Applying for Orientation year with single work permit

Erstwhile928

Hi,

I don’t think this question has been asked before. I was offered a job when I was doing my master’s degree last year in which my work permit is tied to this company. Now that I have graduated, I realized that I have never gotten a chance to apply for orientation year. I am currently in the process of applying for change of employer initiated by my new company. The thing is that I am leaving my current job the end of this week and I will be unemployed for who knows how long since it would probably take weeks for this whole process. So I’m thinking of applying for orientation year but I’ve heard from people that if you already have a job and your current status is not a student anymore then you can’t apply for it. Does anyone know how this works or has an answer to this?

Hi, I applied for orientation year right after graduation. It is a little tricky on your part since I assume you are holding a residence permit connected to your work and not your studies. One of the requirements in applying for orientation year is that your residence permit is based on studies.
