Moving to a new job ‘mid-contract'

Post new topic

Ella-Louise

I have been in Riyadh (from the UK) since May on a 1 year contract. Long story short, I love Riyadh but the role is making me so ill from a mental health perspective (I can provide medical evidence of this if it was required). The role has also changed significantly and is no longer as described when I signed. I have never had formal notification or written sign off on my probation.

I want to move from my current role to a similar role with a different company and different environment.

Has anyone done anything similar? Or know how I can make this move? My concern is the two month penalty, which I couldn’t manage financially.

Any advice appreciated TIA

Hello , it is totally understandable but you are bound with the contract you signed here. Check qiwa for your digital contract and check for probation period and if both parties are allowed to cancel contract within probation (highly unlikely). The 2 month salary penalty (or more) is to help the employer recuperate his costs on iqama / work permit / employment and transport costs usually, which is the only other way out.

You may not know the answer but thought i would ask just in case. if my employer hasn’t put my contract on QIWA does that effect my initial question?

thank you for any help - really appreciated

Well in that case the "written contract" supersedes any other agreement between two parties is whats usually agreed upon. You can check gosi if atleast the contract is uploaded there. Also i dont see how you can transfer jobs without qiwa while being in a contract , you would have to exit and then come back all over again which is a pain.

Thank you so much for your help really appreciated! according to gosi it says iv been employed for just over a month, which isn’t the case at all. It’s a bit of minefield! Thanks once again for your help.
