Wise advices on finding work needed :D

Dantert

Hi everyone!
I need sone good advices to find job here in Malta.
It' not exactly for me, it's for my girlfriend, I moved here in Malta because I received a call for a work and she really wants to come here too but she doesn't want to depend on me, so she needs to find a job... We want to start our new life but even if she sent out a lot of cv she didn't have any positive response...I know that finding a job it's not so simple in Malta but maybe she's doing something wrong?
She studied english, chinese, japanese and she's italian, she worked for a 5 star hotel in China as a receptionist and has experience with front office, back office, translation and segretaryship, and she's now searching a job in those fields.
Every friend I have here in Malta keeps saying that it should be easy for her to find a job since she knows italian and that's requested a lot, plus she knows other languages and has experience,  but it's starting to get a little frustrating that every attempt goes in nothing.
We don't want to give up on our dreams...
So I'm asking to you any thought about it, are we doing something wrong? Maybe she's just not searching in the right areas or in the right way...
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks for the attention!!!

Hi Dantert,

your girlfriends credentials sound perfect for the Maltese hotel job market. REasons for not finding a job might be:
1) Expecting too much , too fast (it's Malta , things take time here)
2) She's not on the island. Hardly anybody finds a job in Malta from abroad.
3) She's asking for too much salary? Malta is a low wage country compared to many others.
4) Did she send her CV to hotels directly or to agencies.? Agencies don't bother too much with people who are not in Malta.
5) The tourist season is well on its way. Recruiting started in Febuary/March.

I'm fairly certain that she will find work in Malta. She will just have to be here and available for interviews.

Cheers
Ricky

Thank you a lot for the kind words!
That cheers me up a lot and gives me more hope.
She's not asking for too much, actually the salary is the last of her problems.
Maybe, like you said it will take more time, she will surely find a way to come here and hopefully she will find a job.

Dantert

Thanks!!
