Massage therapist employment opportunities

RaeD8

Greetings all - I'm new to the forum...

My partner and I are interested in moving from Vancouver, Canada to the DR in a couple years. We are  considering what skills to acquire before moving to improve job prospects.  Here in BC, a registered massage therapist (RMT) makes over $100,000 CAD / year. In Mexico an RMT can easily make 100,000 pesos / year as well - especially once established in the five star resorts as a deep tissue or sport massage therapist.

However, in the US the average salary for a massage therapist looks pretty bleak - according to glassdoor.

Does anyone know if an RMT can make ok money in the DR?  Any thoughts / opinions encouraged!

Welcome to the forums.

The people I know who are really good have carved out a niche for themselves.  They don't make much more than US 1,000 a month, mostly with other Expat  clients.

You may want to contact the resorts to see if any hire with those qualifications.   I am not sure they do but maybe they should.
