medical certificate for single permit application

Post new topic

ELMERNL

Hi! I will be potentially moving from Texas to Belgium to work for a company for an indefinite term. While my employer does their paperwork, I will be applying for the single permit but when reviewing the needed documents, I'm confused regarding the medical certificate. I found a list from the website of the Consulate General of NY of the approved physicians who must sign off on the certificate. Going to them all require an airline trip, an expense I am trying to avoid. As I will be in Belgium in February 2024, I contacted the Consulate General's office to see if I could get the certificate signed in Belgium, and was told that I do not need a medical certificate for a single permit application. Is this true? Are there any US citizens who have a work permit that did not need the medical certificate? Thanks for any guidance!
