unlimited workpermit . But again if you go back to the digital system , where we applied for , you can also download region’s decision . ( I think it will be needed next year for renewal ) For each step that you see in the system there is a pdf attached .

I have a question regarding unlimited working permit.

I plan on applying next year (May 2026) since that is then my 4th year of residence with single permit.

My single permit is still valid until year 2028. My question is, when I apply for unlimited working permit and it gets approved, will my residence permit validity will now be 2027? Because it states that unlimited working permit is valid for 1 year.

The reason that I am planning on applying is because currently, my job is not stable (financial difficulties) at the moment and I want to have flexibility of unlimited working permit so that I can apply to another company (without the need of applying for single permit) and continue until I reach 5th year and get Permanent Residence.
