Hi I am an 18 year old student from Scotland. My friend and I have booked one way tickets to Amsterdam on 7th August 2011. We don't yet have jobs or anywhere to live. Could anyone give me some useful information on what its like living in/around Amsterdam and how much savings would be wise to take as we plan on staying for around a year.

Are you planning on staying in Amsterdam during your stay in Holland? Cause Amsterdam is probably a very expensive city to live in.
Maybe you should try to look in the places around Amsterdam...

And what kind of jobs are you looking for? Maybe others on this forum can help?

Hi there, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure where we will be staying yet... maybe Haarlem. Propbably either bar work or cafe work, just something to give us a bit of cash as we are taking a gap year from studying.
