I had to share this - I was at a dinner in Nairobi, where an excellent Sauvignon Blanc was served, and one of the people we were having dinner with made a comment that there was a hint of cat pee, a classic description of that grape along with gooseberries, but everyone looked quite consternated and stopped drinking...

But after clearing what he meant, it raised the topic of certain language faux pas situation that people had experiences and needless to say, it ended up being quite a fun dinner!!

What are some of the totally embarrassing language situations you have found yourself in overseas.. :-)

supposed to be a quite embarrassing moment but turned out to be a fun moment.
