Family reunification visa - moving from the UK?

ukbelgica

Hi everyone,

I have a question about moving from the UK with my Belgian spouse but a little story first if that's ok.

We got married in Belgium but lived as a married couple in the UK. I am British and my partner is Belgian. We would like to move to Belgium in the near future, but I would just like to make the move as efficient as we can make it. My partner can move his job to Belgium but I would have to give up on my employment. Whilst we're here in the UK, there are a lot of things we'd have to deal with especially selling a house which can take time.

We have access to a flat in Belgium. Would it be possible for us to change our address to that flat and start the family reunification application for myself without completely moving yet?

Whilst I'm on the orange card waiting for the residence card, I'd have to travel back and forth to the UK? Would that be fine? I assume it would be as I'm a visa free national.

I'd love to hear if anyone has any experiences.

Thanks to anyone who can help in advance :)

Hello,

First the Belgian partner needs to move and establish a stable and steady income to support you financially.

Then you can join and apply for family reunification.

You will receive orange card. But you may not leave Belgium until your F card is issued.

As you are visa free national for up to 90 days every 180 days however you can theoretically  still leave and return provided you have not used all the 90 days as tourists but that would be on your own risk.

Thank you :) I see, travelling when waiting for the decision on the residence card is frowned upon then.
