Hi.
I am looking everywhere for information on salary for a pediatrician  ( not a consultant or specialist).
We have 3 children and my husband currently earns approx $120000 in Australia minus the tax.
What sort of package should we expect in UAE. I have had many sleepless nights trying to find info but I can't  seem to find much info.
Housing allowance, education, insurance, relocation???
Any type of indication would be really really helpful.
Thanks in advance .

Hi Kiboro,

I don't have specifics to give you. I'm a GP/ER specialist in France looking to join my husband in AD (He is not a doctor). It takes upwards of 9-12 months to get a job lined up over there. Check HAAD/MOH licensing requirements for your specialty.

What we have learned from his experience : private hospitals pay better than public ones. If you move with 3 kids, you need to have housing and car provided. Especially housing because it is the most difficult to find. My husband is still in a hotel (he arrived Jan 8th). His visa provided by employer was no good (he got it in Nov) so had to do whole visa/medical thing again. He still hasn't got his visa or passport back from the gov't so can't open a bank account to deposit his paycheck or rent a studio yet.

The work is interesting but he is a little frustrated.

My father (a professional expat) gave me this bit of advice : get a job at your second choice hospital just to get a foot in the door and then move to the hospital you really want (when you've established some contacts and know how much you can really command in terms of salary).

Good luck with the job hunt.

Thanks so much for the reply.
Some really helpful information.

We are in the process of getting a DHA exemption but it's taking a long time :-(

It's a long process. I think I will have to take the exam, so I have asked the regulatory body and the hospitals I have worked at for the necessary paperwork. The hospitals have come through but still waiting on the regulatory body. Ahhh, lovin' the administration!

Hope it works out for you guys!

AED 75K per month (all inclusive) package; or if they give housing, schooling, car, then maybe 50K.  Medical insurance would be mandatory for the employer to provide.

Thanks, that's good to know!
