Waiting for F card

rockxmusaagrarian25

Hello expats,

I am a Pakistani national and came in Belgium on a student visa in March 2024, then I got married with a girl in September 2024 who is my cousin and Italian national, our marriage took place in Italy so we have an Italian marriage certificate, after that I came back to Belgium as I was student there and had a student residency status.

Then we decided to settle in Belgium and she got a job in Belgium she moved here September 2025 she applied for her residency card and by providing all the necessary documents she got her Belgian ID which is valid for 5 years.

My student visa was also expiring in December 2025, so I applied for a F card as a spouse to European national before my student visa expires. I provided them all documents including Italian marriage certificate and I got an orange card which is still with me. They also gave me an appointment for  April 2026 which is after 6 months of getting my orange card. Police visited us twice meanwhile and both times the visit was marked positive.

But now on 14th March I received an email from commune that as out marriage took place in Italy so they need to interview us separately and interview could last up to 1-1.5 hours per person. We need to arrange an interpreter as well as we cannot speak Dutch so well.

The important factors I want to mention here are first I visited twice Italy after landing in Belgium, then when I visited Italy for the 3rd time we had a engagement there in June 2024. After that we got married in commune in Italy in September 2024 and then we went back to Pakistan for 2 months where we had a proper marriage event with our family members. We have all the tickets of travel as a proof - Belgium to Italy, Belgium to Pakistan etc. We also have all the pictures/ videos of all these 3 events.

What type of questions they will ask in interview? How can I curate my effective answers from whole of this situation. Is it a normal procedure is there anything I have to be extra careful about etc.

1- How long will it take after the interview to get a decision as it has already been 5 months since I applied for F card.

2- Marrying your cousin will  have any negative impact on my case?

3- Will they ask why don’t you settled in Italy?

4- Can I have single interpreter for both of us?

Is there anyone who has been in this situation, or any help regarding this situation would be highly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
