Is my salary good enough?

Post new topic

sohail7

I know this question has been asked several times before but i will be glad if someone can answer with respect to my situation. I have recently completed PhD and i have got a job offer from a university in Riyadh. I have no prior teaching experience and the salary per month is as follows:

basic salary: 8000
accommodation: 2500
transport: 500
4 return tickets
Medical is covered by university.

Is this salary good for 3 persons? If i spend exactly 2500 on accommodation then how much i can save? The university is quite a large government organization so I have not discussed how salary will be raised annually. Shall i discuss it or i can trust on university?

Please reply early. Thank you
Jamal

In simple words - Come here on your terms as conditons..... After landing here there wont be any terms, but conditions only...

Regarding saving thats a very relative subject, depending on your type of lifestyle.

Good Luck :)

ARE YOU MAD ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I HAVE THE SAME SALARY ,, HAVING BACHELORS DEGREE ONLY ,,,

IF I HAVE PHD DEGREE ,, I TAKE OFFER ONLY FOR 15000SR NOT LESS THAN THAT ,,,,

IS IT SO EASY TO DO PHD ,,,,,,,, GREAT !!

Considering the PHD you have, it really bad.

But decision is yours....

Dear,

It depends,
what is your experience after the PHD?
Your area of interest and research work.

To be honestly speaking this salary is low. Here in KSA government is spending billions on education.

Thank you.

Freshlikesushi

you guys gotta think

just because you have a PHD, doesnt mean you have any REAL experience.

If the individual is younger, they have obviously spent their entire adulthood in school, thus no real life experience for the most part.

So it comes down...Is it worth it for you?

Zeesham

thn why hiring PHD , hire some master degree holder,

this is saudi arabia....you should know things that make zero sense happen all the time

Hi Sohail7 / Jamal,

Congratulations for completion PhD. and finding a good job in a nice country.

This salary is good for 3 persons. You will find a decent accommodation well within 2500 SR pm. The other expenses for day to day living will come to another 3000-4000 SR based on your choice of lifestyle. Cars are easily available and usually cheaper than your home country. You will save most of your salary here.

However, you should look in to the other aspects of the job considering your career and growth.

I hope you've read the posts on this forum. All the best :)
