Travel around the EU while my A card is being processed (Flanders)

7CR

Hi, I have the following situation:

My nationality allows me to travel visa-free within the EU but:

  • My Belgian A card is expired
  • I am in possession of Annex 49, Annex 46, and a work permit while I get the appointment to apply for the new card + the usual 2 weeks of getting the PUK/PIN.

Am I allowed still to travel by plane/train to other EU countries and come back to Belgium with no issues?

Thank you!

@7CR Hi,

do you have a passport from any of the EU countries.?

Then it should not be a problem to travel.

OFC you can travel for example with Ukrainian or Israeli passport visa free 90 days after ur residence expired.

7CR

@BMM996210 No, but my passport allows me to enter the EU as a tourist for 90 days.

@ievgenfeldmann But can I come back with no problem to Belgium?

ievgenfeldmann

@7CR you say other eu countries there is no border control between so who will even check on you

@7CR

Do you still have your tourist visa on your passport or are you eligible for on arrival/e visa.?

Or from your earlier statement you have a visa free access to EU.

Then I don't see a reason for you to have an issue.

Because from my experience at most airports in Europe they ask for your passport and in some cases they also asked me to show my visa to travel to Belgium.

(latest case was when I travelled from Italy to Belgium).

7CR

@BMM996210 But my A card is expired. If by any chance the airport checks my paperwork I would be only able to provide an Annex 49

@7CR Don't think that would be the case. You don't go via immigration.

the only check is by the airline personnel.
