Hello everyone

Me and my wife (family reunion) applied for a visa on 20 July. All documents were ready at the time of application. We gave every detail and filled out the visa form. Anyway, it's been quite some time since our application today, but I'm confused these days. When the documents are ready during the application, I see that that person immediately gets a visa. Why hasn't the visa been issued until now?

Me and my wife do not have experience abroad. Only my wife once went to the closest sister (BAKU). This much. Who knows the procedure or has anyone had such experience?

Recently, I went through the same paths. In fact, my wife's visa still hasn't been issued yet. I can tell you what I know about it.

We applied on May 12, and yesterday (August 10) they asked for additional documents. These documents are: house contract in Belgium and insurance for my wife. A short time after sending these, the visa comes.

One of the important points is, did you come to Belgium, rented a house and submit an address statement in the municipality? Until I did these, no sound came out of the visa. Unfortunately, this process takes 3-5 months.

I have a similar timeline to you, I applied with my wife and kid on the 29th of July(Abuja/Nigeria). The visa is not yet out, I will suggest relaxing and giving them time to contact you. Its most probably administrative bureaucracy

Hello,

you've to understand that a single permit / work permit visa will take from 3 to 4 months.

And you'll get your visa way before your family. So at some point you must assume you'll go in Belgium first to settle, have a rent/house, take care of the insurance (mutuality) that will cover your family (additional documents).

Nowaday, immigration is kinda late compare to pre-covid when the family was able to join nearly immediately with the worker. There are still exception, but most of the time you'll have to move on first.

Hi everyone. Me (family reunification) and my spouse (single permit) will apply for Visa D on 16th August. Both her and me have taken our jobs in Belgium so we have signed contracts. She found her job 1,5 months before me. We will move to Belgium together depends on Visas. Is there anyone like under this situation? Does this make it easier to get the visa?

My residence permit, everything is fine. Many people get visas when everything is done. I don't understand why you said 3-4 months?

I had never heard of it. My friend works in Belgium and his visa came 4 days after his residence permit was issued. I am in the same profession and in the same process as him, but 20 days have passed and I am still waiting. I hope your visas are also approved as soon as possible🙏🏻

Hello, with D card taken for the first time, can make reunification with spouse (1,5 year married together).

@mehmetfirattt41 because 3-4 months is the time needed by the administration in Belgium to grant the visa (region check the work permit + immigration the resident permit)

If you change job while under single permit stay, your resident permit can be canceled anytime if you don't get your next single permit.

@teahida13 of course, as you've a civil status with your wife (certificate of wedding)

@AlexFromBelgium, I'm sorry, but what you're saying is absolutely FALSE about the residence card being canceled, if one loses their job and doesn't find a new one after 90 days.

I know everyone takes everything you say on this forum as the gold standard, but this is WRONG. I am currently in the single permit process myself and during the recruitment process of the job I got, it was explained to me that the residence permit/card will be valid for 3 years, irrespective of if I still have the job or not. The work permit is the one that needs to be renewed yearly.

This is with a BIG multinational company using an international immigration law firm for their single permit applications, so this is coming from the horse's mouth, i.e., immigration lawyers.

Hi all, there is a misunderstanding here I think. Mehmet Fırat said that he applied for Visa D with his annexe 46, and while he makes the application, his wife also gave docs and passport with his dossier to get visa D. I mean they both applied for visa D together to arrive in Belgium together for the first time, Mehmet will be the single permit holder and the wife is dependent.

I think in this case, if you are applying with your family, they are checking the house, wife's insurance etc. Because in annex 46, it says D visa must be issued to single permit holder immediately. But when it includes family members, it takes longer..

Does someone know how long it takes to issue a visa, in this case, the single permit holder and dependents give all documents together to get visa D together?

@corporateminorista So first, let me explain myself, I'm not some kind of god or whatever... I'm not getting paid or whatever to write on this forum, I'm doing it on my free time to try to help peoples as much as I can. Am I always at 100%, well no, but still my only goal is to try to give the best possible answer.

I had struggle and had fail with my own country immigration with my significant other before reaching my objective and I'm just trying to help people to my best knowledge & experience.

Now, I'm just a human, like anybody else I can do mistakes. No need to spread a superior feeling in your message.

Anyway, to answer your statement, you have to understand that even with a 3 years resident permit, immigration CAN cancel your resident permit anytime, until you're a permanent resident.

The only exceptions are for E & F card and after 3 years, it's super super super hard for immigration to throw them away, nearly impossible with a good lawyer / if you know the Belgian laws.

Back to the topic, obviously, they don't do it for no reasons, but always if you cost any single € to the government or for any serious crimes.

So let's imagine you've a 3 years resident permit, you do lose your job and you go ask for financial help to the CPAS/OCMW, they'll immediately send the information to the immigration and immigration will send you a formal order document to leave the country. That's a fact!

Now, if you don't ask for help and handle yourself, true, your resident permit is kept and you have, indeed, "more" time to get a new job to get into a safe space again...

Btw you're a bit wrong, some work permit can be valid up to 3 years, especially in Flanders, rarely in Brussels & Wallonia but they exist too.

Anyway, no I'm not a savior or whatever, just a human trying to help people in need of advises and trying to help as much as I can with my own country's laws

Does someone know how long it takes to issue a visa, in this case, the single permit holder and dependents give all documents together to get visa D together?

We had also applied this way - I have an Annex 46 document and applied for a type d (single permit) while my wife and child applied for a type d (family reunion)

It is hard to find such case in this forum while it looks like there are some cases like mine - especially in Turkey.

@AlexFromBelgium hi i have a question .. as my husband is living in belgium from 3 years and conti .. he was a student and now 6 months back he got a job and his company apply for his single permit in april -2023 on unlimited work contract basis ..

right now he is living on graduated visa permit which is valid till feb -2024 .. and his single permit is in process..as i mentioned above

so my question is can i apply for family reunion in my country or do i have to wait from his status change ??

Hello,

well, basically to do a family reunion, you should provide the yearly tax return (and that's a proof that he's been working at least for a year and has a stable job).

Without that document, it's not impossible, but still a bit unlikely that you'll get your family reunion visa

Typically I would advice to consider doing the request once he got 1 year of payslips or wait a bit longer for the yearly doc.

Hi all ,

a week ago my husband got a single permit as he is already in belgium . Now his permit change from " student" to "work" . My all documents are ready and i am going to apply for family reunion in few weeks .

so recently i've heard in the case of recently approvals of immigration of "single permit holder " then his/her spouse apply for family reunion visa with in 6 months" so the case does not take a long time beacuse they did not send to brussels home office. So it normally get approved in less time . As compare to the others.

Halo Irene,

That depends on the embassy. For instance, I asked Belgium embassy in Germany. They allow some rule to be changed regarding the family reunion so that the single permit visa + family reunion visa can be processed together. (E.g. work contract instead of 12 months pay slip; hotel booking instead of registered contract). Although it will happen that your single permit visa can be released first, while the family reunion visa comes later.

From my home country in South East Asia, they dont allow it. Better ask the particular Belgium Embassy you would like to apply for.

Hello

I have a question for Family Reunion.

I was working with Family reunion visa till last year and due to issues in job of my husband; i got single permit from my company too. Is that single permit cancelling my rights of Family Reunion. My husband has still his permit and do i need to apply again Family Reunion process all over? I would like to change my job too but i would like to undestand process time and how i can do Family Re. again.
