I would like to know if someone had an experience of traveling with expired italian permesso di soggiorno from Turkey to Italy. Can i fly from Turkey to Italy (direct flight) with post office receipt of renewal of permesso di soggiorno if I am not a turkish citizen. I would like to have a vacation for a week in Istanbul, but I am not sure if i can do that.

It has been said (many times) that a receipt is not a travel document.
But you can try whether the authorities accept it and then let us know.
