Because your A card already carries unlimited work authorization, you do not need to meet a specific highly-skilled minimum salary threshold. Instead, you must prove you have stable, regular, and sufficient means of subsistence to ensure you do not become a burden on public authorities.

In 2026, the minimum net income requirement for general residence is 2,408.79 net per month (equal to 110% of the guaranteed average minimum monthly income). This baseline amount is indexed annually on April 1st and increases if you have dependent family members.

If I work part-time and earn a lower salary (for example, around €1,400 per month), is there a risk that my A card renewal application could be refused because my income is considered too low?

Unlimited work permit has NO INCOME LOWER LIMIT...do whatever u want..this permit doesn't have lower limit

Can you work a part time job and still be eligible for renewal ?

My unlimited work permit application process went like this:

* My work permit approval date: 22/01/2026

* My Annex 46 date: 16/04/2026

* My residence card expiry date: 22/01/2027

I worked until the end of May 2026 under my previous work permit. Since June 2026, I have been receiving unemployment benefits, which I will continue to receive until October 2027.

If I still haven’t found a job by the time I need to renew my residence card (around November 2026), would there still be a chance that my residence permit could be renewed if I provide proof that I am receiving unemployment benefits, along with evidence of my savings in my bank account?
