Domestic violence: soon a new law

A draft of a new law against domestic violence is currently being reviewed by the State Law Office (SLO). The draft law will then be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval, before being presented to Parliament. The authorities receive more than 3,000 complaints of domestic violence every year. However, this figure is outdated. The new law should allow for the implementation of a much more effective protection order and stiffer penalties.
