Vaccines required in the Netherlands

Hello everybody,

When living or moving abroad, and in particular in the Netherlands, vaccination against certain diseases is often required to enter the country or to avoid risks.

We would like to ask you a few questions to help future expats there.

What is your relationship to vaccines in general?

Did you get vaccinated before moving to the Netherlands?
Were these vaccinations compulsory or recommended?

Did you refuse to get any vaccine that was recommended for the Netherlands? If so, why?

If you are an expatriate in the Netherlands, are you encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine? Do you have access to the vaccine and do you plan to get it?

Is this vaccine required for entering the country now?

Many thanks,

Diksha,

Hi Diksha and thank you for the really useful question.

The Netherlands was late in getting started with its vaccine programme and are nowhere near introducing a national standard of vaccinations for entry into the country.

The Dutch Government have published a comprehensive guide "Travelling to the Netherlands from abroad"; this link will take you straight to it.

There is currently in place an EU wide entry ban on all non-EU citizens unless you fall in one of the exemption categories described in this document.

Hope this helps.
