Belgium Work Permit processing time.

Courtney Fitzsimons
Hi there,

My future employer is applying for my work permit on June 7th and plan on renewing each year.

I have all my documents ready: ACRO police check (legalised), medical check and health insurance.

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the wait time for a work permit?

Also the wait time for a Visa D that I will apply for if my work permit is accepted.

Also my boyfriend is a Belgian resident and I have flights booked to Belgium on July 1st to stay for three weeks and I have tried to find this information online but I am hoping someone here would know if I am able to enter the country while my Visa is processing?

Thank you in advance.

@Courtney Fitzsimons The whole process of a Single Permit will take at least two months.

If you are in Belgium while your VISA is being processed, I do not think this is possible as your passport will be with the embassy.

Thank you for you're reply.

I am in Scotland (I live here) and the Visa will be applied for on my behalf while I am in Scotland. For the single permit I don't have to surrender my passport, it is just a copy of my passport.

I am really hoping I can still enter Belgium as someone on holiday because I need to look at apartments also.

Yes, you can enter Belgium while your work permit application is in process (your WP application transaction is b/w your employer and the ministry). Once you receive work authorization and other papers needed for your visa application, while you lodge the application, it is better you are physically in Scotland.
