Working for airbus!!! Need a place to stay and possibly a car!

nitsuapowers

Hello all,
I currently live in Bristol working in the aircraft industry and have just taken a job in Airbus Toulouse for an initial 5/6 month contract. I am going into it a bit blind and will require a place to stay for a week or two while I find my feet. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful.
After I am settled I would like my partner and our little'un to come and join me for a while. I have read some of the forums on here and I think we would like Pibrac the most. However I would want to see all the areas for myself.
I am also debating driving my car down so that I have immediate transport when I start working. Good idea? Bad idea? Is it easy to pick up a cheap runner?
Thanks for reading. The more info the better, however trivial you may think it is.

Regards

Rich

Hi Richard,

I reckon it would be easiest for you to keep your car for the moment if it is reliable, as second hand cars are more expensive than in the UK and you'd immediately end up having to deal with french paper work. I am an estate agent based in Lévignac which is close to Pibrac  if you email me directly I may be able to help you out with finding some suitable property.

Welcome to Toulouse, and Airbus!

Hope this isn't too late to be of use but...

I've used the Nemea long stay apartments, located close to the St. Martin site for one night at a time but they do longer periods too, with rooms equipped with small kitchen areas - more than just a hotel room.

For the car, if you can bring yours down somehow that sounds ideal - but I think you can only keep it on UK plates for six months before you're supposed to have it registered here. Also check you have everything on board that you need (AA.com has a good guide for this, and some hints on driving over here).

The only thing I'll say about driving over here is the rush hour traffic leaves Bristol looking quiet...I'm sure others will agree.

Not sure I can be much more help as I've only been here a couple of months myself, but I've been with Airbus for 12 years (in Filton) if I can help you in that regard!

Hi.

I saw you post from a few years ago whilst trawling for leads to get to Airbus In Toulouse, hope you don't mind me getting in touch with a few questions as I'd love to get a position there.

How did you make out at Airbus and are you still there?

Do you know of any leads, websites or names I could get in touch with to get the ball rolling?

Thanks for your time.

@ Phil > The initiator didn't showed since 2012, i think that it would be best if you can create your own thread on the Toulouse forum please.

Thanks
